Chapter 75: Gore-Scaled Abyssal Behemoth II

"I’ve got this one," Lothe said, his dark eyes igniting with a sharp, predatory glint.

He didn’t retreat.

He lunged forward to meet the beast head-on!

[Rift Thrust!]

Lothe drove the Void Spear forward, coiling purple spatial Qi around the blade.

BOOOOOOM!!

The spearhead struck the Behemoth’s chest scales.

However, instead of piercing straight through, the immense density of the creature’s armor deflected the spatial point! The kinetic impact detonated like a bomb, generating an explosive shockwave!

BANG!

Lothe was blasted backward, his boots carving deep trenches into the soil. Pain flared through his forearms as his fingers vibrated violently against the spear shaft.

Fast! And absurdly durable!

Before Lothe could reset his footing, the Behemoth closed the distance with terrifying speed, sweeping its massive, venomous claw in a wide horizontal arc!

FWOOSH!

Lothe raised his spear shaft defensively.

CLANG!!

The strike landed with the force of a falling meteor.

Lothe was launched fifty feet across the clearing, smashing through two thick tree trunks before slamming heavily into a stone outcrop.

PFFT!

Blood escaped the corner of his mouth.

Lothe wiped it away with his thumb, his eyes remaining fixed on the Behemoth.

The creature didn’t give him even a moment to breathe.

"ROAAAAAR!!"

It charged again, the ground trembling beneath every step.

Lothe pushed himself off the stone.

[Void Step]

CLICK!

His body vanished.

The Behemoth’s claw tore through empty air, shattering a tree behind Lothe into splinters.

BOOM!

Lothe reappeared several feet to the creature’s side, his spear already moving.

[Rift Thrust!]

SHING!

Purple spatial Qi condensed around the spearhead. This time, Lothe didn’t aim for the chest. He targeted the joint beneath its shoulder.

BOOM!

The spear struck. The Behemoth’s body shifted violently, but instead of collapsing, it twisted with the impact and swung its other arm backward!

Lothe’s pupils contracted.

It adapted to the force!

He immediately pulled his spear back.

FWOOSH!

The obsidian claw passed inches from his face, dropping a splash of black venom onto the ground.

SIZZLE!

The soil immediately began to smoke.

Lothe’s expression became serious. I can’t afford to get grazed by that.

The Behemoth roared and released a wave of corrupted Qi.

[Abyssal Shockwave!]

BOOOOOOM!!

A black shockwave erupted from its body, bending the surrounding trees violently.

Lothe crossed his spear in front of himself and injected Void Qi into his boots. The shockwave slammed into him.

BANG!

His body was forced backward, but this time, he didn’t resist the force—he allowed it to carry him.

His feet touched the ground, and then—

CLICK!

He vanished.

Lothe appeared twenty feet behind the Behemoth, his eyes narrowing.

That technique isn’t just brute force.

He stared at the creature. The shockwave had been released immediately after its failed claw strike, followed instantly by a charge.

Lothe’s gaze sharpened. It has a rhythm.

The Behemoth turned, lowering its enormous body before lunging once more.

[Void Step!]

CLICK!

Lothe disappeared just as the Behemoth’s claws tore through the space where he had been standing.

He reappeared behind it.

[Rift Thrust!]

BOOM!

The spear struck its back, though the scales absorbed most of the force. The Behemoth spun around almost instantly.

FWOOSH!

Lothe ducked beneath the claw.

Another swipe came from the opposite direction.

FWOOSH!

He bent backward, the claw passing inches above his chest.

A third strike followed. Lothe’s body twisted smoothly.

FWOOSH!

Missed.

CLICK!

He vanished again. The Behemoth slammed its fist into the ground, cracking the bedrock.

BOOM!!

Lothe appeared several meters away. His breathing remained steady, but his eyes had changed completely.

He wasn’t simply fighting anymore.

He was watching. Studying.

Every movement. Every transition. Every attack. Every moment the creature shifted its weight.

The right claw always comes after the left. When it misses twice, it uses Abyssal Shockwave.

When its opponent retreats, it charges. When it takes a direct hit, it doesn’t immediately counterattack—it changes its center of gravity first.

Lothe’s grip tightened around the Void Spear.

It’s not random.

The Behemoth roared again and charged.

Lothe didn’t move immediately. He waited.

Three steps. Two. One—

CLICK!

[Void Step!]

He vanished.

The Behemoth’s claws tore through empty air. Lothe appeared beside its rear leg.

[Rift Thrust!]

SHING!

The spear struck the scales.

BOOM!

The Behemoth staggered. Lothe’s eyes lit up. There!

But before he could follow up, the Behemoth’s tail whipped around at terrifying speed.

WHOOOOM!!

Lothe’s expression changed. Too fast! He crossed his spear in front of his body.

CLANG!!

The impact sent him flying. He spun through the air before executing Void Step to stabilize himself.

CLICK!

He reappeared above the forest floor. The Behemoth was already beneath him, a dark pulse of corrupted Qi gathering inside its throat.

Another ability?

The creature unleashed a concentrated blast of abyssal energy.

BOOOOOOM!!

Lothe teleported away just in time. The blast tore through the forest behind him, obliterating trees and leaving a deep black scar across the earth.

Lothe landed on a thick tree branch and stared at the destruction.

So it has a ranged attack it hasn’t used until now.

A grin slowly appeared on his face. "This is getting interesting."

The Behemoth looked up, its furnace-like eyes locking onto him. Then its scales began glowing with dark energy.

Abyssal Gore Armor!

The corrupted Qi covering its body thickened, surging its defensive aura to another level.

Lothe’s eyes narrowed. Its defense just increased again.

The Behemoth launched itself toward the tree. Lothe jumped into the air.

CLICK!

He vanished as the creature smashed the tree to splinters.

Lothe appeared behind it.

[Rift Thrust!]

BOOM!

The spear struck its back, but—

CLANG!!

The spatial energy scattered uselessly against the boosted armor. The Behemoth barely moved.

Lothe’s pupils contracted. I can’t break through with direct force.

The creature turned and swung its claw down. Lothe raised his spear.

CLANG!!

His knees buckled under the force. Another claw came immediately after.

BANG!!

Lothe was forced across the ground, digging his boots into the soil.

The Behemoth charged again.
