Chapter 305: Chapter 241: I Told You It’s Not Creation From Nothing (Part 2)
As Lin Fan swung the nearly two-meter-long black greatsword in his hands, the clearing—a space of over a dozen square meters smashed open by a lamppost—was brutally expanded by several more meters in the blink of an eye.
Driven completely mad by the chaotic sounds and the smell of blood, the zombies at the rear trampled over the still-twitching severed limbs and torsos underfoot, roaring and piling over one another as they rushed forward, attempting to overwhelm the intruder with their sheer numbers.
However, whenever the zombie horde was on the verge of surrounding him, the spine of the greatsword in Lin Fan’s hand would erupt with an eerie blue light.
WHIRR—BOOM!
[Impact Crystal] activated.
The already powerful and heavy slash instantly gained a terrifying secondary acceleration. The heavy blade became a black afterimage impossible to follow with the naked eye, sweeping forward with a suffocating blast of air pressure!
This was no longer a slash, but a small-scale, directional explosion.
Wherever the blade passed, everything from rotten flesh to hard bone exploded into a shower of gore upon contact.
The ferocious gale even blasted the piles of mangled corpses behind the sword, flinging them into the air and sending a few unlucky zombies near the bridge’s edge splashing into the churning river below.
Like a heavy-duty combine harvester at full throttle plowing through a wheat field, every swing cleared a fan-shaped, gory "absolute vacuum" in the dense horde.
Su Qing finally understood why Lin Fan had handed her the spear. She slapped the stupefied Chu Zhaozhao, who was still gawking at the scene, and jabbed the injectors into her own arm and then Zhaozhao’s.
The potion took effect instantly. A warm current swept through their bodies, washing away their pain and fatigue. Re-energized, the two women gripped the spear’s shaft and followed closely behind Lin Fan, crossing the gap.
SPLAT.
The two landed steadily inside the "safe corner" behind Lin Fan, a space now slick with gore.
The moment she landed, Su Qing flicked her wrist, smoothly taking control of the spear. She couldn’t activate the impact power of this original spear forged by Lin Fan, but its incredible weight and extreme sharpness still made it a deadly weapon in the hands of the impressively strong Su Qing.
She didn’t need any flashy moves, simply using the spear’s length to her advantage with simple thrusts and sweeps. Its sharp tip easily pierced zombie skulls and severed their spines.
The effects of the potion, combined with most of her Life Value already restored, brought her back to nearly peak condition. She wielded the spear in an impenetrable flurry, turning the zombies trying to flank them into "flesh-and-blood sandbags" that impeded the horde.
Chu Zhaozhao’s injuries were no hindrance to her fighting. Although she had lost the "Flying Sword" Lin Fan had given her, the short steel rebars sharpened at both ends were not without their advantages.
Four Flying Shuttles zipped back and forth like a swarm of hornets guarding a nest. She even used her range advantage to kill zombies deep within the horde, their falling bodies tripping up the ones pushing from behind.
For a time, the three of them formed an unbreakable iron triangle on the broken bridge.
With the greatsword-wielding Lin Fan as the sharp tip of the spear, Su Qing’s spear and Chu Zhaozhao’s Flying Shuttles guarded the flanks. The trio was like a red-hot iron wedge, driving viciously into the vast and crowded zombie horde on the broken bridge. They held down a corner of the bridge, relentlessly reaping the lives of the walking corpses.
On their side of the broken bridge, only the assault vehicle’s engine was still idling, emitting a low, monotonous hum that sounded like the only heartbeat in the wasteland.
The post-rain sunset, a fiery orange-red, slanted across the river, dyeing the glittering water the color of blood. It also illuminated the bloody, violent "solo performance" unfolding on the other side of the broken bridge in perfect detail.
The three who remained behind all wore different expressions. Cheng Qi was smoking, Ye Qingzhou was recording data in a notebook, and only Ye Qingniao felt a complex mix of emotions.
"...Monsters."
She slowly walked to the edge of the broken bridge. Watching the three figures rampaging through the horde, she squeezed a single word from her dry throat.
As a "Warrior"—even if only self-proclaimed—she couldn’t help but feel a bitter pang when faced with such a scene.
This bitterness wasn’t jealousy, but a sense of uncertainty.
’I originally thought I could fight shoulder-to-shoulder with Lin Fan, that I was more capable than those two women. Getting ambushed by that gunman before was just a tactical mistake—after all, a person is no match for a firearm.’
’But looking at those two over there now... even that "little girl," who couldn’t be much older than me, was able to coordinate with Lin Fan at the front. She controlled those iron rods, moving so fast they were nearly invisible, and every pass precisely eliminated zombies attempting to flank Lin Fan, intercepting the horde.’
’That synergy, that fearless composure in the face of a zombie horde... it wasn’t something a normal girl should possess.’
What frustrated Ye Qingniao even more was Su Qing, the one wielding the spear.
That woman—usually so gentle and soft-spoken, so buxom that Ye Qingniao had secretly nicknamed her "Cow" in her head—seemed like a completely different person at this moment.
The silver spear in her hand swung in wide, powerful arcs. There were no flashy techniques, only pure strength and speed. Each blow from the heavy shaft smashed the bones of approaching zombies, while the sharp spearhead decapitated those at a distance.
It was a fighting style that perfectly mimicked Lin Fan’s.
Brutal, direct, efficient.
If not for the choppy, shoulder-length hair dancing in the wind, if not for the voluptuous figure that even loose sportswear couldn’t hide, Ye Qingniao would have had the absurd, fleeting impression that—
