Another World Mall
Chapter 1114: Voices (2)
"Goddess M." Christina grinned.
"You bitch! I’m going to buy all the tools and turn you into one next time!" Melody pointed at Christina.
"I can overpower you." Christina stuck out her tongue.
"I will ask Clovis’ help, or else he will have to sort all the problems himself." Melody snorted.
"Now, that’s cheating!" Christina’s eyebrows twitched.
Clovis could only sigh, watching them arguing. "Well, that’s enough for now. Anyway, the situation is as you’ve heard. There are still a few more people I haven’t told you about. The one who supported Melody was Luci.
"She said I can handle that. I will monitor his condition all the time as well."
"Hmm? I did?" Luci pointed at herself.
"Yeah. I’ve been suspecting this, but can your recovery pod be adjusted to something that allows one to go into deep sleep without waking up for years?" Clovis asked.
Luci thought for a moment before answering, "It can do more than that. The brain is a wonderful thing. I don’t know if the real world has five affinities as well or not, but the basic function of the brain can trick one’s body.
"For example, the fluid I created could become the basis of what you really want. It can maintain your physical condition or even strengthen it.
"And so, by creating a program that can alter your brain while using the fluid, we probably can enhance your power."
"Oh? Is that the true purpose of this world?" Erwin raised his eyebrows. "To create a world for Clovis to get stronger?"
"Maybe, maybe not." Clovis shook his head helplessly. "We can’t figure out the true intention yet, but it’s clear that this world has meaning. In fact, that was what Melody and Luci talked about after that. Melody was worried because I might end up losing my muscles because I slept for too long, and Luci thought it was possible to ensure I remained in my top state."
"Did I say something, perhaps?" Christina asked. "My turn? My turn?"
"Yeah. You sounded exhausted, though." Clovis nodded. "You claim you will become the new beacon of hope for the time being. You want to keep our morale high since you guys can’t crumble before I wake up."
"Hmm..." Rin raised her hand. "If that’s the case, I am the useless one among you guys, right? I mean, I can fight, but my main role is chef. I can only cook food."
"You guys are really spitting images of the ones in the real world." Clovis chuckled.
"Really? So, I’m useless..." Rin looked down, feeling a bit bad.
"Don’t worry. You’re not useless. Your food is the one that keeps us sane. Please continue your good work, Rin. Make sure to take care of all these fools so that they don’t get sick or malnourished. The last thing we want is for them to collapse." Clovis pointed at the rest of the members. "If you don’t monitor these guys, they will definitely skip meals."
"That’s... true." Rin didn’t think it was a big deal. But in a desperate situation, skipping a meal would mean no energy for them. They might collapse at that rate. That was why her role was important.
She had to make food delicious enough that they wouldn’t be able to turn down.
"That was how Melody comforted you." Clovis chuckled.
"All the Libation Fiesta members have their own roles. What about the two of us?" Hana pointed at herself and Vina. They were the only ones left. They weren’t members, so they didn’t know why they had been invited to be there.
"Hana, you were the one who brought all the supplies we needed. You provide everything so that the project can be done. You’re probably going to do everything to get all the supplies. Without you, the project couldn’t even start." Clovis chuckled.
"Ohhh! As expected, in every world, I’m rich." Hana harrumphed.
"Is it? Maybe you’re just a smuggler." Kanaria stuck out her tongue.
"You’re the one managing our logistics. If I’m a smuggler, you are definitely an accomplice." Hana grinned and circled her arm around Kanaria. "Aren’t you?"
"Of course. That’s what we’ve been doing in the first place." Kanaria laughed.
Clovis turned to Vina. "And you, you are doing the same thing. You monitor the situation and see if you can slow them down. It will be good if we can sow distrust among them."
"!!!" Vina raised her eyebrows in surprise. "Slow them down... Sow distrust among them... Who are they? They must be intelligent beings, right?"
"Most likely. Unfortunately, I couldn’t figure out what they are." Clovis shook his head helplessly.
Mara pointed at herself. "But what about my role? Everyone already has it..."
She was a bit confused. Even Hana said Clovis had told them about all the members’ roles.
But Clovis hadn’t said anything about her.
Clovis was startled, before chuckling. "Your role? You are the first one we mention... even before talking about this topic."
"Ah!" Mara almost forgot about that.
Clovis had to spell it out for her. "Well, I’m just going to say it word for word. You said...
"My power is the most basic. It’s just an enhancement of what a human is capable of. I want you to program it so that he can also wield my power in that world. Will it trick his brain into thinking that he has my power by the time he wakes up?"
As expected, it was what everyone had expected.
"You were the one who gave me this Abyss State." Clovis smiled. "You are trying to strengthen me."
Mara thought for a moment. "What about my role outside? After strengthening you, then what? Am I also entering this simulation world? Is the purpose of this world just to strengthen you?"
"That’s I don’t know, but you may be the one guarding this place. That’s what I’m going to talk about next. The system and the players."
After talking it out, Clovis couldn’t help but understand what the players meant. Looking at the situation, he was sure this was the reason.
Clovis’s expression turned solemn. "Players are..."
