Apocalypse: Grinding EXP through Hunting

Chapter 378: Chapter 277: The Huang Family Really Dares to Make a Move?
The sun filled the room with light.
Tang Wen opened his eyes, feeling refreshed and full of energy.
He had only gone to sleep at dawn, and the sun had just risen, hanging low in the sky.
He took out his pocket watch. Only a little over an hour had passed.
In the Unity Mirror, Hu Lan still hadn’t replied.
He didn’t leave the room. Instead, he sank his Spiritual Power into the Void Stone, rummaging through its contents, but even after a good while, he couldn’t find any pain-relieving herbs.
There were plenty of Elixirs refined from Extraordinary Blood Marrow, but those were meant to aid in Cultivation.
He also had a good supply of Extraordinary Blood Marrow and Sixth Grade Exotic Beast Blood Marrow. Time didn’t seem to exist inside the Void Stone, and its preservation effects were beyond imagination.
The potent life essence of the Blood Marrow was preserved to the fullest.
However, drinking it would only cause even more pain.
The main gate opened, and someone entered the courtyard.
Peeking through the paper-paned window, he saw a small figure with a pair of pigtails bouncing on her head.
Tang Wen stepped outside. Seeing him, Li Zi gave a sweet smile. "Sir, Sister Qi has asked for you."
The main street was spotless; not even the ashes from the bonfires remained.
To guard the several Sixth Grade captives, Hu Qi was staying in the Royal Palace.
Upon seeing Tang Wen, he let out a lazy yawn. "My clansmen just used the Dream Book to inform me that they encountered three Fifth-Grade individuals on their way here."
Hm?
Tang Wen raised an eyebrow.
Hu Qi continued, "I saw what the three of them looked like in the dream. I just had the captives look at some sketches and confirmed they’re from the Huang Family."
"Three Fifth-Graders?"
"Don’t worry. None of them are at the Peak of Fifth Grade. I can dispatch the others with a flick of my claw." The Big Cat lazily extended its claws, which glinted with a metallic, chilling light.
Tang Wen paced back and forth.
After a moment of thought, he said, "We can’t wait for them to come to us."
The Big Cat opened his eyes and stretched. "Intercepting them on the road? That’s my specialty."
"Yes, with a bit of courtesy before the conflict. First, we’ll rendezvous with the other two senior White Tigers, then we’ll go pay them a visit."
"What do you mean?"
"When the time comes, we’ll have the other two senior White Tigers go invisible."
The Big Cat blinked.
Tang Wen grinned. "Three against one. With such a golden opportunity, do you think they’ll be able to resist making a move?"
"You humans are so devious!"
"What’s so devious about it? It’s called strategy."
With no time to waste, Tang Wen and Hu Qi took the two surviving Sixth Grade captives and flew south.
The boundless earth flashed by below them.
After flying at lightning speed for two hours, they rendezvoused with the two White Tigers who had come as reinforcements.
The man and three tigers exchanged a few brief pleasantries.
Tang Wen rode on Hu Qi’s back, taking the lead. The other two White Tigers, whom he had rendered invisible with his Invisibility Technique, followed quietly in the distance.
They maintained a staggered formation, not flying in a direct line.
One of the White Tigers, a powerhouse at the Peak of Fifth Grade, sent out a probe with its Spiritual Power, sweeping an area hundreds of miles wide in an instant.
An hour or two passed, but there was still no sign of the Huang Family’s Fifth-Grade members.
And yet, Tang Wen and his group were taking the fastest route to Flame Camp.
"There can’t be any other camps around here, can there?" Hu Qi’s voice came through clearly over the sound of the wind.
Tang Wen understood his meaning. It was the dry season, and the winter sky was clear.
There wasn’t a single cloud in the sky.
Not to mention his own vision was sharp enough to make out individual trees and stones all the way to the horizon.
Hu Qi’s piercing eyes glinted with an unusual light; he was clearly using a Pupil Technique.
Even so, they found no trace of any camps or villages.
"How about we try flying in this pattern?" Tang Wen gestured in front of Ah Qi’s eyes, tracing a large ’S’ in the air.
Ah Qi nodded. "Oh, that’s kind of like the shape of your human females. I really don’t get you humans. All hairless, yet you’re so eager to touch each other. You only have a little bit of fur on your heads. It’s not pretty at all, and you’re not even fluffy to the touch, are you..."
Muttering to himself, Ah Qi nevertheless began to fly in the S-shaped pattern Tang Wen had indicated.
They flew on for a while longer.
Suddenly, Ah Qi retracted his sprawling Spiritual Power.
"They’re mating."
"What?"
’What in the world is he talking about?’
’Could it be?’
Ah Qi’s tone was one of resignation. "I’ve found them. They’re in a cave. But... the three of them appear to be mating."
He finished with a huge roll of his eyes.
Tang Wen’s brain short-circuited. "How do three men mate? Er, I mean—"
He was cut off before he could finish. "Two men, one woman."
"Tsk. They’re really getting wild."
"Should we wait for them to finish mating before we go down?"
This was giving Tang Wen a headache. He frowned, trying to figure out how they could stage a ’chance’ encounter.
Only a seemingly chance meeting would make their opponents lower their guard.
Once their guard was down, they would see that Tang Wen only had one White Tiger with him, and they might just be tempted to kill him.
But a look around revealed a vast, desolate wasteland. The earth was cracked and barren, and trees were so sparse you could walk for half a day without seeing a single one.
On the rare occasion they did spot one, it had either been stripped clean of its bark or had its roots dug up, and was long dead.
In the wilderness, there are no roads, yet every direction is a path.
Under these conditions, bumping into someone by chance was about as likely as two ships colliding in the middle of a vast ocean.
As he wracked his brain, the people below were still... deeply engaged in their exchange.
Tang Wen was done waiting.
’Time to manufacture a chance encounter!’
’The key is to make it feel completely random to them.’
’And what could be more random than being interrupted mid-act? Talk about a surprise!’
A wicked smile touched his lips as he spoke a few words.
Hu Qi dropped from the sky, charging toward the cave.
Inside the cave, a "battle" was raging that would leave any ordinary person terrified.
The Constitution of a Fifth-Grade Powerhouse was truly remarkable.
For them, this kind of activity was like fighting; once the mood was right, the action was naturally swift.
Never mind an ordinary person; even a Martial Artist or an Extraordinary would only be able to see a blur of shifting figures and hear a continuous stream of sound.
THUD, THUD, THUD! The White Tiger’s wild dash kicked up a cloud of sand and gravel.
A howling wind trailed in its wake.
He made no effort to be loud, but he made no effort to be quiet, either.
