“Just one last step left. Tsk, tsk, this task—it should be what they call a five-minute job, two-hour journey?”

The three of them joked around for a moment, then Sun Ye jumped into the fissure first, followed closely by Howard and Stuart.

…

Guer had never felt the path from his bedroom to the elevator was this long.

Even in the Rebel Army’s First Base, his own stronghold, Guer felt trapped in enemy territory, surrounded by foes.

Endless steel rain relentlessly poured down from all directions; even as a Level 8 Limit Breakthrough Level Demon Monster, Guer could only rely on Stuart’s steel summons to protect himself and Number 3 Uncle.

The fierce assault lasted ten seconds, and once this long period passed, Guer immediately noticed the steel sword rain around him thinning and finally disappearing.

“Survived…”

Just as he felt a stroke of fortune, the next second, a massive steel tearing sound exploded violently, as if the solid iron wall above had been wildly ripped apart by invisible hands, instantly splitting the Rebel Army’s First Base into two.

Under the bright moonlight pouring down, Guer looked up suddenly and saw three figures simultaneously leap down from the breach above.

Their target was precisely the Balu Monster’s main body deep underground, emitting uneasy cries.

In that instant, little Guer’s heart sank.

Past memories flooded his mind, and in no time, Guer understood the cause and effect of it all.

Turns out no one cared about his ideals, his ambitions, or the Rebel Army’s First Base that he established.

From start to finish, the only thing worth coveting on him was one.

Balu Monster.

…

His steps became staggered, reaching the entrance of the elevator when Guer stopped abruptly, his face pale as he listened to the increasingly urgent cries from the Balu Monster below but unable to move.

“Come on! Come on!”

Beside him, Number 3 Uncle looked anxious, pulling Guer as if wanting to go underground quickly together, but body size couldn’t determine strength; under Number 3 Uncle’s tugging, Guer remained immoveable.

“Uncle…”

Guer lifted his head, his eyes already brimming with tears.

“I’m scared…”

A simple sentence seemed to reveal Guer’s true thoughts.

Faced with an overwhelming force, no one isn’t afraid.

Looking at the child’s fearful, hollow eyes, even Wen Yu himself held ill will towards Guer, yet felt sadness from his heart.

This child himself did nothing wrong.

His only mistake was possessing great treasures and meeting the wrong people at a time without protection…

Gripping tightly onto Guer’s hand, Wen Yu slowly loosened his grasp. In that moment, Wen Yu looked at Guer, seeing little Guer drooping his head, tears dripping continuously, like a child punished to stand for doing wrong, bewildered and lost.

After a silence lasting over ten seconds, Wen Yu then crouched down, gently hugging Guer.

“In that case, let’s leave.”

“Um!”

Wen Yu could feel the child in his arms gently squirming, then nodding—he made a right choice…

Yet…

The sorrow of the weak lies in having no choice at all!

“Goo goo~~ Goo goo~~~”

Underground, the sorrowful cries of the Balu Monster grew louder, reaching a peak, and the next second, the cries abruptly stopped, making the entire Rebel Army’s First Base eerily quiet as if a ghostly domain.

As the wind blew past, three figures appeared around Wen Yu and little Guer.

…

“Yo yo yo, look what I’ve found? Two living stragglers!”

Stuart chuckled in an exaggerated, strange voice, pacing leisurely and forming a triangle with Howard and Sun Ye to surround Guer and Wen Yu.

At this moment, Guer seemed to suddenly regain his senses; he glanced at the surrounding trio, focusing particularly on the transparent ball Sun Ye was playing with.

Inside the ball, a miniature, tiny Balu Monster crawled continuously within.

For a moment, Guer and the Balu Monster locked eyes, the atmosphere abruptly silent…

“I don’t want it anymore.”

Little Guer said so.

“Huh? What did you say?”

Howard seemed not to hear little Guer’s words. He looked at Guer, with eyes flickering with an obscure light.

At this moment, the choices left for little Guer became even fewer.

“I said, I don’t want it anymore!”

Guer inexplicably gathered courage, looking at Howard and shouting loudly.

“I don’t want the Rebel Army’s First Base, nor the Balu Monster anymore. I want nothing, I just beg you to let us go.”

“Your goal is just the Balu Monster; I think whether we live or die shouldn’t affect anything.”

Little Guer’s words were clear and his thoughts were correct—from start to finish, Guer and this Rebel Army’s First Base meant nothing.

They could be killed or not; it didn’t matter—as it’s merely a Level 8 Limit Breakthrough Level Demon Monster, still freshly breakthrough, this level of power…

Who cares?

No one cares…

“The little guy is a bit interesting…”

After hearing Guer’s words, Howard smiled and then suddenly raised his hand.

Accompanied by a gravitational wave ejected from his fingertips, the transparent ripple cut through the air like a bullet, instantly passing through little Guer’s body.

“You!”

Little Guer looked at Howard in disbelief, then lowered his head, looking at the affected area on himself…

Nothing happened.

No pain, no injury, just like a breeze passing over his body, leaving only a slight chill, without anything else.

“What was that…”

Little Guer searched around his body and then looked at Howard, seemingly not understanding Howard’s intention.

And Howard just curled his lips, indicating little Guer to look behind.

“Bang.”

The sound of a body hitting the ground echoed.

Guer jerked back, then he saw his Number 3 Uncle clutching his abdomen lying on the ground, face twisted, pained, and totally bloodless.

Only at this moment did little Guer understand that Howard’s attack target just now wasn’t himself at all…

…

“Uncle…”

“Uncle…”

Guer called out in a daze, while Wen Yu just clutched his waist, twisting his body continuously.

The gravitational wave hit straight into the organs, instantly smashing everything inside into minced meat, even an Ancient Demon of peak Level 8 couldn’t withstand this level of assault.

“Alright, the nuisances are cleaned up. Now, you follow us.”

Howard said this, then walked forward and grabbed Guer.
