The topic of aliens had never really gone away.

There had been several claims of alien discoveries, even captures, but they had all turned out to be nothing more than rumors.

"If you don’t want to talk about it, then don’t. You don’t have to make up some story about being an alien to fool me."

Seeing that Walt was unconvinced, Moira Lynch didn’t argue. She had expected this result.

"Still, I have to thank you for saving me," Walt said, thanking them again.

"You’re welcome. It was nothing."

"By the way, do you know what this talent I’ve awakened is called?" Walt asked curiously.

As he spoke, Walt suddenly grabbed one of his hands with the other.

He gave a slight tug, and with a crisp SNAP, the hand popped off like a building block.

Then, with a CLICK, he snapped it back on.

"There are many kinds of talents. I can’t be sure which one you’ve awakened. You’d need to be tested to find out," Moira Lynch said.

"So how do I get tested?" Walt asked excitedly.

"It requires professional testing equipment, which I don’t have."

Hearing this, Walt let out a disappointed "Oh..." but then he perked up again. ’I guess not knowing the name isn’t a big deal.’

"Well, can you tell me what talents you two have?"

"I can communicate with animals, and my brother has magic hands."

Walt was like a curious child, peppering Moira Lynch with questions, and she patiently answered every one.

An hour passed before Walt finally, and reluctantly, said goodbye to them.

Their previous hotel had been bugged, so they had moved to a new one.

After Walt left, Moira Lynch sank onto the sofa and let out a long sigh of relief. "We finally sent him on his way. Are you sure he’s that important to us?"

「A few hours earlier.」

Looking at the unconscious Walt, their original plan had been to take him to the hospital.

But when they got to the hospital, they were turned away.

The hospital staff politely explained that they were full of patients with "noise sickness." For minor ailments like a fever or cold, it was best to take some medicine and rest at home for a few days. If he wasn’t better by then, he could come back.

Having failed at the hospital, the two found a nearby hotel and got a room.

They were planning to drop him off in the room and let him fend for himself.

But then Hugh Finch happened to notice Walt’s features—a face like a full moon, a high, broad forehead. In short, the face of a fortunate person.

So, on a whim, he performed a divination for the man.

The hexagram revealed that this man was, surprisingly, a fated benefactor to them.

Only after learning this result did the subsequent events unfold.

"We just revealed our identities just like that. What if he tells someone? Don’t forget, we’re still being monitored," Moira Lynch said, her voice laced with uncertainty.

Revealing her alien identity to a complete stranger.

She had said it so casually at the time, but now, looking back, she felt a wave of fear.

"The hexagram indicated that we must treat this benefactor with complete honesty. Only then will he be able to save us when we’re in danger," Hugh Finch said, holding a copper coin in his hand.

"Did you switch props again? What happened to the turtle shell?"

"Didn’t bring it."

...

It wasn’t until the thirteenth day of the game that the two finally finished updating their map of Portmire.

The two returned to the hotel with four enormous shopping bags. Later that night, Moira Lynch, who had been fast asleep, suddenly snapped her eyes open. She heard a strange noise coming from downstairs.

After severing the neural connections to her ears, Moira Lynch extended her spiritual power. This was an effective way to reduce the interference from the ambient noise.

When her spiritual power reached the floor below, Moira Lynch was instantly stunned by the scene it revealed.

Her shock didn’t last long, as she then sensed the person downstairs open a door and start climbing the stairs.

They were staying on the top floor.

Which meant this person was most likely coming for them.

Without a moment’s hesitation, Moira Lynch rushed out of her room to wake up Hugh Finch in his.

Hugh Finch wasn’t asleep; he was meditating.

"What’s wrong? Why the panic?"

"There’s a murder happening downstairs."

Moira Lynch quickly explained what she had sensed.

"The killer is coming upstairs right now. I think they’re coming for us."

The words had barely left her lips when a series of frantic knocks echoed from the door.

"Open the door! Open the door! Open the door!!!"

When they reached the living room, they saw the closed door vibrating from the force of the blows, a clear sign of the strength the person outside was using.

At that moment, Moira Lynch also sensed a strange fluctuation coming from the person outside.

"Be careful, there’s something strange about the person outside," Moira Lynch whispered.

Hugh Finch pinched his fingers together, making a quick calculation. Upon seeing the result, his tense expression instantly relaxed. "Don’t worry, we’ll be fine. Don’t forget, we’re staying in the best hotel in Portmire."

As he spoke, Hugh Finch gestured for Moira Lynch to look toward the listening device. "Besides, we have an insurance policy."

Seeing that the people inside still weren’t opening the door, the person outside began to knock even more frantically, the sound so loud it seemed they wanted the entire hotel to hear.

However, the noise didn’t last long.

A flurry of hurried footsteps sounded from the hallway, and the knocking stopped abruptly. It was immediately followed by the sounds of a fierce struggle.

Moira Lynch kept her spiritual power focused on the events unfolding outside.

Outside, a group of people were already locked in a chaotic brawl.

Even while being besieged by multiple attackers, the person who had been knocking was surprisingly holding their own.

What shocked Moira Lynch even more was that the person was using two different talents simultaneously: Skin Hardening and Limb Elongation.

’I sensed several different auras tangled together outside earlier. Was this the reason?’

Just as she was pondering what was happening, the murderer outside, realizing they were no match for the group, crashed through a window with their body and leaped out.

The scene shocked everyone present.

"Chase!"

By the time the group chased him downstairs, there was nothing to be seen except for a crater smashed into the ground.

「The next morning.」

There was another knock on the door.

Moira Lynch opened it this time. Standing outside was the same police officer they had met a few days ago.

"Is something the matter?" Moira Lynch asked.

"Last night, a murder occurred on the floor below this room. I was wondering if you heard any disturbances?"

"Someone was knocking on our door yesterday," Moira Lynch said truthfully.

"What time?"

"Around three in the morning."
