Apocalypse Arrives: I Become a Powerhouse by Scavenging
Chapter 669 - 659: Hello 17
Anyone who’s ever owned a hamster is familiar with hamster balls—the little spheres you put them in to let them run around.
Right now, Moira Lynch and her friends were inside something that looked a lot like a hamster ball.
Of course, compared to an actual hamster ball, the sphere they were in was certainly far more advanced.
Just then, a white light flashed from Yarrow. A massive lion with a lush mane and a pair of wings sprouting from its back suddenly appeared, pouncing toward Moira.
When Shane Rhodes and the others saw the lion pounce, they instinctively tried to intervene, but the spheres encasing them hampered their movements.
About the only one who remained calm was Moira herself.
The moment she saw the lion, she recognized it. It was the same large lion Spiritual Body that had mooched food and drinks off her in her space.
Her calm expression didn’t last long, however; it quickly turned to one of terror.
It’s a well-known fact that felines have absolutely no resistance to ball-shaped toys. (I can’t speak for other people’s cats, but mine is exactly like this—zero resistance to balls.) So, when the lion pounced toward Moira, it failed to control its strength and sent her flying, sphere and all.
The lion watched the sphere go flying, then resumed pouncing, then chasing, pouncing, chasing.
Then, everyone watched as a giant white lion chased a rolling sphere all over the spaceship.
Meanwhile, Moira, inside her sphere, was knocked so dizzy that she couldn’t tell which way was up and was too disoriented to even cry for help.
After what felt like an eternity to Moira—though who knows how long it really was—Yarrow finally called out and stopped his frenzied Spiritual Body.
Hearing the command from its original self, the great White Lion let out a displeased roar.
’This guy is such a killjoy. Can’t he see I’m having a great time playing with the little one?’
Yarrow’s lips twitched as he felt his Spiritual Body’s thoughts.
’Having a great time? Are you sure about that?’
Still, after this little commotion from his Spiritual Body, he finally understood the source of his earlier feeling of familiarity and joy.
It turned out the joy was coming from his Spiritual Body.
Yarrow walked over to Moira.
Ship’s personnel had rushed over and set Moira’s sphere upright, but she was still in a daze. She stared blankly at the man walking toward her—broad-shouldered, long-legged, with a head of silver hair, a man so handsome it was infuriating—and was stunned for a moment.
"Hello. My name is Yarrow. Thank you for helping my Spiritual Body not long ago."
Hearing Yarrow’s words, the other two—Ellers included—couldn’t help but look over.
They were all privy to the details. About a year ago, Marshal Yarrow was betrayed by an insider and fell into a trap laid by pirates.
Yarrow had engaged in a fierce battle with the Pirate Leader. Though he ultimately managed to kill the Pirate Leader, he was grievously wounded himself, and his Spiritual Body had even vanished.
When they first heard the news, they all thought Yarrow was finished. Even if his physical wounds healed, his combat effectiveness would be drastically reduced without his Spiritual Body.
To say nothing of the fact that the Spiritual Body had been critically injured when it vanished; its survival was not even a certainty.
Yarrow was the youngest of the three. Just as the other two were mourning the imminent fall of a genius, something miraculous happened.
Not only did Yarrow recover in an incredibly short amount of time, but his spiritual power hadn’t been damaged in the slightest. In fact, he had grown even stronger.
You could say that, aside from being unable to summon his Spiritual Body, he had become more powerful than ever.
It was because of this formidable combat prowess that he remained firmly seated in his position as Marshal, even after losing his Spiritual Body.
Besides, it wasn’t unheard of across the galaxy for people to manifest a new Spiritual Body after losing their first.
Just when everyone was wondering and waiting for Yarrow to manifest a new Spiritual Body, his original one returned.
And it returned openly, swaggering back as if it owned the place.
After a thorough examination, they were amazed to discover that the White Lion, his Spiritual Body, bore no lingering traces of its injuries. In fact, it had grown even stronger.
Someone then connected the recent changes in Yarrow to his Spiritual Body.
It all added up. Everything finally made sense.
They had originally thought Yarrow recovered so quickly because of his own inherent strength, but they never imagined it was due to feedback from his spiritual power.
And now, they received an even more shocking piece of news: the one who had saved Yarrow’s Spiritual Body was this young girl in front of them, who looked like she wasn’t even an adult yet.
Seeing their shocked expressions, Ellers, who was standing to the side, added, "It wasn’t just Yarrow, you know. When I was attacked, Moira was the one who saved me, too."
At this, the gazes of the other two on Moira grew even more intense. Even Yarrow looked slightly surprised.
’When I asked Ellers about it before, he kept his mouth shut. I never thought it was because of her, too.’
Connecting this to the gift that bionic entity had delivered earlier, Yarrow’s eyes flickered. ’The person before me might just possess an extremely rare dual talent.’
At this thought, a look of absolute determination flashed in his eyes.
"Moira Lynch, I, in my capacity as Marshal, formally invite you to join my legion. You have but to agree, and you can name any price."
’If my guess is right,’ he thought, ’forget conditions. Even if Moira wanted to ride on my shoulders every day, I wouldn’t have a single objection.’
Moira was stunned by Yarrow’s words. ’What is happening?’
Seeing this, the other two immediately realized Yarrow’s reasoning and cursed themselves for being a step too slow.
"Moira, join my army," Jeanette Norris said. "Whatever Yarrow offers, I’ll double it."
"I’ll give you ten times that," Dustin Foster added, not to be outdone.
"Hold on."
Just then, Shane Rhodes and the others finally snapped out of their shock.
The three hamster balls worked in concert, pushing Moira’s sphere out of the crowd and then shielding it protectively behind them.
"Moira is with us! This has nothing to do with you," Kai York said.
A single sentence plunged both sides into a standoff.
Yarrow, Jeanette Norris, and Dustin Foster had long held positions of power, and the aura they exuded was something no ordinary person could match.
But as the saying goes, a newborn calf doesn’t fear the tiger. Shane Rhodes and his two friends had no idea who these three people were. Even sensing the threat, they still refused to back down. They might have been outmatched, but they made up for it with raw talent.
Seeing the standoff, Moira quietly rolled her sphere over toward Ellers.
She saw him busy at a console. On the screen below, the planet they had just left was displayed.
