Apocalypse: Master of Soul Beasts

Chapter 1453 - 95: Planning and Strategies

At dusk, Ray once again came into Wen Yu’s tent, but he didn’t bring Marcus with him.

Seeing this, Wen Yu had already half expected it, but Guer’s face showed clear disappointment.

Ray first looked at Wen Yu, then turned to Guer and gave him an explanation.

"I brought up the Rebel Army issue with Marcus in a roundabout way, but he didn’t give me any direct response. You two know what Marcus is like—lazy in his work and willful as hell. I didn’t dare get into too many details, afraid he’d mess up something big..."

"As for Marcus, I think we need to take the long view."

In this kind of setting, Wen Yu naturally couldn’t say a word, and though Guer was a bit disappointed after listening, he could only nod in agreement.

"Really troubling you, Brother Lei."

"It’s not really trouble, but given how hard it is to win Marcus over, I don’t think we should pour all our energy into this. So, little brother Guer, what should we do next?"

That question directly stunned Guer into silence...

Because he honestly had no idea what they ought to do next.

From the Demon Realm Resistance Army getting crushed, to the Demon Spirit setting up camps, to the Demon Spirit driving them all out of the Demon Realm in one go, to Guer barely escaping with his life and getting saved by Marcus, to Guer getting in touch here with that (or those) unknown Insider and the remaining Resistance members—everything had happened insanely fast, in less than a month, with way too much packed into it, and Guer was still too young...

In short, right now Guer only wanted to expand the Rebel Army’s power, but he had absolutely no concrete plan of action—how much can you really expect a kid to handle?

So the air at the scene went quiet...

"We should... I think..."

Guer scratched his Ear in confusion, completely at a loss, and after a long while still couldn’t squeeze out a full sentence. Wen Yu snuck a glance at Ray; a moment later, Wen Yu patted Guer on the shoulder and leaned close to his Ear to whisper a couple of lines.

"Right, we should first build a base, then gather up the Demon Tribe. Oh, Brother Lei, there should still be plenty of Demon Fiends in Zone Three, right?"

"Plenty!"

Those Demon Fiends were hiding all over; they hadn’t caused much of a stir, but fully wiping them out was no easy task—in fact, the military had already stopped focusing on them. Just the Independents who needed points and magic crystals were more than enough to make the remaining Demon Fiends wish they were dead.

"Then Brother Lei, if we can get our hands on a mainland bloc, how many Demon Tribe members can you help me move over?"

"As many as you want, but the issue isn’t the number of Demon Tribe, it’s supplies. You know this: food, water, basic living needs—that’s what you really can’t do without."

At this point, Ray fell silent for a moment, then spoke again with a hint of puzzlement.

"You just mentioned a mainland bloc, right? You can get a mainland bloc?"

"Uh..."

Guer opened his mouth, apparently a bit at a loss, but after a moment he still gave a small nod.

"It’s not that I... can get a mainland bloc, it’s just... I think, in the tiered battle ground... there are so many no-man’s-lands here, we can take one as our... Well, fine, I do actually have the exact coordinates of a specific mainland bloc."

"It’s mainland bloc Number 01864 in Zone Three."

From his initial hesitation to the later fluency, it was obvious: at first Guer had wanted to hide his ’secret weapon’, but under the pressure of those two questioning pairs of eyes, he ultimately couldn’t carry the lie through.

"Who gave you the coordinates? It’s not some huge secret, sure, but people with low rank shouldn’t be able to access the detailed layout of mainland blocs in the tiered battle ground."

Faced with Ray’s doubt, Guer simply shook his head.

"That I don’t know."

"Alright, alright..."

Ray caught Wen Yu’s look, then switched topics.

"Let’s keep talking about supplies. I can provide part of the supplies myself, but at most that’s enough for ten thousand Demon Tribe. If we can rope Marcus in, that’s enough supplies for another ten thousand Demon Tribe. Together, twenty thousand. Do you think that’s enough people?"

Once again, Guer pinched his chin, his small face scrunching up—he really didn’t know if that was enough.

He’d never seen a scene that big in his life.

"Not enough! If we want to realize our grand blueprint, that manpower is nowhere near enough!"

Wen Yu leaned close to Guer’s Ear again, quietly offering advice.

"Not enough, Brother Lei, can you provide a bit more?"

Guer still had a lot of faith in his Number 3 Uncle.

But Ray shook his head.

"Any more, and it’ll not only draw suspicion and thus risk and attention, it’ll also be beyond my ability."

Ray was just a corps commander, not some major warlord. He did receive military pay, but he wasn’t in charge of logistics—and no matter how large one person’s pay is, the number of people it can support is always limited.

The atmosphere became heavy for a while...

Until Guer suddenly clenched his teeth, stood up under Ray and Wen Yu’s gaze, and spoke.

"I’ll see if there’s another way!"

That said, he walked out of the tent.

Seeing this, Wen Yu and Ray exchanged a look, and Wen Yu’s eyes turned cold.

A simple little setup—use supplies and future development as two opposing pressures to force Guer to seek external help.

Where could Guer’s external help come from?

Only from the Insider...

...

Soul Power was everywhere, completely shrouding the entire settlement point. In these conditions, Wen Yu was the heavens and earth here, the deity of this place; naturally, the series of things Guer did after returning to his own tent couldn’t escape Wen Yu’s eyes.

But in truth, Guer had no way to contact the ’Insider’. He just sat silently in his tent and waited.

Until Ray took his leave from Wen Yu, until the moonlight grew thick, until midnight, only then did the communicator hidden in Guer’s Space Equipment start to ring.

"Hello..."

"Hello, kid!"

Still the voice changer, still a one-time number—and this time it had been bounced through countless relay devices.

By the time they finished their opening lines, the Yanjing Institute had already given the final verdict—this number could not be traced at all...

For Wen Yu, this was also within expectations—from the start until now, this Insider’s style had been cautious. Wen Yu never expected him to slip up on the communication side.

What Wen Yu intended was to catch him red-handed when they tried to hand over the supplies!

But reality slapped Wen Yu in the face.

"I need supplies, at least... uh, at least enough for ten million Demon Fiends to live for more than a year!"

That was what you’d call a Lion’s big open mouth.

But the reply from the other side of the communicator was crisp and direct.

"Oh, you mean supplies. Did I not tell you that I left enough supplies in mainland bloc Number 01864 in Zone Three XXX for ten million Demon Fiends to live for over ten years?"

"..."

"Then I must have forgotten~~"
