Chapter 466: Can’t Leave
Chapter 466: Chapter 466: Can’t Leave
The distress and panic on his face were plain to see. He pulled her around to inspect her from every angle, only relaxing after confirming she had no visible wounds and he couldn’t smell any blood.
Lily Hart helplessly let him fuss over her. Not far away, Leo Colby’s eyes were also scanning her, and he quietly breathed a sigh of relief when he saw she was largely unharmed.
"So, where were you hurt?" Owen Warren asked.
Lily Hart pointed to the right side of her forehead, but it had already healed completely, leaving no trace of the injury.
Owen Warren leaned in for a closer look. He really couldn’t find any sign of an injury and even wanted to reach out and touch the spot.
But his getting so close provoked the other three.
All at once, they reached out in unison and yanked Owen Warren back.
Owen Warren: "What the hell? Are you guys nuts?"
The other three ignored him. They turned on their heels and marched into the kitchen in unison. Roman Rowe even let out a cold snort, rolling his eyes at him.
Owen Warren got no response, and he was starting to get the picture. But he couldn’t be bothered with them. He snorted coldly as well, propped a hand on the back of the sofa, and vaulted over it.
It was a smooth sequence of movements, and he plopped right down onto the sofa.
Lily Hart shrugged, unwilling to humor the petty mind games these guys were playing.
She sat down on the sofa as well to wait for dinner. She hadn’t been very hungry before, but after bumping heads with Roman Rowe and getting that little lump, she suddenly felt famished.
The three men were cooking up a storm in the kitchen, while Owen Warren and Lily Hart sat in silence in the living room.
A strange atmosphere began to spread between them. Owen Warren kept stealing glances at Lily Hart. Seeing her completely absorbed in her Light Brain, he quietly scooted closer.
Before he knew it, he was right beside Lily Hart.
Her expression was serious, and Owen Warren didn’t quite dare to mess with her. He reached out and poked the side of her thigh. Lily Hart gave him a sidelong glance.
"Need something?" she asked, her voice and expression cold.
When Owen Warren heard that, his courage returned. He let out a flirtatious "Ooh," drawing out the sound with a winding flourish.
Lily Hart couldn’t hold it in and burst out laughing. "What is with you today, Owen Warren?"
"Nothing much. Just wanted to chat and shoot the breeze. Is that not allowed? I take my eyes off you for one morning and you get hurt. See? I told you you can’t live without me," Owen Warren said smugly.
Lily Hart didn’t know where he got his confidence, but he somehow managed to say it without sounding sleazy. In fact, it was kind of cute.
She humored him with a placating tone. "Yes, yes, you’re right. I can’t possibly live without you. There, happy?"
The corners of Owen Warren’s mouth lifted so high they were practically in the clouds. But ever the proud peacock, he just humphed twice in agreement, too stubborn to admit his delight.
His hand snuck over again, quietly covering hers as it rested on the sofa. Soft, small, and plump. That was his impression.
She was soft all over.
Just from touching her hand, Owen Warren’s imagination was already running wild.
His fantasy was cut short when Lily Hart shook his hand off. "Hey, hey, hey! What do you think you’re doing? We’re in broad daylight here, can’t you be a little more civilized?"
Lily Hart pretended to scold him, but her eyes were filled with mirth.
Not one to back down, Owen Warren grabbed her hand again. "I’m a zombie," he said, as if it were the most reasonable thing in the world. "What do I need to be civilized for? Honestly!" He then squeezed her hand even tighter.
Lily Hart tried to shake her hand free a few times, but failed, so she just let him be.
Soon, lunch was ready. The three men brought the dishes out one by one. Seth, Stan Sterling, and Cynthia Whittaker had also arrived; it wasn’t their turn to cook today.
This time, when Lily Hart went to pull her hand away, it came free easily. Owen Warren knew when to quit.
Everyone took their seats. Lily Hart immediately wolfed down a bowl of white rice. Frost Shaw was confused. "I thought you said you weren’t hungry?"
