Apocalypse: I'm Bound to a Mobile Lottery Shop
Chapter 470: Flipping a Card?
Chapter 470: Chapter 470: Flipping a Card?
The fruit on the shelves was quickly snatched up by customers. The two of them worked together to see the last wave of them out.
When the last customer walked out the door, both of them let out a sigh of relief in unison.
Lily Hart suggested, "You should really get an automated checkout. This is too exhausting otherwise."
Stan Sterling wholeheartedly agreed. Running the register was a novelty, but doing it long-term would be exhausting.
Besides, he still had his vegetable garden to tend to.
The two left the fruit shop. Stan Sterling casually closed the door and glanced back. The giant apple-shaped building looked oddly conspicuous.
Inside the RV, the others had already arrived and were just waiting for Lily Hart and Stan Sterling.
The moment he saw them, Roman Rowe couldn’t wait to ask, "What’s that giant apple? A new shop?"
Lily Hart had been busy all afternoon. Even though Stan Sterling had done most of the work, she was so hungry her stomach felt like it was stuck to her spine. "Yeeep... it’s a fwuit shop..."
Her playful tone made everyone laugh.
The two sat down, and Roman Rowe asked curiously, "Is it Stan Sterling’s?"
Stan Sterling, who was sitting opposite them, nodded. "That’s right, it’s mine." A hint of bashful pride and a desire to show off unintentionally slipped out.
Roman Rowe wriggled in his chair gleefully. "So we can have all the fruit we want from now on!"
This was an unwritten rule among the shop owners. As long as you were one of Boss Hart’s employees, you got an employee discount at any of the other shops.
It could be as low as ten percent of the original price, and if you were on good terms with the owner, you might even get it for free.
Stan Sterling agreed with a smile.
Lily Hart shot Roman Rowe a look. "As if you were ever short on fruit before."
There may not have been a fruit shop before, but Stan Sterling often brought them fruit. It’s not like any of them ever went without.
"Nyah nyah nyah~" Roman Rowe, ignoring her jab, made a face at her. Lily Hart, not wanting to deal with him, stuffed a fried chicken leg into his mouth.
The smallest one, at that.
After dinner, Stan Sterling went to the delivery station to find Sylvia Jarvis and propose joining the food delivery platform.
Sylvia Jarvis gladly accepted. There were still too few vendors on the platform: the boba shop, the cake shop, the fried chicken cutlet place, and the hot pot restaurant.
Those were the initial four. Afterward, she had approached Frost Shaw at the convenience store, but he had turned her down.
His reason was that he already had an online supermarket.
An online supermarket was essentially the same as a delivery platform; customers selected items online, paid, and had them delivered to their door.
He felt one online channel was enough and that having another would be redundant.
Sylvia Jarvis understood and wasn’t the least bit discouraged. She then turned her attention to the night market vendors, inviting them to join the platform.
Some who could manage the extra work agreed, while those who were too busy declined.
But even with them, the platform had just barely reached ten vendors...
So, she was thrilled that Stan Sterling had taken the initiative to come to her!
After a good chat, the two happily struck a deal.
All fruit available in the shop would be listed on the delivery platform, and the daily "flash sale" for fruit would be canceled.
The flash sales were too dependent on internet and reaction speeds, whereas the delivery platform allowed everyone a chance to buy.
After finalizing the deal, a satisfied Stan Sterling headed to his vegetable garden to check on the treasures that would make him a fortune.
At the lottery shop, business was over for the day.
Diana Sharp and Tina Jacobs skillfully put away the scratch-off tickets, then tidied up the RV as well.
They pushed the chairs under the table and neatly arranged the throw pillows and blankets on the sofa.
Once they had finished, the two left hand in hand.
Lily Hart was sprawled on the sofa, spacing out as she pondered a very important matter.
She was full from dinner, and her energy had returned.
’A full belly and warm clothes lead to lustful thoughts,’ she mused. ’So, whose token should I flip tonight?’
’After thinking it over, I’ll go with Frost Shaw. The others haven’t progressed to that stage yet.’
’I have to take it slow. Can’t be rushed.’
She took a shower, changed into her pajamas, and lay down on her bed before sending Frost Shaw a message.
"Come quick."
Just those two simple words were enough to get Frost Shaw hooked, line, and sinker.
He had also just finished showering and was about to start cultivating in his room when he received Lily Hart’s message.
’Calling me over this late... it probably isn’t for anything innocent.’
In his excitement, Frost Shaw leaped right off the bay window seat, hastily slipped on his slippers, and prepared to head out.
He paused at the door, looking down at the rather conservative, long-sleeved pajamas he was wearing.
After a moment of hesitation, he went back and changed into a black sleeveless shirt. He remembered Lily liked them.
He threw on a jacket before heading out, only for the door to the room across from his to open from the inside.
Roman Rowe looked at him, and he looked back at Roman Rowe. Their eyes met inexplicably.
"Where are you off to this late at night?" Roman Rowe asked, his eyes on Frost’s jacket.
Frost Shaw pulled his door shut. "None of your business." He said, turning to leave.
Roman Rowe grabbed him. "Are you going to see Lily Hart?"
Frost Shaw shook his hand off. An unnatural expression flickered across his face as he shook his head. "No."
The tug-of-war between them pulled his jacket open on one side, revealing the black sleeveless shirt underneath.
Roman Rowe’s eyes widened in shock. "And you still say no? Look at what you’re wearing!"
"I have something to do," Frost Shaw said helplessly, pulling his jacket closed.
Roman Rowe crossed his arms. "Fine, fine, fine. Go on, then. Go."
’My turn will come one day.’
Roman Rowe consoled himself, pretending to be unbothered as he went to hang laundry on the balcony. In reality, he was dying of jealousy.
’Waaah, why isn’t it my turn yet? I want Boss Hart to dote on me too...’
Seeing this, Frost Shaw breathed a sigh of relief. It was late and no one was around. He quickly made his way to the lottery shop.
The first floor was dark, but a light was on upstairs, as if guiding him.
Like a thief in the night, he tiptoed up to the second floor.
The moment he reached the second floor, he saw Lily Hart lying on her side on the bed, and his heart immediately started to pound.
His Adam’s apple bobbed as he shuffled over, step by step. Hearing the noise, Lily Hart rolled over.
She propped her head up with one hand, her other resting on her body, index finger tapping against her thigh.
In that pose, she looked just like a little siren.
Frost Shaw moved to the edge of the bed and quickly took off his jacket. Lily Hart’s eyes lit up.
She looked him up and down. A black sleeveless shirt wasn’t a look everyone could pull off, she had to admit, but it looked exceptionally good on Frost Shaw.
His exposed arms were powerful, the lines of his muscles smooth and well-defined.
Frost Shaw bent down and pressed a kiss to her lips. The shirt had a wide collar.
Lily Hart got a good look at the scenery underneath. She placed a hand on his arm, her fingers tracing a path inward.
Her touch was like a spark, wandering and igniting fires wherever it went. Frost Shaw couldn’t hold back any longer and pounced on her.
...
The next day, Lily Hart woke up in Frost Shaw’s arms. She looked at the blanket, most of which she had hogged for herself.
He, on the other hand, was only covered by a tiny corner of it, but the most crucial part—his belly button—was covered.
Lily Hart was very satisfied. As long as his navel was covered, everything else was a minor issue.
She snuggled deeper into Frost Shaw’s embrace, searching for a comfortable position.
She planned to go back to sleep for a bit. Last night had been... utterly exhausting.
