Apocalypse: I'm Bound to a Mobile Lottery Shop
Chapter 460: Heater
Chapter 460: Chapter 460: Heater
Lily Hart looked at Frost Shaw’s slightly downcast expression, then at Roman Rowe’s somewhat angry face.
She decided to ignore it.
’If I comfort one, I’ll have to comfort the other. I can’t play favorites; I’m not that kind of person.’
So she pulled Frost Shaw down to sit with her. Well, now, even if she couldn’t be controlled by the men, she was certainly flanked by them.
She picked up a cream puff and fed it to each of them in turn.
Frost Shaw was perfectly content, his last trace of melancholy vanishing.
Roman Rowe, on the other hand, frowned, crossing his arms. He complained aggrievedly, "Lily Hart, why didn’t you feed me first!"
’Because it was easier with my right hand,’ Lily Hart thought.
She thought it, and so she said it aloud. "Because he was on my right. It was easier."
Roman Rowe fumed. He had lost out simply because of where he was sitting. But miraculously, he felt a little better.
At least Lily Hart hadn’t said it was because Frost Shaw was more important and he wasn’t.
There was still an hour until six o’clock. Frost Shaw and Roman Rowe were secretly competing with each other.
Lily Hart, sitting between them, scrolled through her Light Brain. Every so often, a Base Commander would add her as a contact.
They wanted to procure supplies from her.
She planned to ship everything out in one go after dinner. She had no idea when this extreme cold disaster would end.
Central Command’s official website had also posted the casualty statistics from the past few days.
Thanks to Lily Hart’s supplies, the casualties from this extreme cold disaster were relatively low.
But hundreds had still frozen to death, and thousands had suffered from frostbite. They were all being brought to the clinic for treatment.
Elder Shaw had sighed with emotion more than once, thankful for Lily Hart.
If not for Lily Hart, who knew how many would have died. It was as if everything had fallen perfectly into place.
She had appeared and saved them all.
Logan Holland was in charge of bringing the injured for treatment. He also came by to freeload dinner from Lily Hart.
He was wearing thermal clothing from the factory, but his two exposed hands were still covered in frostbite.
They were swollen and red.
Lily Hart couldn’t bear to look. She bought a hundred tubes of frostbite cream from the mall.
"Here, take these back and use them. But remember to pay up, okay?" Lily Hart was clear about separating business from personal matters.
Logan Holland’s eyes lit up. He hastily took them, stored them all in his space, and immediately opened a tube, squeezing a little into his palm.
He rubbed his hands together, warming the frostbite cream and carefully applying it to every spot.
Frostbite makes you itch and can cause the skin to break down, but after applying the cream, Logan Holland felt much better.
He breathed a sigh of relief. He knew Lily Hart could pull anything out of thin air.
He didn’t stand on ceremony. "Alright, put it on the tab. We’ll settle up all at once later."
Lily Hart nodded noncommittally. "Got it. Your Central Command already owes me hundreds of thousands of points. You can pay me back slowly~"
Logan Holland broke out in a sweat. It wasn’t that he wanted to be in debt, but the expenses from the extreme cold disaster had been massive.
The Crystal Cores they had painstakingly saved up were completely spent.
Now, their only option was to buy on credit from Boss Hart.
Besides, with the recent cold, it was impossible to send superpower users out on missions. That would be a death sentence.
Thinking about it, Logan Holland felt completely strapped for cash. But thankfully, Lily Hart was easy to talk to. Perhaps it was because of their trust and friendship.
She didn’t hesitate to provide the supplies first, allowing them to pay back the points slowly over time.
Seeing him sigh, Lily Hart comforted him, "Don’t worry, you’re not the only base in debt. Almost all of them are. Most only paid a deposit."
Logan Holland paused, feeling even more strapped for cash.
Although Lily Hart was human, he always felt a certain distance between her and everyone else.
It was like humanity was one faction, the zombies were another, and Lily Hart was a faction of her own.
Her relationship with the Zombie King was excellent, and she also got along well with the Base Commanders of the major bases.
You couldn’t really call her neutral; she operated purely based on points.
If the zombies offered points, he believed they could enjoy the same treatment.
Logan Holland was very self-aware.
Since the frostbitten were queuing up for treatment at the clinic, he shamelessly stayed for dinner.
While eating, Logan Holland suddenly grew melancholic. "I wonder when we’ll ever get through this."
Lily Hart didn’t know either, so she chose to ask her system.
’Do you know, System?’
"I do not know, Host~"
’Then help me check the weather for the next fifteen days.’
The system pulled up the weather for the next fifteen days and displayed it in her mind. "Here you go."
The temperature was as low as ever... Lily Hart was speechless. She didn’t want to look anymore.
Lily Hart bought a thousand of the non-electric heaters she had selected today.
This heater didn’t need electricity; you just had to flip a switch.
And it was completely unaffected by the outside temperature, external factors, or the surrounding environment.
It was its own thing. As long as it wasn’t turned off, it would run forever.
And its effective range was quite wide. As long as you were in the same room, you could enjoy the warmth.
This was a heater that Lily Hart had spent a whole day carefully selecting. It only cost one Crystal Core per day.
She set aside fifty units for Logan Holland. "Here, take these back. Gather everyone in one room, and nobody will be cold anymore."
Logan Holland’s eyes lit up. "Is it an air conditioner?"
"Something like that. It’s a heater," Lily Hart said. "As long as you’re in the same room, it’ll work. You can crack a window for ventilation."
"Great, great, I’ll go set them up for everyone right away." Logan Holland accepted them gleefully.
’This is fantastic! Everyone’s saved again!’
Although they had previously procured cold-weather supplies from Lily Hart, there were simply too many people and not enough clothes.
It was impossible to distribute them to everyone.
They could only prioritize giving them to those in greatest need.
But with these heaters, they could protect many more people.
Central Command happened to have many large, open-plan floors, so they could gather people there.
Even if they didn’t, they could just knock down walls to create a massive open floor.
He just hoped it could accommodate more people.
With these new heaters, Logan Holland found that even the delicious feast in front of him had lost its appeal. He just wanted to go back immediately.
But then he thought, ’I should eat more. I won’t get to eat food this delicious and hot when I get back.’
With that in mind, Logan Holland immediately shoveled a large mouthful of rice into his mouth.
Lily Hart watched his expression change several times. First, it was surprise and shock.
After the shock came deep thought, as if he were contemplating some major life decision.
After his contemplation, he seemed to make up his mind and immediately started shoveling down his food, taking huge mouthfuls.
He even snatched the last chicken wing.
Lily Hart was speechless. She had to settle for the stir-fried eggs with chili. It was pretty tasty, she had to admit.
After the meal, Logan Holland patted his stomach, satisfied, and hurried off to the clinic.
Lily Hart, in turn, headed to the courier station to ship out the supplies for the Base Commanders who had placed orders.
After a flurry of activity shipping out the goods, Lily Hart dragged her exhausted body back to the lottery shop.
She saw another man in the RV. This time, it was Owen Warren.
Lily Hart stopped in her tracks as soon as she boarded, not wanting to take another step. ’Did these guys make an appointment? One per day?’
Diana Sharp and Tina Jacobs had already gone back to the convenience store, leaving Owen Warren alone on the first floor of the RV.
