Chapter 353: Emergency Treatment Pod
Chapter 353: Chapter 353: Emergency Treatment Pod
"Of course. It’s a piece of cake," Lily Hart said breezily, tossing her head.
Roman Rowe chuckled goofily and praised, "Boss Hart, you’re just amazing!"
"You should set aside a dedicated Treatment Pod just for severe cases, like an emergency room," Lily Hart suggested. "From what I’ve seen, the healing is pretty fast for both minor and major injuries."
"I was just thinking the same thing," Roman Rowe said. "I’ve done the math. Anything over twenty Crystal Cores counts as a major injury, and takes five to ten minutes. Anything under twenty Crystal Cores takes less than five minutes."
Lily Hart glanced at him. ’Well now, he’s actually being meticulous. The kid’s grown up.’
"Hehe, I’m pretty good, right?" Roman Rowe fished for a compliment, his face full of a smugness that somehow wasn’t annoying.
"Yeah, yeah, you’re the best," Lily Hart said dismissively. "Now hurry up and set it up."
As she spoke, she nudged him with her elbow. Amidst a string of "Oh, oh, oh, ohs," Roman Rowe opened his Light Brain.
He configured one of the Treatment Pods to accept only patients with major injuries, while the other two would take those with minor ones.
This established a clear division of labor. All the seriously injured were now in one place, so no one could complain about anyone else. They just had to wait their turn according to the system’s triage.
There were no predictable peak hours for a thing like this clinic. Sometimes, a whole crowd of injured people would show up for no apparent reason.
Other times, half a day would pass without a single person. Roman Rowe suspected they were all coordinating it on purpose.
While the two of them were talking, the two patients from before—the one in the wheelchair and the one who had been on the verge of death on the floor—were both healed.
The people who had accompanied them immediately crowded around.
"Young Master, that leg of yours is an old injury! Even Healing Ability Users couldn’t do anything about it, but it’s actually been healed!"
"What are you saying? The Young Master is a blessed man; of course he was going to be healed!"
"Right, right, you’re right. I have a clumsy tongue. I was just so happy!"
"Young Master, what about the wheelchair?"
The man known as the Young Master said coldly, "Get rid of it."
All he felt now was a deep sense of comfort running through his entire body. His legs, which had been weak and sore, now felt like they could kick a bull to death.
’As for that stupid thing his subordinate said earlier... he was in a good mood, so he’d let it slide.’
He had injured his leg a few years ago and hadn’t been able to use it properly since. However, he had been diligent with physical therapy, which had prevented the muscles from atrophying too much.
When he heard that Boss Hart had opened a clinic and come to Phanfly Base, he knew he had to give it a try!
"Let’s go. Back to the base," he ordered coldly. With his injury healed, he could temporarily cast all his troubles aside.
Lily Hart wasn’t far from them and had overheard bits and pieces. She asked Roman Rowe, "’Young Master’? Who’s that? What century are we living in?"
Roman Rowe shook his head. "No idea."
A passing patient, clutching his arm, chimed in, "I think he’s the son of the Phanfly Base Commander. I heard before that he was always in a wheelchair and rarely made public appearances."
"Ohhh," Roman Rowe and Lily Hart said in unison, understanding now.
’No wonder he had bodyguards around him,’ she thought. ’His temper wasn’t too bad, though. It’s only natural to get angry when someone cuts in front of you, but at least he didn’t start a fight.’
After the group with the wheelchair left, the other group departed as well. Now that their injuries were healed, they all had smiles on their faces.
Lily Hart stood up and dusted herself off. "Alright, problem solved. I’m heading out."
"Bye-bye, Boss Hart!" Roman Rowe waved at her, watching her back as she left.
"Bye," Boss Hart waved casually over her shoulder without turning back, a gesture of response.
Lily Hart returned to the RV, and Roman Rowe followed right on her heels. "I completely lost track of time. It should be lunchtime by now."
"Yeah, I’m starving. What’s for lunch? I’ll lend a hand," Lily Hart said eagerly.
"Huh? You?" Roman Rowe said, a little incredulously.
It was indeed a rare sight to see Boss Hart offer to cook. In fact, everyone suspected she didn’t actually know how...
"Yeah, what’s wrong?" Lily Hart rolled up her sleeves and walked into the kitchen, but Roman Rowe hurriedly blocked her way.
"Hey, hey, hey, I can handle it myself! Why don’t you just go sit down and wait for the food?" Roman Rowe tried to push her out.
Lily Hart didn’t listen and slipped past him. "It’ll be faster if I help."
Roman Rowe didn’t dare let her. ’What if she blows up the kitchen?’ he worried. Just as the two were jostling back and forth, Seth came in.
"What are you two... doing?" Seth froze in place.
From his perspective, all he could see was Lily Hart’s back, half of Roman Rowe’s head, and his broad shoulders.
It looked as if Roman Rowe was holding Lily Hart in an embrace. Hearing his voice, they both turned to look at Seth at the same time.
Lily Hart took the opportunity to shove Roman Rowe aside and head for the kitchen, waving Seth over as she went. "Come on, time to cook."
Seth blankly walked forward, the question from a moment ago completely forgotten.
Seeing this, Roman Rowe rushed in after them, squeezed between the two, and snatched the inner pot of the rice cooker from Seth’s hands. "I’ll cook the rice."
"Oh." Seth handed over the pot without a care.
He then walked around him to Lily Hart, who was now chopping vegetables, and took the kitchen knife from her. "Let me do the cutting. I’m the best at shredding potatoes."
"Fine," Lily Hart said, putting down the knife and taking two steps back. Roman Rowe was cooking the rice, and Seth was shredding the potatoes.
’Fine,’ she thought. ’He steals your job, so you steal my job. In that case... I’ll just chop the ribs, I guess.’
She took a rack of ribs from the fridge, picked out a cleaver she liked the look of, and narrowed her eyes to take aim.
THWACK! She brought it down precisely on the ribs.
The loud noise drew the attention of both Roman Rowe and Seth, who turned in unison to look.
They saw Lily Hart, cleaver in hand, her brow furrowed and a fierce expression on her face as she chopped down with decisive force. Anyone who didn’t know better would have thought she was hacking at human bones.
Roman Rowe quickly put the inner pot into the rice cooker and pressed the start button.
Then he hurried over to Lily Hart’s side. "Whoa there, my little menace, just go sit down, please! I’ll do it, I’ll do it."
"..." Lily Hart remained silent, single-mindedly chopping the ribs.
Another "THWACK!" made Roman Rowe snatch his hand back in fright. "You—you—you! You’re going to lose a hand!"
He cradled his hand and muttered under his breath, "Even though it’s my own hand."
Roman Rowe and Seth just watched Lily Hart chop the ribs. Say what you will, her technique was actually quite precise, and the pieces were all a uniform size.
It was just that her expression and the force she was using were a little scary.
Seeing this, the two of them didn’t interfere further and went back to their own tasks, though they still stole glances at her from time to time.
It wasn’t that Lily Hart didn’t know how; she was just usually too lazy to do it.
When Frost Shaw arrived, he didn’t see Lily Hart in the living room. Curious, he peeked into the kitchen and saw her gutting a fish.
Her movements were clean and efficient. She wasn’t even wearing an apron, yet there wasn’t a single drop of blood on her white jacket.
After gutting the fish, Lily Hart rinsed it clean under the tap, tossed it onto a plate, and said, "We’ll red-braise this later."
With that, she meticulously washed her hands, dried them, and walked out of the kitchen.
She met Frost Shaw’s astonished gaze. Walking past him, she asked quizzically, "What are you looking at?"
Frost Shaw was slightly stunned. "You actually know how to gut a fish?"
It was mainly because this was a person who would lie down if she could sit, and sit if she could stand—a lazybones through and through. She didn’t seem like the type who would know how to do such things.
