Chapter 304: Chapter 241: I Said It’s Not Creation From Nothing, and It’s Not
"It’s not like I’m creating things out of thin air. There are raw materials..." Lin Fan said, hopping off the car’s running board and pointing at the dense black mass of zombies on the other side of the bridge. "I mean, what else is there to say?"
"So you’re saying that when you kill these zombies and monsters, ’things’ appear in your mind, and these things can be materialized in the real world..."
"Right," Lin Fan said with a nod.
"And you can use occasionally appearing ’rare items’ to rework existing objects, ’shaping’ them into any form you can imagine, using those ’things’ from before as the filling material..."
"Exactly," Lin Fan said, nodding again and handing her a lump of scrap metal.
"And these ’shaped’ items can also be combined with the crystals from Mutated Zombies to apply the corresponding crystal’s ability..."
"Right, right, right." Lin Fan’s head bobbed in agreement, his expression clearly saying, ’You summed it up perfectly.’
"..." Having confirmed everything, Ye Qingzhou reached out for the lump of metal, cupping it in her palm to observe it.
Although she took a deep breath and fell silent, Lin Fan could hear the frantic beating of her heart in her chest.
Her calm eyes would occasionally lift to meet Lin Fan’s gaze, but the violent trembling deep in her pupils betrayed the tempest raging in her heart.
Nearby, Ye Qingniao and Cheng Qi’s eyes went wide as they leaned in to look at the metal lump together. They looked as if they were hearing something utterly incomprehensible, and also as if they were seeing Lin Fan for the very first time. Their mouths hung slightly open, wanting to ask something but unable to find the words.
Only Su Qing and Chu Zhaozhao stood off to the side, leaning against the car.
Su Qing had already witnessed the miracle of Lin Fan shaping that shield for her, so she simply watched him now with a knowing smile. Chu Zhaozhao, on the other hand, stood with her arms crossed, wearing the smug expression of a veteran who was thinking, ’I knew he had a system all along.’ She even raised an eyebrow at the "little bird," Ye Qingniao.
"Like this, for example..." Seeing their expressions, Lin Fan glanced from side to side, then simply summoned his spear. White light flowed briefly over the spearhead, and then he swung it casually!
CLANG!
With a sharp sound, a tall lamppost next to the broken bridge was instantly severed at its base!
The heavy, unsupported lamppost tilted under the force of gravity, whistling through the air before crashing with a loud CLANG onto the empty ground in front of them!
Lin Fan casually handed the spear to Su Qing beside him, along with two potions, then strode to the middle of the fallen lamppost.
Sinking into a solid stance, he gripped the rough surface of the lamppost with both hands. With almost no effort, he steadily hoisted the steel pole—over ten meters long and weighing four to five hundred pounds—and lifted it over his head!
Lin Fan adjusted his center of gravity and strode to the jagged edge of the broken bridge. Facing the horde of zombies on the other side with their rotting arms outstretched, as if crying out to be fed, the muscles in his arms bulged as he let out a low shout:
"Take this!"
VWOOM—!
The heavy lamppost flew across the gap with a low whistle, tearing through the air. It tumbled through the sky and smashed into the zombie horde, causing a series of dull thuds as it transformed into an efficient reaping machine.
It had no sharp edges, but in the face of such immense kinetic energy, the dozen or so zombies that took the brunt of the impact were instantly smashed in two at the waist. Broken spines and shattered organs sprayed through the air.
The force of the impact was uneven, causing the lamppost to start spinning like a broom. It brutally swept through a fan-shaped area, snapping the bones and tendons of several dozen more zombies and sending them flying in all directions like bowling pins.
The once-crowded bridgehead was instantly cleared, leaving behind a small "clearing" paved with dark red paste and twisted limbs.
"Go!" Lin Fan shouted, then suddenly accelerated.
Right at the edge of the broken bridge, he stomped his right foot down hard!
THUD!
An explosive crack echoed as the hard concrete road beneath his foot instantly fractured into a spiderweb of cracks. Propelled by the reactive force, he shot across the twenty-odd-meter abyss like a cannonball, soaring high into the air with a whistle of wind!
In mid-air, he had a clear, unobstructed view of the murky river water and the savage zombie horde below.
SPLAT—!
His feet didn’t make a sharp crack upon landing, but rather a sticky, muffled thud.
He had landed on the "carpet of flesh and blood" paved with shredded meat, bone fragments, and viscera.
The immense impact of his landing directly caused the zombie carcass under his feet—one that hadn’t completely disintegrated, or was perhaps still squirming with a broken spine—to explode. Black, filthy blood mixed with rotten flesh erupted like mud, splattering more than two meters away and leaving two deep footprints in the ground.
The surrounding zombies caught the scent of fresh, living human flesh and were instantly thrown into a frenzy. Their murky, grey-white eyes locked onto Lin Fan as they shrieked and swarmed in from all directions, trying to fill the gap that the lamppost had just cleared.
Lin Fan straightened up, ignoring the nauseatingly sticky sensation under his feet. He reached out with his right hand and clenched his fist in the empty air beside him.
VWOOM!
The air distorted, and the greatsword materialized in an instant.
For Lin Fan, whose maximum Life Value was now approaching two thousand and whose physical attributes had long since surpassed human limits, this hundred-kilogram slab of solid iron no longer felt particularly heavy in his hands.
Facing this density of ordinary zombies, he didn’t even need to use the jet-like acceleration from his impact crystal to add force to his blows.
With a flick of his wrist, he swung the greatsword with both hands. It whined through the air as he brought it around in a wide, powerful arc—a simple, unadorned horizontal sweep!
WHOOSH—!
The greatsword’s thick blade swept past like a moving guillotine, trailing a vicious wind. There were no fancy techniques, only pure, brute force.
The upper bodies of the zombies at the very front were directly smashed to pieces by the blow. Shattered sternums and skulls were flung upward, and the kinetic energy that radiated outward was enough to knock back the zombies behind them!
