Chapter 482: Chapter 482: Only I Can See

Central Command was already on high alert. Having discovered the anomaly ahead of time, they couldn’t afford to be caught off guard as they had been during the extreme cold disaster.

Meanwhile, the "Plant Death" solution was being sprayed liberally outside Central Command’s perimeter walls in the hope that it would have some effect.

But the unexpected often arrives without warning. Just as Lily Hart finished her breakfast...

Out of the corner of her eye, she glimpsed the dilapidated buildings she had photographed that morning. Suddenly, countless vines erupted, weaving together into what looked like a green ocean.

It billowed and surged, a tidal wave threatening to swallow the RV whole.

The water glass in Lily Hart’s hand fell to the floor, shattering into countless shards.

Luckily, it only contained warm water; otherwise, she would have surely been scalded.

Startled, Frost Shaw rushed forward, grabbed her chair, and began pulling it backward, telling her, "Lift your feet."

Lily Hart instinctively did as she was told, lifting her feet. It felt just like being a child, pulled along in a bucket by a grown-up. In no time, she was far from the small, messy area.

After moving Lily Hart, Frost Shaw and Roman Rowe immediately began to clean up.

Once they had cleaned up, Frost Shaw asked Lily Hart, "What happened just now? Did you get scared?"

Lily Hart looked even more astonished than him. "You didn’t see it? All those mutant plants, that terrifying scene... It looked like it was about to swallow the RV."

Frost Shaw and Roman Rowe exchanged a look. "Didn’t see what? Where?"

Lily Hart’s feet slowly touched the floor, a massive question mark hanging over her head. "Huh? You didn’t see it?"

She didn’t jump to any conclusions. Instead, she had the system pull up the surveillance footage facing the dilapidated buildings. The other two saw this and immediately leaned in for a closer look.

Just as the three of them were about to watch, Leo Colby came over and asked curiously, "What are you guys watching?"

Without looking up, Lily Hart waved him over. "Come on, watch with us."

Leo Colby obediently walked over. ’Oh, they’re just watching the security feed.’

The screen showed the dilapidated buildings. Some had crumbling facades, while others had collapsed almost entirely. In short, none of them were in good condition.

Lily Hart dragged the progress bar, rewinding the footage to a point just before her glass had dropped. Four pairs of eyes were glued to the Light Brain.

But nothing happened. The dilapidated buildings remained just as they were.

When it was over, three pairs of eyes turned in unison to Lily Hart, asking simultaneously, "And then?"

Lily Hart was utterly baffled. ’I couldn’t have seen wrong, could I? Am I hallucinating because I haven’t had meat in a few days?’

’That can’t be it.’

She had no choice but to ask the system. ’It would never lie to me, and it’s incapable of making a mistake.’

[I didn’t see anything.]

Great. Those four simple words made Lily Hart feel like the sky was falling.

She was the only one who had seen it. ’Even with a hundred mouths, I’d never be able to explain this.’

Her concentration wavered for a moment, and then she saw the green ocean again. It was even more turbulent than before, pulsing with wave after wave of energy.

Lily Hart’s heart began to race. She felt an oppressive sense of panic, as if something deep within her was awakening.

She pressed a hand to her chest, feeling her heart pound more and more forcefully. ’I don’t understand.’

She blinked, and the green ocean of countless vines disappeared. Panicked, she grabbed Frost Shaw, who was standing nearest, her hand locking onto his wrist.

"Did you see it that time? So many branches and vines, like an ocean, rushing over," Lily Hart stammered.

The unease in her heart intensified, but she couldn’t find its source. All she knew was that it was definitely connected to those plants.

The three men still hadn’t seen anything, but that didn’t stop them from trusting Lily Hart unconditionally.

"Something is wrong," Roman Rowe finally managed to say after a long pause.

"No kidding!" Lily Hart shot him a glare. "I just have this feeling that those plants are going to attack Central Command."

It sounded absurd, but coming from Boss Hart, it was somehow perfectly logical.

No one knew why, but she just possessed that kind of convincing authority.

Frost Shaw had already picked up his Light Brain to call Elder Shaw.

He urged him to reinforce the perimeter wall’s defenses to guard against a surprise plant attack and, if necessary, to station more superpower users at the main gate.

His voice was grave and his logic was clear. As soon as they hung up, Elder Shaw acted on the advice.

He immediately dispatched 1,500 soldiers from his Powers Corps to the perimeter wall and sent an additional 200 superpower users to the main gate.

His most elite army consisted of five thousand soldiers, two thousand of whom were superpower users.

Among those two thousand, five hundred were Fifth Rank or higher superpower users. Elder Shaw had faith in their abilities.

They quickly moved into position.

Lily Hart sat in her chair, deep in thought, and suddenly realized that the green ocean had been in a different place each of the two times she’d seen it.

The first time, it had been among the dilapidated buildings. The second time, it seemed to have moved a good distance forward, already past the ruined structures. ’They really are advancing, little by little.’

’Could Central Command be their destination?’

’Is it that with the rising temperatures, all the plants and animals are waking up?’

Frost Shaw comforted her, "Don’t worry, it will be all right. If Elder Shaw’s forces can’t hold them off, we’ll still be here."

Lily Hart thought for a moment. "How about we send a few people to check on the situation? That way, if something happens, we can provide immediate assistance."

"Okay," the three men agreed.

Since they weren’t going to open for business today anyway, Lily Hart summoned all the shop managers and explained the situation.

The several managers who had come from Central Command all clamored to help.

The other managers also declared that if Boss Hart asked, they would go through hell and high water for her.

Lily Hart was somewhat moved, but this was no time to get sentimental.

She chose the few managers from Central Command, then also picked Frost Shaw, Roman Rowe, Leo Colby, Seth, Cynthia Whittaker, and Stan Sterling.

Owen Warren was left out. After all, he was a zombie, and he had the self-awareness to stay quiet as a mouse.

A total of ten people would go to Central Command to help.

Though few in number, High-level Superpower Users could make a huge difference in battle.

All ten of them stuffed their spatial inventories with weapons, medicine, food, and other supplies, just in case.

Frost Shaw and Leo Colby led the team to Central Command, while Lily Hart and the others watched them depart.

They couldn’t help but pray for their safe return.

Since she wasn’t opening for business, Lily Hart decided to consolidate all her shops in one place.

She brought them all within the RV’s hundred-meter safety zone to ensure they were completely secure.

Just as she finished moving the shops, Frost Shaw and the team reached a small side gate at Central Command.

They were in the middle of talking to the Guardian Corps.

But at that exact moment, Lily Hart saw the green ocean again. It was now extremely close to the perimeter wall.

Less than ten meters away.

Each rise and fall was like a surging ocean wave, its crests looming even higher than the wall itself.

It blotted out the sky.

In an instant, Lily Hart could no longer even see the shadow of the wall; it was completely hidden by a dense curtain of vines.

Lily Hart was frantic. She was just about to summon the system and ask for one of its clever tricks...

A deep HUM resonated, and Lily Hart’s mind instantly cleared.

She thought she could hear Leo Colby talking with the Guardian Corps, but the sound was faint and drifting, impossible to grasp.
