Apocalypse: the Most Ruthless Person
Chapter 764: Flash
Chapter 764: Chapter 635: Flash
“Awoo, ohwoof…”
“Squeak, chichi, squeak!”
Good Fortune and the rat were fighting fiercely, with Good Fortune’s long fur flying and the rat’s short fur bristling. Drops of bright red blood dripped from Good Fortune’s nose, one of the few unprotected spots without fur, thus becoming the opponent’s key target, staining the nose bridge and mouth area, as if it had sneakily eaten a dragon fruit!
“Damn it, this speed… I’m kind of lagging behind!”
Zhang Su came to the edge of the battle circle, feeling the combat between Good Fortune and the rat at close range. He felt like two gusts of wind were swirling in place, and if relying solely on his eyes, he couldn’t keep up with the speed. He had to capture their moves through the mist; his mind was quick enough to process images, but his physical abilities couldn’t compare with those of the two awakened animals!
He didn’t dare to intervene recklessly, as it might hinder instead, maybe even accidentally slice Good Fortune, leading to a dire outcome.
“Where did this rat come from? Try using mind control!”
Ju Mumio appeared beside Zhang Su like a specter, speaking softly. Her suggestion indicated that she wasn’t confident in intervening in the battle either.
“Wait a bit, I’ve got it!”
Zhang Su raised a finger, his brow furrowed, suddenly shouting, “Flash! Is it you?”
Awoken from a dream, he vaguely remembered someone mentioning something about a rat. Rushed and without much thought, the cold wind slapped him, helping the memory emerge.
Pa…
The originally evenly matched battle saw a turning point when Zhang Su called out the name “Flash.”
The rat froze for just a moment, and in that damned moment, Good Fortune’s plump paw truly lashed like lightning, slapping the rat flying, akin to a cannonball smashing onto a slope!
Poof, smack, smack, thud, roll…
“How did you know…”
Ju Mumio looked at Zhang Su with some surprise, not understanding how he knew the rat’s name.
“I’ll explain later… Good Fortune, stop, stop!”
Zhang Su had no time to explain to Ju Mumio; seeing Good Fortune baring its bloody mouth ready to chase the victory, he hurried to stop him, running forward and saying, “Flash, are you the Flash from Dragon Head Camp?”
“Squeak… squeaksqueak.”
The rat, slapped flying twenty meters, dizzy from rolling on the ground, shook its head and stood up. Seeing that it was not the big dog running toward it but the human who knew its name, it very humanly used its two front paws to cover its head, shook it, then looked up at the questioner and nodded.
“You really are Flash… no, no, you’ve won, and after winning you mustn’t continue fighting!”
Zhang Su grabbed the tail of the irritable Good Fortune who was ready to continue fighting, like a parent trying to stop quarreling children.
Good Fortune turned to look at Zhang Su, showing dissatisfaction by baring its teeth, raised a paw to point at its nose where blood marks were distinctly visible, and the white fur around its mouth was stained, then loudly barked: “Woof woof, woof!”
The barks were filled with reluctance, Good Fortune pointed toward Cui Leng Pavilion, then gestured at its mouth and made a strong pose.
“Not necessary, not necessary… Be good, don’t be angry. Go find Aunt Xiaoshan and have her treat your wounds. There’s a great reward waiting for you tonight for your big win. Go on.”
Zhang Su squatted to stroke Good Fortune’s head, realizing it wanted that half chicken with stimulant effects, intending to deal seriously with the little rat.
Feeling the owner’s comfort, Good Fortune’s rapid breathing slowly calmed, casting a sideways glance at the rat not far away, baring its teeth to intimidate, then turned and ran toward Little Lucky, disappearing into the darkness in the blink of an eye.
“With hundreds of people in the camp not fighting, why do you awakened animals, already so rare, start fighting upon meeting?”
Zhang Su rubbed his temple helplessly, looking at the rat who had recovered from dizziness, then said, “Hey, are you really the hamster Flash from Dragon Head Camp?”
Whether due to the awakening causing mutations, Flash’s size was larger than typical hamsters, especially elongated, not the traditional fluffy ball, truly moving toward more of a rat form, less cute…
Flash sat squatted on the ground, suddenly sensing someone approaching beside him, instantly became alert, discovering the person seemed non-hostile, then properly sat and looked at Zhang Su nodding, and pointed east.
“It seems like…” Ju Mumio furrowed her brow looking at the rat Flash, somewhat uncertain, “it seems very sad.”
Zhang Su felt a shock in his heart, saying solemnly, “Flash, did something happen at Dragon Head Camp?”
Flash’s front paws naturally dropped, sniffing his little nose, nodding.
“Damn, good brother, could it be…”
Pan Guoliang saw the little rat’s appearance, his expression peculiarly looked at Zhang Su.
Zhang Su’s face trembled slightly, asking, “Did it explode?”
“Eek!”
Flash let out a loud cry, leaped into the air, wrapped its front paws, then raised them high. After landing, it covered its head with its front paws, stuck its rear out trembling, then ran frantically back and forth, waving its paws like a shaman.
Zhang Su and the others exchanged confused glances. Just as he was about to ask Ju Mumio to call her follower Zhou Haotian, rapid footsteps could be heard from a distance.
“Eek eek, eek!”
Zhang Su had just made out that it was Shen Linrui when the mouse Flash let out a string of cries and dashed past him, heading straight for Shen Linrui.
“Ah, it’s really… really you, little fellow! No, how did you—how did you find this place?”
Shen Linrui looked visibly anxious, with his boot laces untied and his hat forgotten, half-length hair draping over his shoulders, still a bit disheveled from sleep.
He had a very special relationship with Flash. Hearing the frantic cries, he was startled and wanted to come out to check, but was wary of meddling in someone else’s camp. However, as the cries increasingly sounded like Flash’s, he decided to come out.
“Eek, wa wa, eek eek, wa…”
Seeing Shen Linrui, Flash acted as if it had found family, laying on his boots and crying, the sound was small yet filled with genuine emotion, little tears trickling down its tussled fur from fighting.
Shen Linrui felt a bit bewildered, casting a questioning glance at Zhang Su and others who had approached: “This, King Yama, was… Flash seemed to be fighting with that puppy earlier. Is it injured?”
“They were just playing, nothing serious!” Zhang Su waved a hand, his expression extremely serious, saying, “Ask about Dragon Head Camp; something happened at your camp!”
??!!
Shen Linrui’s heart sank, bending down to pick up the heartbroken Flash into his hands. Just as he was about to speak, more footsteps sounded from behind.
“Captain Shen, what’s up?”
“So lively late at night, what’s the matter?”
A few people from Dragon Head Camp, awakened by Shen Linrui’s movement, followed out. They all stayed at Qingfeng Xiaozhu, not far from where Good Fortune and Flash had clashed.
“Quiet, let me ask Flash something first!”
Shen Linrui shook his head at his companions.
“What? Flash?”
“How did Flash get here…”
“To find Captain Shen, of course. Captain Shen is practically half its owner.”
The group whispered among themselves, but Shen Linrui was too busy to listen, though Zhang Su caught everything.
“Flash, tell me, what happened at Dragon Head Camp?”
Shen Linrui gently stroked Flash’s cheek, tenderly helping to smooth its fur.
Flash gently pushed Shen Linrui’s finger away with its paw, leaped to the ground, and began its abstract performance once again.
“No, no no…”
Shen Linrui understood Flash’s gestures better than anyone else. Watching for a while, he staggered backward.
“Captain Shen, what’s wrong…”
The others at Dragon Head Camp were startled by Shen Linrui’s demeanor, quickly supporting him. It was a steep downhill path, and a slip could send one tumbling like a gourd.
“No way, how could this happen, it’s over, it’s over…”
Supported under his arms by his companions, Shen Linrui’s legs felt weak. He stood vacant-eyed, watching Flash continue its “performance,” muttering that it was over, with tears flowing down his cheeks and lips trembling.
“Ai!”
Though Zhang Su couldn’t comprehend the abstract king Flash’s act, like solving a math problem, he could easily verify the correctness by reverse-checking from the guessed answer.
He softly said to Ju Mumio and Pan Guoliang, “Dragon Head Camp has been bombed.”
“Oh my God…”
“I said yesterday the explosion sounded like it was in the Mountain and Sea District, it really was, damn!”
Pan Guoliang’s expression contorted exaggeratedly. Celestial Horse Island and Mountain and Sea District are nearly forty kilometers apart in a straight line, and to feel such a strong shock wave from such a distance, it’s unimaginable what situation the Mountain and Sea District must be in!
