Chapter 306: Chapter 241: I Said It Isn’t Creation From Nothing, So It Isn’t

The figure brandishing the long spear was Lin Fan.

And that woman, forged in the crucible of life and death, had unknowingly begun to catch up to that monster, becoming the sharpest part of his shadow.

"What does that make me...?" Ye Qingniao’s fingers whitened as she gripped the railing, muttering, "Does that mean I’m the only dead weight here?"

Cheng Qi was also watching, stunned. The cigarette in his hand burned down to the filter, scorching his fingers. He flicked his hand, lit another, and walked over to Ye Qingniao, offering it to her. "Want one?"

All he got in return was a huge eye roll.

"Don’t be discouraged."

Cheng Qi said jokingly, sheepishly sticking the cigarette in his own mouth.

"You’re the Yin Celestial War God, after all..."

"You’re the Yin Celestial War God!"

Like a cat whose tail had been stepped on, the disappointment in Ye Qingniao’s eyes vanished. She puffed out her chest and said defensively, "I was just... I was observing the wind speed!"

Just then, a long shout echoed from the other side of the broken bridge.

"That’s about enough! You two, pull back now!"

The potion’s effects were fading fast. Lin Fan knew time was almost up, so he yelled out.

In just a few minutes of slaughter, this small section of the bridgehead, just a few dozen square meters, had been utterly transformed into a slaughterhouse.

The original, flat concrete surface was no longer visible. "A mountain of corpses in a sea of blood" was no longer a figure of speech, but a literal description of the scene.

Mangled corpses were piled at least two layers deep. Dark, brackish blood flowed like a creek down the incline and into the river. The heap of rotting flesh was almost high enough to spill over the guardrails.

The frenzied zombies clambered over the dam of their own dead. What started as a frontal assault was now turning into a deluge from above, with zombies poised to leap down on Lin Fan’s head.

His kill rate was dropping, while the morass of rotten flesh and shattered bone underfoot only grew deeper.

Su Qing and Chu Zhaozhao, both drenched in filth and blood, heard the command and disengaged without a moment’s hesitation. They weren’t the least bit worried about leaving Lin Fan’s flanks exposed.

The instant he finished shouting, the two women retreated a step in perfect unison on the slick, unsteady pile of corpses.

Then, Su Qing raised her heavy metal spear high, while Chu Zhaozhao tightly gripped a bloody steel rebar in each hand.

"Go!"

A glimmer of light flashed in Chu Zhaozhao’s eyes as she activated her ability.

The metal in their hands seemed to be seized by a great, invisible hand, lifting their bodies into the air in defiance of gravity.

As if holding onto a transparent ski lift, they were guided by Chu Zhaozhao’s power, soaring through the air in an elegant parabola and clearing the twenty-odd-meter chasm with ease.

Thump.

The pair landed lightly on their side of the broken bridge, right next to a dumbfounded Ye Qingniao.

"Spread out! Make room for Lin Fan!" Chu Zhaozhao yelled the moment she landed, holding out an arm to usher the others back.

They had just cleared an open space when a deep, thunderous roar erupted from the far side of the bridge!

BOOM—!

With his two supports gone, the layered, seemingly endless tide of corpses surged forward like a bursting dam, threatening to drown Lin Fan.

An invisible wave of force erupted from the spine of the greatsword in his hand as he spun with all his might!

WHOOSH—!

The terrifying centrifugal force, combined with jets of air, whipped up a tornado of gore and viscera.

The dozens of zombies that had been lunging forward were instantly shredded by the brutish force. Countless limbs, chunks of flesh, and severed heads were violently flung outwards in all directions, like an exploding nova of gore, before plummeting into the churning river below.

The instantaneous clearing revealed the concrete bridge deck beneath Lin Fan’s feet, now viscous and black from its soaking in foul blood.

In that brief instant—the momentum of his spin spent, the next wave of zombies yet to arrive—

The heavy greatsword in Lin Fan’s hand vanished abruptly.

Freed of its weight, his body coiled like a tightly drawn bow. He launched himself off the slick, gore-covered ground in a powerful leap!

THOOM!

He shot into the air, tracing a black arc across the sky. Like a meteor, he soared over the gap and plummeted toward the empty space in front of the others.

THUD! SPLAT—

The moment Lin Fan landed, inertia took over. The caked-on blood and gore on his clothes and hair were flung off, splattering on the ground and creating a dark brown ring of filth around his feet.

At the same time, scalding white steam began to rise from his body—the heat radiating from his core after such extreme exertion.

"Look, these are the spoils..."

He reached out, holding his hand palm-down in the empty air before him.

A second later, a strange ripple spread through the air.

Accompanied by a deafening CLATTER of metal on metal, a torrent of miscellaneous items poured out of the void beneath his palm, like a bursting flood!

Countless metal spheres, Blades, spools of steel wire, rolls of tape, scraps of cloth, pieces of leather, and all sorts of other materials materialized from the void in front of his palm. They rained down onto the ground, piling up into a small mountain in the blink of an eye.

Ye Qingzhou bent down in a daze and picked up a piece of rubber that had rolled to her feet. She sniffed it, then set it down and picked up a sharp Blade. She absentmindedly swiped it across her finger, drawing a line of blood.

"Hiss—"

"It hurts..."
