Chapter 379: Chapter 277: The Huang Family Really Dares to Attack?
"There’s a mountain up ahead. A good place to stop. These two are about to die... No, I can’t let that happen. I’m still hoping to trade their lives for a reward from the Huang Family."
The sound of the wind, accompanied by the young man’s pleasant voice, drifted into the cave.
The three Fifth-Grades were taken aback.
Even amidst their indulgence, they still maintained a basic level of alertness.
The men immediately stopped what they were doing and exchanged a glance. They both saw a hint of relief in the other’s eyes.
It was the kind of relief that comes from being interrupted.
It couldn’t be helped. When comparing those of the same Level, the men were always at a disadvantage.
For male Fifth-Grades, female Seventh Grade Extraordinaries and Eighth Grade Martial Artists were much more popular.
Of course, freaks like Tang Wen were an exception.
Although the female Fifth-Grade was displeased, she knew her priorities.
Shaking off the sand, she put her clothes back on, her face a mask of fury!
’I was finally about to have some fun! What bastard dares to interrupt me?!’
Without even putting on her shoes, she strode barefoot out of the cave entrance.
She even tossed a sentence over her shoulder, "This time doesn’t count. I’ll remember this, you two."
That single sentence shocked both men.
She walked out of the cave entrance and happened to see Tang Wen several hundred meters away.
At that distance, a normal person wouldn’t even be able to tell a man from a dog.
But for the Fifth-Grade woman and Tang Wen, they could count the stray hairs on each other’s foreheads.
The moment she saw Tang Wen clearly, the woman’s eyes lit up, and she squeezed her thighs together.
’What a handsome young man. And that body... he looks perfectly toned.’
’His aura is only at the Extraordinary level, but judging by his looks and age, he’s worth grooming! Absolutely worth grooming!’
She swallowed.
Her earlier resentment completely vanished.
Seeing Tang Wen looking at her, she couldn’t help but strike a dignified, ladylike pose, waiting quietly for Tang Wen to approach.
The two men came out of the cave behind her.
Just as she was about to warn them, she suddenly heard Lin Zhiheng exclaim in surprise.
"What is it?" she transmitted.
Lin Zhiheng’s explanation sounded in their ears, "That’s Tang Wen!"
"Hmm, so that’s Tang Wen?" The woman’s gaze cooled, and she nodded repeatedly. "He really lives up to his reputation as Ganshan City’s most handsome man."
The two men behind her simultaneously curled their lips in disdain.
Lin Zhiheng looked at the two people being dragged on the ground. "Wait, why is he coming from the north!"
An ominous feeling surfaced in the minds of the three.
The charging White Tiger across from them also came to a halt.
Lin Zhiheng, the Huang Family’s son-in-law, now got a clear look at the two people being dragged behind the White Tiger. "Those two are my subordinates!"
"What?"
"Damn it! They failed! It looks like they’re barely breathing!"
Lin Zhiheng ground his teeth. As a son-in-law who had married into the family, he didn’t have many subordinates to command, especially not Sixth-Grade Masters.
Despite his anger, he didn’t dare to advance alone. Looking at the woman, the strongest of the three, he said, "The family suspects Tang Wen came from a camp somewhere to the north. I sent those two, and it looks like they ran right into him."
"What happened? Before we came, weren’t we told Tang Wen hadn’t left Ganshan City?"
"How should I know? That’s what the family spies reported."
"Then what good are you? Couldn’t you have made more inquiries?"
"You—"
"Enough! This is no time to argue." The woman’s voice cut them off decisively. Her gaze shifted to the White Tiger beneath Tang Wen. "Old Lin, it seems Tang Wen only has this one White Tiger protecting him. Three against one, this is our chance."
"This...?" Lin Zhiheng’s eyes showed hesitation.
The other man also chimed in, "Such a coincidence? He just happens to appear in the middle of the vast wilderness? And with only one White Tiger?"
Although the suspicion was reasonable, the female Fifth-Grade knew he had chickened out.
"What’s there to be afraid of? I’ve also entered the ranks of top-tier Fifth-Grades. With the two of you, if we make a sudden move and heavily injure that White Tiger in an instant, the rest will be simple." The woman’s transmitted tone was icy and full of confidence. "I guarantee they won’t be able to beat us, and they won’t be able to escape!"
"Tang Wen seems to know an Invisibility Technique. You shouldn’t be careless." Lin Zhiheng’s eyes darted left and right. "Maybe there are other masters nearby."
"Hah! The family already investigated. Tang Wen is suspected of having ties to the remnants of the Thief Sect. His Invisibility comes from the Thief Sect’s Moon Traveling Clothes; someone saw it with their own eyes."
The White Tiger Tribe had appeared out of nowhere.
Tang Wen had risen as an unexpected force.
The Huang Family’s dominant position vanished in an instant.
If they didn’t start studying Tang Wen, the Huang Family would have been wiped out long ago!
Once the Huang Family got serious and focused its full power on investigating one person, no one could avoid revealing a flaw.
Tang Wen was no exception.
The woman gazed at Tang Wen’s handsome face, which was perfectly suited to her tastes. She took a deep breath, suppressed the greed in her heart, and steadied her mind. "Old Lin, look angrier. You go first. As for whether we attack, we’ll see how the situation develops."
Mental voice transmissions are extremely fast.
If an outsider had been there, from their perspective, the three would have emerged from the cave, hesitated for a moment—less than a breath’s time—and then begun walking toward Tang Wen together, looking slightly angry.
As the family’s son-in-law, Lin Zhiheng was reluctant to take the lead. So what if his subordinates were killed? He could just train more later.
But under the urging of the beautiful Fifth-Grade woman, he had no choice but to bite the bullet and be the first to step forward, coming face to face with the Peak of Fifth Grade White Tiger.
"They’ve been deliberating for a while now." Tang Wen felt something was off.
"More than that. Although they seem surprised to see you here, I have a gut feeling they came for you!"
"They came for me?"
"I’m afraid so."
Tang Wen was taken aback. He then remembered something from when he had interrogated the Sixth-Grade captives separately.
They had all said that they suddenly received a message from Lin Zhiheng.
He had ordered them to conquer the northern camps and bring them under his control as soon as possible.
Originally, Tang Wen thought Lin Zhiheng was just eager to avenge his illegitimate son and afraid that other factions would beat him to the punch and seize the camps.
’Now it seems there might have been another meaning?’
"Could the Huang Family be preparing to move against me?" Tang Wen habitually prepared for the worst, always assuming the worst-case scenario.
As he said this, Hu Qi reminded him, "That’s inevitable."
After a moment’s thought, Tang Wen nodded. "You’re right. To ordinary factions, my background is untraceable and quite mysterious. But for the Huang Family, if they really put in the effort to investigate, they should be able to uncover quite a bit."
For one thing, when he first arrived near Ganshan City, his first stop was the Four Seas Camp.
At the time, he had entered through the north gate riding a Sand Wolf.
The Sand Wolf would have left some traces along the way.
And plenty of people had seen Tang Wen’s group.
Based on that point alone, they could determine he came from the north.
With the Huang Family’s power, after investigating all the northern villages in their territory, they would realize that Tang Wen most likely came from even further north.
That’s why they reacted so quickly when they received the message from Black Mountain Camp.
They probably guessed that the camps in the distant Northern Border were connected to him.
Almost immediately, they dispatched the five nearest Sixth-Grade elites to launch a surprise attack on Flame Camp.
And now, before him, stood three Fifth-Grades.
’Was it really necessary to send three Fifth-Grades for a few remote northern camps?’
Even Hu Qi felt that the woman among them would be trouble.
They had clearly come prepared.
’Huang Family!’
Tang Wen repeated the name in his mind, now certain they had come for him.
Thinking of this, he was secretly relieved he had returned in time.
Otherwise, if his sister and Zhou Bing fell into the Huang Family’s hands, the consequences would be unimaginable.
The three of them strode forward.
The White Tiger let out a furious roar. The soundwave blasted out, sending sand and stones flying.
"Are you Young Master Tang Wen?" Lin Zhiheng struck first with a false accusation. "Those two you’re dragging behind you are my Sixth-Grade subordinates, as close to me as my own limbs! Why have you cut off my limbs? Do you think the Huang Family is a pushover?!"
Tang Wen sneered. ’You’re asking me?’
’I should be the one asking you!’
’Lin Zhiheng, the Huang Family’s son-in-law who married in, right?’
’Good thing you admit they’re your "limbs"!’
’Why don’t you tell me why your "limbs" attacked a subordinate camp of mine and the White Tiger Tribe?!’
’Are you trying to tear up the agreement made by the two Fourth-Grades? Are you trying to start a war?!’
As he thought this, the three of them closed in.
Tang Wen ordered Hu Qi to retreat quickly, while shouting in alarm, "Stop! Stop right there! Someone! Send a message back! The Huang Family is declaring war on the White Tiger Tribe!"
He yelled and screamed, completely disregarding his image as a handsome young master.
Lin Zhiheng’s steps faltered.
The other Fifth-Grade man sneered, "Young Master Tang Wen, don’t try to bluff. There’s no one else around!"
Tang Wen first feigned surprise, then glared, sneering repeatedly. "You just try me!"
The female Fifth-Grade’s heart stirred. ’This kid is bluffing!’
’This really is the perfect chance to strike!’
Across from him, the three Fifth-Grades simultaneously unleashed their auras.
A murderous atmosphere filled the air.
Tang Wen sneered internally. ’They really want to do this?!’
