Apocalypse: Master of Soul Beasts

Chapter 1452 - 94: This Is Called Charisma

The moonlight grows denser.

It wasn’t until the horizon glimmered with dawn that Lord Guer and Number Three Uncle finally concluded their conversation.

Lord Guer gained Number Three Uncle as an "external aid", while Wen Yu, though not obtaining everything he desired, still reaped considerable rewards.

The three Ancient Demon Guards disappeared once again into the lush jungle, while Lord Guer and Wen Yu returned along the same path to the settlement point, preparing for the next tasks.

Convincing Ray and Marcus...

Indeed, attempting to persuade an eighth-level Breakthrough Achiever as a third-level one is akin to an insurmountable, foolhardy endeavor.

Lord Guer was not devoid of self-awareness, frowning all the way, seemingly contemplating how to break this stalemate and gain two "high-ranking" external aids. Wen Yu simply observed Lord Guer until they followed the tunnel back to the settlement point, where Wen Yu lightly patted Lord Guer’s shoulder.

"Don’t worry, leave it to me."

As he said this, his face showed a confident expression, while Lord Guer just managed a stiff smile, seemingly lacking faith in Wen Yu.

But then again, having confidence is quite doubtful indeed...

Lord Guer’s move to enlist Number Three Uncle to win over Ray and Marcus was an idle gamble, succeeding (with less than a one percent chance) would be ideal, but if unsuccessful, it could still add support to the rebel army — indeed, Number Three Uncle, at peak level 3, is currently a significant asset to the rebel army...

In any case, given Ray and Marcus’s attitude toward the Demon Tribe, the potential gains far outweigh minor risks.

"Well then, Uncle, rest well, I’ll go ahead."

Lord Guer said this, gently bowing to Wen Yu, and then disappeared among the tent clusters while Wen Yu watched Guer leave, smiling briefly afterward.

"Still too young..."

The notion of cajoling and bluffing is quite tempting, and embellishing one’s power is indeed a clever move, but the mistake lies in Guer saying too much.

Confiding so much in a stranger after only a few days can only be explained by a child’s sudden bragging due to holding power.

Needless to say, even with the insider’s help, this kid Guer will not accomplish much in the future — too inexperienced, too tender, too young.

But...

No worries...

There’s still your charming "Number Three Uncle"...

Wen Yu smiled slightly, Soul Fluctuation instantly spreading, transmitting instantly into Ray’s ear.

"Come see me!"

...

The next day.

Guer, upon waking, quickly dressed and ate, then hurried over to Wen Yu’s tent.

Along the way, Guer’s mind raced as he quickly thought through potential issues during the persuasion of Ray and Marcus — he needed to discuss the detailed implementation steps with his "Number Three Uncle".

However, as soon as he arrived at Wen Yu’s tent and before he could enter, a string of voices reached Guer’s ears.

"Sir, our rebel army is not aimed at overthrowing Yanjing’s rule, merely seeking a place for these homeless Demon Tribe to reside..."

"Sir, think about it..."

Number Three Uncle’s harmonized voice, melodious like that of a thrush, until a thunderous voice abruptly rang in Guer’s ears.

"Who?"

The next moment, a large hand extended from the deep inside the tent and harshly grasped Guer’s neck, dragging him inside.

"Sir, wait a moment, let me solemnly introduce the current leader of the rebel army, Lord Guer!"

Wen Yu calmly stood beside Guer, pointed to Guer, then smiled at him and pointed to the person tightly clutching Guer.

"This one, sir, you also know, is Lord Ray from the settlement point."

Guer saw stars, feeling like getting Number Three to handle this was a huge mistake — what madness, tackling head-on without any plan, who do you think you are?

Yet as Wen Yu finished his introduction, Ray simply let go of Guer, lightly nodded to him, with geniality in his eyes.

"I’ve long heard Number Three praise you incessantly, Guer, meeting you today, you truly are extraordinary, a dragon among men!"

Guer’s mouth fell open...

...

"So, you want me to join this rebel army, right?"

Inside Wen Yu’s tent, three figures, two large and one small, sat down; upon hearing Ray speak, Guer nervously glanced at Wen Yu, who returned a warm smile to Guer.

This smile seemed to restore Guer’s confidence, he lightly nodded.

"Indeed, Lord Ray, our rebel army needs your assistance."

"With the rebel army fragmented, leaving only me and a few third-level members, we desperately need new blood and a strong leader. Given your recent actions, Lord Ray, I think..."

"Alright."

Before Guer could finish, Ray gestured with his hand, pondered deeply, then finally nodded lightly.

"I agree."

"What? Perhaps you didn’t listen carefully..."

"I listened quite carefully, didn’t I? You want new blood and a powerful leader, right? I’m joining."

Guer’s eyes widened, seemingly unable to believe that this less-than-one-percent chance just landed right on him, he glanced at the confident number three uncle, and then at the calm Ray, swallowed hard, and reopened into a smile.

"Well then, welcome Lord Ray."

"Hm, nothing about welcomes, just that what Number Three just... Uncle told me about your ideals and goals matches mine, we’re, in a way, kindred spirits, just meeting too late..."

Ray sighed, sparking another round of reciprocal praise.

This round of boasting was indeed mutually enjoyable...

Not until noon did Ray and Guer finally take a break, and after stating he would return in the evening, Ray left the tent, leaving Guer and Wen Yu gazing at each other.

For a moment, Guer was suddenly startled from his reverie, looking at his Number Three Uncle with disbelief in his eyes.

"Is it done?"

"What?"

"I mean, is it done so simply?"

Wen Yu shrugged.

"You handed it over to me, didn’t you? I just did it — needless to say, Lord Ray is quite easy to talk to; as for Lord Marcus’s side, with Lord Ray’s support, it shouldn’t be much of a problem."

"So, to answer your question, yes, it’s done..."

"Oh yeah!"

Guer jumped three feet high, tightly hugged Wen Yu’s neck, seemingly rejoicing that he finally struck it lucky this time and stumbled upon a treasure.

Wen Yu just smiled.

His tone lingered.

"This is what they call charisma..."
