Using his hands as casting "aiming points" to help him multicast five Radiant Spears simultaneously was a method Max came up with to improve his multicasting.

In his past life, the maximum number of spells he could multicast was four, and since he reached B-rank three days ago, he immediately practiced to break through that limit, knowing it was not difficult for him and that it was necessary for his battle against Varkhaz.

Varkhaz was at the peak of the Greater Demon rank, and Max had to exhaust every means available to improve himself and prepare for the battle against him.

The "gun" sign was a casting technique he had successfully developed over the past three days, but it was only possible for Radiant Spears.

However, using the foundation of the "gun" sign, it was not difficult to come up with various hand signs to use as directional casting focuses.

In other words, he was using gestures as a form of mana-channeling shorthand.

The index finger established the spell’s direction, the thumb acted as a stabilizing mana anchor, the hand position determined the casting vector, and finger separation or positioning distinguished individual spell trajectories.

Hence, the "gun" signs acted as his casting focuses, with each movement helping him divide and direct his mana into multiple spell formations.

Five brilliant Radiant Spears, appearing like miniature lances of sunlight, illuminated the darkness, revealing the hideous figures of Varkhaz and his Legions.

Each Radiant Spear posed a threat to Varkhaz’s Legion, and he did not want to see them being destroyed without having the chance to prove themselves by fighting against Max’s forces.

As the demons said, "He who strikes first wins."

Seeing that the captain of the enemy team had struck first, he would not allow him to successfully diminish his overall strength.

He raised his Ashrender as Hellfire burst forth from its body.

Seeing the Radiant Spears bolting toward him and ignoring his Legions below, Varkhaz smirked and swung the Ashrender, releasing a massive crescent of Hellfire that threatened to swallow the five miniature lances of sunlight.

When the Radiant Spears and Hellfire collided, it seemed as though an eclipse had descended—the light and darkness attempted to cancel each other out.

The devastation was immense—vegetation in Varkhaz’s direction withered and was scorched by the Hellfire.

Divine light from the Radiant Spears sliced through trunks and soil, seemingly executing divine judgment upon every being in its path.

Varkhaz’s forces remained safe as they rushed toward Max’s direction.

Having drained 205 mana at once, only to have his attack proven futile against Varkhaz’s Hellfire, Max snorted and didn’t waste his mana anymore.

His strongest attack had still failed, irking him.

Gazing at Varkhaz’s forces and spotting some familiar faces, he smirked and slowed down his horse.

Seraphina slowed down as well, while her Holy Knight drew his sword, ready to protect his master.

He didn’t need to fight the demons head-on anyway. He was only tasked with protecting Seraphina.

Seraphina, on the other hand, remained side by side with Max as they watched the Demon Hunters collide with the demons, actually gaining the upper hand.

Danny remained at Max’s side as well, constantly providing support to the Demon Hunters.

The Demon Hunters fought with astonishing coordination and extreme familiarity against the demons.

As if they had clashed with Varkhaz’s forces many times before.

The Holy Knight was astonished. Even Seraphina’s eyes widened as she finally cast healing spells to prevent the Demon Hunters on the sidelines from dying.

The youngest Saintess proved to be experienced when it came to healing and purification, efficiently burning through her mana while rapidly recovering it throughout the process.

The Tactician and the Saintess on the backline strengthened and greatly supported the Demon Hunters on the frontline, who were filled with vigor as they slew demons without fear on their faces.

Small demonic creatures roughly the size of humans, with bodies constantly shedding sparks and cinders that always exploded upon death, proved to be useless cannon fodder against Demon Hunters who appeared to be extremely familiar with their abilities and behavior.

Four-legged demonic predators with bodies resembling wolves formed from ash and molten bone, which possessed an explosive leap attack, couldn’t slash through the one-handed shield of a Demon Hunter before being slain by his mace.

Large, muscular demons that possessed resistance to physical attacks were bombarded with offensive spells from mages, preventing them from striking with their melee attacks before dying as a result.

Despite being slow but durable, their large physical bodies proved useless against the mages’ magic attacks.

Meanwhile, spell-casting demons who attacked in groups were taken down one by one by the Demon Hunters with the Ranger class.

These D-rank demons totaled 300, and they were on the frontline—with a quarter dying in just a matter of minutes.

The Demon Hunters they faced, despite mostly being D-rank as well, with some being C-rank and a handful being B-rank, proved to be overwhelming for them.

C-rank demons had already joined the battle the moment the expendable soldiers failed to exhaust the strength of the Demon Hunters.

The C-rank demons were Varkhaz’s professional soldiers—hence, they managed to make the Demon Hunters struggle slightly.

There were 190 C-rank demons, while the Demon Hunters had 200 C-rankers and 300 D-rankers, making their numbers roughly equal to Varkhaz’s forces.

However, if Varkhaz and his ten captains were to be added, Max and his Demon Hunters truly appeared to be at a disadvantage.

If it were not because the D-rank demons were the first to bear the full brunt of the Demon Hunters’ attacks, Varkhaz and his forces might have already swallowed Max’s forces.

Watching the C-rank demons injure the Demon Hunters and make the latter struggle before they successfully killed them, Seraphina turned toward Max and said, "No retreat?"

Max shook his head.

Danny heard Max’s response and did not suggest retreating, as he was busy issuing commands to the Demon Hunters.

However, when he saw the upper C-rank demons making a move, he frowned.

The first C-rank demons to make a move were only 120 of them, ranging from lower to middle rank.

There were 70 upper C-rank demons, while there were only 50 Demon Hunters at that level...
