Chapter 467: Chapter 467: Fruit Store?

"I don’t know either. Ever since I bumped heads with Roman Rowe, I’ve suddenly had an appetite." Lily Hart found it strange, too. She stood up to get herself some rice, filling another heaping bowl.

Roman Rowe scratched his head. "Don’t tell me my appetite rubbed off on you?"

Lily Hart rolled her eyes at him. "That’s just terrible news..."

"What’s wrong with eating a little more? Having a good appetite is a blessing, you know," Roman Rowe muttered, getting himself another bowl of rice. The two of them happily began to eat.

Lily Hart nodded in deep agreement. Not only was a good appetite a blessing, but in a post-apocalyptic world, just having food to eat was an immense blessing!

By the end of the meal, Lily Hart had eaten three bowls of rice and still felt like she could eat more, but Frost Shaw took her bowl away. "Don’t eat too much at once. It’s bad for your stomach."

Lily Hart had no choice but to reluctantly release the bowl. "Fine, I’ll just eat more tonight then."

Roman Rowe glared at Frost Shaw. ’Boss Hart’s appetite is finally good for once, and he won’t let her eat. What a tyrant!’

Frost Shaw ignored his glare. When everyone finished eating and started clearing the dishes on their own, Roman Rowe joined in, sidling up to him to whisper.

"Why didn’t you let Boss Hart keep eating?" Roman Rowe complained.

Frost Shaw shot him a sidelong glance. "Being overstuffed is painful."

Roman Rowe started muttering again. Not bothering to respond, Frost Shaw finished cleaning up the dishes and dragged him out of the RV.

The others gradually returned to their shops. The temperature was starting to rise, and many survivors in Central Command were taking advantage of the sunshine to come out and enjoy themselves.

They were all still wearing factory-made thermal clothes and shoes. Dressed like that, they didn’t feel the cold at all.

Stan Sterling was about to head back to the vegetable patch when the System’s voice chimed in just in time: [Host, let me pull some strings for you.]

’What?’ Lily Hart wondered.

[Have Stan Sterling scratch one now,] the System said.

’Why?’ Lily Hart asked.

’Although I don’t get it, the System must have its reasons. Could it be that Stan Sterling’s luck has finally turned?’

She quickly stood up and grabbed Stan Sterling’s arm. "Come on, pick a scratch-off ticket. Scratch it right now."

Stan Sterling looked completely baffled but decided to listen to her. He casually picked a ticket from the most expensive batch and immediately began scratching.

Lily Hart leaned in to watch, curious to see what he would win. Unfortunately, the ticket was a dud. They exchanged a baffled look.

"No way. Try another one!" Lily Hart said.

She had complete faith in the System and was sure it wouldn’t trick her.

Stan Sterling obediently did as he was told, picking another ticket and starting to scratch.

This one was also a dud. Lily Hart couldn’t help but question the System. ’What’s going on, buddy? Are you messing with us?’

The System patiently reassured her. [This is only the second one. What’s the rush? Scratch a few more!]

Lily Hart reluctantly accepted this reasoning. ’The System wouldn’t make Stan Sterling play for no reason. It must have noticed something or know something.’

She then turned to reassure Stan Sterling. "It’s fine. Scratch a few more. You’re bound to win something!"

After all, no pain, no gain.

Stan Sterling was a little baffled, but he still chose to trust Lily Hart. "Okay."

"How about this one? It looks lucky!" Lily Hart picked one out for him, and Stan Sterling chose two more himself.

To their surprise, the winning ticket was the one Lily Hart had picked.

They exchanged a look of delighted surprise and rushed to redeem the prize. The Lucky Cat spat out a small card. Stan Sterling picked it up and read: Fruit Shop!

’So this was why Boss Hart was so insistent on me playing the scratch-offs?’
