Chapter 1117: Engagement Party

The next day, Mara came out of the bedroom while tying her hair into a ponytail. They used to see her in her battle suit, but this was the first time Mara looked so relaxed that she only wore a simple light purple pajama.

"Hmm?" Mara raised her head, looking at a few people gathering in the living room. "Are you talking about that?"

"Oh, Mara!" Christina waved her hand. "Yeah, we’re talking about the adjustment in the engagement party. Since we’re planning to have this among our families only, we need to put some care into it.

"For now, Erwin will be the MC. He will host it from start to finish. Aileen is here to watch the process since she also wants to have the same thing soon.

"Most of the things have been planned by the rest of our families, such as the guests, venues, and food.

"Rin will be leading the cooking. Kanaria has been reviewing the logistics so far. Melody is arranging the schedule and seeing if it works, since it needs a bit of adjustment to have you with us. For now, we will ensure that everyone, except for the main family, is out of the picture first.

"Angelia... You are also going to help to host it, right?"

"Yeah. I don’t mind." Angelia nodded.

Melody raised two fingers. "For now, the first half will last for three hours, from 6:00 to 9:00 at night, but the guests should be arriving from 4:00. We will let the people leave and start the main event at 10:00. You will appear there since only the main family will be left.

"For now, only Sir Ezekiel and Madam Aisha know about this, since we can’t let out any information about you yet. That’s fine, right?"

Mara nodded. "It’s fine even if you don’t include me."

"No. We have to. The current arrangement is already unfair to you, so we can’t make it worse."

"I understand."

"By the way, where is Clovis? Isn’t he with you? He needs to approve all this." Erwin asked.

"Clovis... is still sleeping," Mara answered innocently.

"Sleeping? Ohhhh!" Erwin covered his mouth in amusement, knowing what it meant. "I’m definitely not jealous."

Mara sighed. "It’s because he hasn’t mastered the Abyss State to surpass his limits."

"Pfft!" Erwin laughed. "That’s one way to put it. Hahahahaha. I’m definitely not jealous!"

Aileen just rolled her eyes, while Kanaria and Luci grabbed Mara’s hands each and bowed politely. "Big sister! You are our big sister!"

Christina only shook her head helplessly, looking at them. Melody just covered her face while raising her voice to avoid her embarrassment. "Anyway, you and Vina will be on the second part. Kanaria’s mother and Clovis’s mother are going to handle the makeup. You just need to try on the dress, Mara. You don’t mind wearing a dress, right?"

"Yeah. I don’t mind. Why? Is it wrong for me to wear one?" Mara asked nonchalantly.

"Pretend I didn’t ask that." Melody waved her hand.

The progress of the engagement party continued rapidly. They had to adjust everything, but the cores had been completed. They had started decorating everything. Since they wanted to keep it in the family, there wouldn’t be a lot of staff helping them.

Some families only brought out their head butlers or maids, since the more people knew about this event, the easier it was for it to spread.

In fact, what they feared truly happened a month later. Vina had heard people sniffing around about this engagement party. The people on Skynet were talking about it.

Still, the preparation was already completed, so they were just waiting for the date.

Time passed quickly and quietly, and the day for the engagement party had arrived.

Two people were sneaking around the building. One was a female who had worn formal clothes while holding a microphone, and the other was holding a big camera on his shoulder.

"Come here. I think we will be able to get a shot here." The woman waved her hand, leading it carefully.

However, when they were about to turn around the corner, a huge man suddenly stood in their path.

"!!!" The woman stopped and looked up. She couldn’t help but recognize the person. "You are... Ezekiel El—"

"Sorry, but you are not allowed to enter. There are a lot of rats around here. I just hope that you are not one of the rats I have to crush today." Ezekiel smiled. "Take them away, boys."

Suddenly, four people appeared behind them. They were the elite assassins from Aileen’s family.

They first covered their heads with clothes and brought them away. Those two struggled, but they couldn’t do anything as the next thing they realized, they were already outside the city.

On the other corner of the city, Michael grabbed a man’s head with a single hand before crushing it. There were six more people scattered around the area, already defeated.

"Today is a big day for me as a grandfather. I’m not going to let any of you ruin it."

The venue was actually being protected by two Tier 9 humans in the world, not to mention one of the brides happened to be a Tier 9 human as well.

However, they weren’t the only ones protecting it.

"You brat. Go south. You will find another group of rats coming."

"!!!" Michael raised his head. The one who informed him was none other than one of the greatest information brokers to ever live, Silvia. Yes, Clovis’s great-grandmother was the one who spotted them.

In fact, Reolf, Rea, and Freud were also asked to help with the protection. Jay and Ragna, in suits, defeated a few people as well.

The relatives were coming one by one. The Hacfield family and the Ezekiel family offered help with the escorts, so they could arrive safely. Though most of the main families had either been relocated to their city or already arrived a month prior to the party since they were helping with the preparations.

More and more people arrived as time passed. Surprisingly, before even 5:00, all the people had arrived. Then again, this engagement party was for the families to get to know each other, so they might want to use this opportunity to make even more connections as well. That was why they separated the close family members from the rest.
