Apocalypse: Master of Soul Beasts
Chapter 1267 - 220: Turning Against Each Other
Family, love... these are precious, but even precious things have a clear price in some people’s eyes!
Yanjing’s overthrow plan, planned by the Demigod for so long, was now on the verge of execution. This time, the Demigod couldn’t afford any mistakes. His sinister thoughts made him suspect Carmille would betray him and leak information, so he decided to eradicate the threat.
As for women? As for children? He even wanted to kill his own father, so what does a woman he’s barely getting by with and a child still at the sperm and egg unification stage count for?
The communicator naturally provided feedback.
"Guarantee to complete the task!"
Only then did the Demigod put down the communicator and exhale a long breath.
This decision once delivered... the Demigod instantly felt much better...
...
The trick Tang N played turned into reality — he couldn’t care less about what Carmille thought because he understood that given the Demigod’s character and the plan’s importance, there was a high probability he would clear away all outsiders who shouldn’t know about this plan, including his future wife and child.
The saying "A tiger does not eat its own cubs" doesn’t apply to the Demigod...
The origin was simply Tang N wanting to make a joke and have some fun, but the resulting effect was definitely not so pleasant.
...
The sky was blue, without the many parasites from Earth. Earth’s environment was indeed much more beautiful than before, especially within Spirit. Dense trees, chirping birds, and fragrant flowers offered a stunning scene. When Carmille returned to Spirit’s side, she instantly felt much more relieved.
"Eh? Why are you back? I thought you had forgotten this old friend of mine."
The leaves rustled and made a sound. Hearing this, Carmille forced out a smile.
"Let’s not talk about it, some unpleasant things happened. I want to stay by your side for a couple of days, why? You won’t drive this old friend away, will you?"
After a joke between friends, Spirit actively opened a passage for Carmille; at the end of the passage was the small wooden cabin Carmille once lived in.
The cabin was neatly arranged. After Carmille entered, she put down her luggage, thinking about the unpleasant events that had just occurred, and couldn’t help but sigh lightly.
"Forget it, don’t think about it... a good sleep will make tomorrow better! Go, girl!"
Carmille clenched her right fist to cheer herself on, then calmed her mood. Her eyelids gradually grew heavy, and not long after, she was already fast asleep.
Outside, the rustling leaves seemed to play a series of lullabies until after Carmille fell asleep. Spirit’s manifestation suddenly appeared outside the window, watching the sleeping Carmille with a complicated gleam in her eye.
Until the night grew.
...
The moon was high, tonight’s moonlight was very bright. Moonlight sprinkled down, casting a dappled pattern in the woods.
Outside the forest, hundreds of mysterious people wearing black robes moved hastily, quickly surrounding the entire forest. Along with the signal in their earpieces, they extracted neat and orderly mysterious devices from their space rings. As the devices activated, a pale blue light curtain instantly enveloped the sky above the forest.
"Communication interference device has started."
A voice emanated from the earpiece. The leader removed the hood, revealing a pale bloodless face.
"Operation begins!"
With the four words expressed, these black-robed men immediately rushed into the woods like the wind!
In the cabin, Carmille was still asleep. Just then, outside the tree house, the trees suddenly surged, numerous branches like snakes stealthily crawled out and wrapped around the tree house. Spirit’s figure appeared once more outside the tree house. She watched the sleeping Carmille inside; a resolute gleam flashed in her eyes.
"Lord Demigod’s command, Earth’s will appointed decision, Spirit, is there any problem?"
The black-robed man’s voice sounded by her ear. Spirit hesitated for a moment, then immediately nodded.
"It is my honor to serve the two lords."
She thus spoke, and then moved her consciousness.
In an instant, the sea of trees surged! Countless tall trees seemed to be activated, swinging their vines, the vines tightly wrapped around the cabin, then forcefully squeezed! The enormous force instantly shredded the entire cabin into fine wood shavings!
A slightly pained voice emanated from the inside of the vines.
"Spirit? What are you doing? Stop it, you’re hurting me!"
"I’m sorry, Carmille, this is not a joke."
At this moment, Spirit’s tone became calm instead; loyalty and righteousness... she was just making her choice.
Thus, the vines tightened once more. As the force grew greater and stronger, Carmille, squeezed till breathing became difficult, instantly understood her current situation!
Her good friend... good pal... is about to kill her?
She still didn’t understand why Spirit suddenly assaulted her, but this couldn’t change the body’s most instinctive survival desire. Suddenly some scrolls flew out from Carmille’s sleeve; as the scrolls unfurled, endless vines shot out from inside the paintings. They entwined with the vines controlled by Spirit outside, surprisingly making way for some space for Carmille!
She swept her hand across the space ring, and dozens of scrolls flew out again. Immediately, dozens of fierce mutant beasts broke free from the scrolls, instantly tearing the vines apart.
Usually, the paintings act as reserves, kept for crucial moments, just like some researchers, who appear harmless but gradually accumulate tools at an unrivaled moment that can unleash tremendous power.
Once all this ended, only then did Carmille see the scene outside.
The starry night sky had been covered by a pale blue light curtain. Countless birds, insects, and beasts seemed intimidated by the murderous intent, scrambling to flee from this place. Ahead, Spirit’s manifestation stood tall; she stood on the treetop, her eyes only emanating merciless killing intent.
Then, Carmille saw nearly a hundred mysterious people in black robes walking out of the woods. The leader had an Asian face, his complexion pale without any blood color, and just by looking, gave an impression of nausea and disgust.
"I am Li Quan’an, ordered by Lord Demigod to take your life!"
Li Quan’an’s voice was gentle, carrying some mature male charm. However, upon hearing this, Carmille felt chills run through her body and her eyes gleamed with disbelief.
"How is it possible... I am his fiancée... I’m carrying his child... you..."
While speaking, Carmille’s voice gradually lowered. Only now did she understand that the Demigod’s cruelty and ruthlessness were far above her own estimation!
"Kill her!"
Li Quan’an spoke thus, and then the vines danced again, Spirit’s eyes glowed coldly. That killing intent made Carmille’s skin crawl.
"Spirit... listen to me..."
"I’m sorry, Carmille, I think, you’re better off going straight to death!"
