Moira Lynch’s expression turned grim as she watched the bugs continue to pour out endlessly.

“How about we go find Carole Underwood first?” Moira Lynch suggested.

These bugs weren’t strong fighters, but they were endless. If they really tried to take them all on, they could very well get bogged down and killed here.

“Yeah, let’s go.” Kai York was also getting tired of the bugs. They were impossible to completely eradicate, utterly disgusting, and their cries were especially grating.

Looking at the dense, phobia-inducing army of bugs on the ground, Moira Lynch and Kai York decisively flew off in the direction of Shane Rhodes and Hugh Finch.

It wasn’t that they couldn’t win, it was just a strategic retreat.

When the army of bugs on the ground saw them trying to leave, it surged after them.

But since they were both flying, they could kill swaths of bugs with a single wave of their hands. The creatures, however, had no effective way to attack them besides their screeching.

Just then, a sharp sound came from the distance.

The bugs chasing them on the ground retreated, as if they had received some kind of command.

Seeing this, Moira Lynch and Kai York decisively stopped their departure, hovering in mid-air as they gazed into the distance.

“You got it too, right?” Kai York suddenly said.

Moira Lynch hummed softly. “The consciousness of this planet is treating us like heavy lifters.”

“Heavy lifters it is, then. Being able to end the game early is a good thing for us. I can’t stand another day in this godforsaken place.”

Kai York stretched languidly in the air, his body letting out a series of pops and cracks.

Just a moment ago, the two of them had almost simultaneously received a commission from this planet, requesting that they eliminate the pollution source: the Time Black Water.

As long as they could eliminate the Time Black Water, the planetary consciousness was willing to let them end the game early and return to their home planet, guaranteeing that the Cosmic Consciousness would no longer trouble them.

This offer was very tempting to Moira Lynch and Kai York.

After all, they had been through so many games—especially the last three. And while the monsters within posed them no threat, when it came to the environment, this game was by far the most hostile.

From the moment they entered the game until now, aside from the day or so Moira Lynch had spent in the base, they hadn’t had a moment’s rest.

“Let’s go. We’ll check it out. I’ve already locked onto the exact location of that sound.”

Since this was the final battle, and they were facing a monster like a pollution source, they would definitely have to pull out all the stops.

The two of them readied their weapons, placed their items in easily accessible spots, and after confirming they were armed to the teeth, they flew toward the location Moira Lynch had pinpointed.

After an unknown amount of time—perhaps a moment, perhaps an eternity—the two arrived at a lake that exuded a strange, unsettling aura.

It was eerie because the black fog here was the thickest they had seen, almost condensing into a solid substance. Their Intelligent Brains and 5S-class Mecha were both blaring warnings.

The pollution here was too severe; even the 5S-class Mecha were struggling to withstand it.

A desolate, deathly gray fog diffused through the air. The lake before them stretched out of sight, its entirety a pitch-black color.

It was like a pool of dead water. In such a hostile environment, not even the hardiest of creatures could possibly survive.

And yet, Moira Lynch could sense countless life forms hidden beneath the lake’s surface, radiating a dread-inducing aura.

Moira Lynch and Kai York exchanged a glance, and both saw a trace of despair in the other’s eyes.

They were strong, but that didn’t mean they were omnipotent. This thing in front of them called the Time Black Water was clearly not something they could handle.

Especially since the Time Black Water was also brewing some unknown kind of monster within it.

Just then, Moira Lynch had a flash of inspiration. She turned to Kai York to confirm, “We just need to deal with the Time Black Water. It didn’t specify what method to use, right?”

Kai York nodded. “That’s right. Have you thought of a way?”

Moira Lynch shrugged. “With our power, even if we add Shane Rhodes and Hugh Finch, we probably can’t do anything to this pool of Time Black Water. Unless Carole Underwood turns into a water buffalo and drinks it all in one go.”

But that was obviously impossible.

“So, what’s your plan?” Kai York asked.

As he spoke, he noticed the lake’s surface.

The once calm, rippleless water had started to bubble, as if something was about to emerge.

“A while ago, I spent a fortune to plant three bionic entities with Patience, you know? This time, before entering the game, I left something with each of them. They should be on their way by now.”

Kai York seemed to have guessed what Moira Lynch intended. He asked worriedly, “But if you do that, this planet’s location will be exposed. Is that really okay?”

At his words, Moira Lynch sneered. “If it’s not exposed, this planet and everyone on it will die. If it is exposed, they might be able to immigrate and live on other planets.

“You don’t actually think the people here can live in such severe pollution without any physical consequences, do you? And as for Carole Underwood, even if she went full throttle and purified everything, it would take several hundred years at the very least.”

“So, I’m saving them.”

As she spoke, Moira Lynch opened her chat window with Ellers and initiated a video call.

The call connected almost instantly.

“Hey, Moira, what can I do for—”

Ellers hadn’t finished his sentence when he noticed something was wrong on her end, as well as the two fully armed figures. His expression immediately turned serious.

With his sharp eye, he could easily deduce that the planet Moira Lynch was on was in a state of severe pollution.

“Where are you?”

“El, I’m calling to ask for your help. I’ve already sent you the planet’s coordinates. Also, we’ve found the source of this planet’s pollution.”

As she spoke, Moira Lynch turned her camera. “This lake is the pollution source. It’s called the Time Black Water. I’ve detected that something seems to be gestating inside it.”

The moment Ellers saw the Time Black Water, he knew he had underestimated this planet. If the pollution here were to leak, the entire starfield would likely be affected.

“Leave this to me. I’ve already notified the department that specializes in handling this. You two need to get away from that pollution source right now. Even The Federation’s most advanced 5S-class Mecha can’t withstand a direct attack from a pollution source for long.”
