Apocalypse: Master of Soul Beasts
Chapter 1268 - 221: The Only Way Out
The battle erupted in an instant!
Li Quan’an did not take direct action, nor did his Cannibal subordinates intervene in this battle. They merely waited quietly on the outskirts of the battlefield, waiting for the result... or the perfect moment for a decisive strike.
This decision was not made blindly. As the embodiment of the group’s will, Spirit indeed possessed the power to crush Carmille!
The sky was filled with vines that seemed to dance wildly like countless giant snakes. They lashed like whips at the painting creatures summoned by Carmille, turning them into a mess of paint on the ground. Even the scroll depicting Spirit, which Carmille painted, was fundamentally different from the True Spirit.
In a direct confrontation, Spirit’s mere existence was enough. Li Quan’an and others were only wary of Spirit developing other thoughts.
After all, emotions can be unpredictably volatile...
However, the worst-case scenario did not occur—in communication between the Demigod and Spirit, Spirit decisively abandoned her dear friend and turned to embrace Earth Mother. Seeing her decisive action and killing intent, Li Quan’an believed there would be no further changes... Thinking of this, Li Quan’an even felt like laughing.
These mutant creatures, whether or not their brains are mutated, are no different than puppets. They regard the thoughts and actions of Earth’s will as divine, utterly ignoring any mistakes by Earth’s will.
Without self-thinking and will, how are they different from puppets?
Just then, Li Quan’an saw Carmille seize the opening during Spirit’s attack to draw out a communication device, attempting to call for help from the outside... To which, Li Quan’an just sneered disdainfully.
Why not ambush Carmille on her return? Simply because there wasn’t enough time, not enough manpower, and fear of potential defense gaps and negligence?
But now the setup is complete, and Li Quan’an firmly believes this ambush has no defensive gaps.
Carmille is doomed!
Yet an unexpected change happened in the next second.
Suddenly, an alert message came from the earphones from the outer alert force.
"My lord, two mutant beasts are rushing in from outside—a gorilla and a horse... that gorilla... damn..."
The angry curse from a subordinate had just sounded when a thunderous crash came through the earphones. Li Quan’an felt a sudden, strong vibration underfoot, seemingly like a magnitude 10 earthquake had erupted instantly. Li Quan’an immediately turned around, seeing the defense barrier intended to prevent Carmille from sending communications trembling rapidly several times. Accompanied by a sudden descent of Thunder, the barrier shattered instantly!
"Wow~~~ Yeah, not bad..."
Without any shock or astonishment, Li Quan’an just lightly pursed his lips, drew a battle saber from behind, and slowly approached Carmille.
The barrier shattered, but as long as Carmille couldn’t free her hands, she couldn’t send out any messages—the so-called plan must always face some unexpected circumstances...
As for those divine beast species outside, which should have been with Carmille all along...
Who knows if they’ve returned: are they here to die, or to die, or to die...
...
The abrupt roar and familiar growl ignited a glimmer of hope in Carmille’s desperate heart.
At least, her closest companions hadn’t abandoned her...
She thought to herself, sensing the barrier overhead had already collapsed, Carmille once again took out a communicator, attempting to dial a long-lost number.
Wen Yu...
Perhaps only Wen Yu had the ability to return from the tiered battle ground at such a time to rescue her.
As for whether Wen Yu could answer the call, if Wen Yu was on Earth, or if Wen Yu was occupied with urgent matters... Carmille was purely clutching at straws.
Carmille’s thought was correct—if she reached Wen Yu, Wen Yu could dispatch any soul pet to quickly arrive in Spain, thereby resolving Carmille’s predicament.
But the hard part was dialing the number...
Wen Yu’s number was deeply buried in Carmille’s memory, but just as she pressed one digit, a knife blade suddenly attacked from the side.
The blade appeared inconspicuous, its length less than a meter, yet the chilling killing intent it unleashed left Carmille momentarily stunned, tasting the sudden waft of death and seemingly losing the will to fight entirely.
Until the blade sliced through Spirit’s vine branches, cut through the painting creatures Carmille arranged around, and pierced the defense skills Carmille had unleashed, closing in on Carmille’s body.
In the instant the blade touched her, Carmille finally reacted. She fiercely twisted her waist, turning her body to the side, yet still too late by half. The blade grazed across Carmille’s chest, bringing a burst of blood!
"Ahhhh!!!"
A piercing female voice sounded, and Carmille’s chest was instantaneously cleaved with the blade, and her beautiful visage was shredded by the sharp blade, leaving behind only a blur of flesh and golden fragments of hair on her face.
A cruel slice! Yet Li Quan’an had no intention of pitying the fair maiden; he merely watched with interest as Carmille’s body spasmed and hit the ground, while his battle saber once again brewed a blade light.
Two strikes! A Sequence-class! Although assisted by Spirit, Li Quan’an’s prowess was now not to be underestimated by anyone!
He lifted the battle saber, ready to deliver the final blow to the woman lying on the ground, but distant, sudden roars interrupted his imminent offensive.
The blade light shifted direction instantly, and Li Quan’an coldly watched the increasingly close, massive dark shadow. With a flash of knife light, the silver glow pierced through the night sky, colliding head-on with the grotesque beast charging at him.
"Zzz~~~"
The sound of a blade slicing through leather rang out, followed by a massive, dozens of meters-long robust arm soaring into the sky, blood spraying like rain, quickly dyeing the entire battlefield red. Yet the gorilla that braved this strike didn’t retreat a bit, disregarding the arm that was severed and the multitude of Cannibals tearing into its flesh from behind, frenziedly charging at Li Quan’an. The massive body soared, pinning Li Quan’an under it like a mountain!
"Boom!"
Heavy punches followed in succession, the gorilla crazily swinging its single arm, powerfully pounding on Li Quan’an’s body, but it was futile.
Endless blade lights surrounded Li Quan’an, not only firmly repelling the gorilla’s attack but also autonomously launching counterattacks. With each heavy punch from the gorilla striking the blade light, not only failing to harm Li Quan’an but scattering its blood and shattering its bones instead.
The gorilla’s robust arm visibly shortened, as though its flesh was mercilessly sheared off by a steel saber, until the gorilla let out another wild roar, driving half a severed bone harshly towards Li Quan’an. Yet welcoming it was nothing but an eternal end.
"Zzz~~"
The piercing blade light stabbed into the gorilla’s belly first.
