Apocalypse: the Most Ruthless Person

Chapter 778: Strange People, Eccentric Corpses!

Oh oh oh, ah ah ah!

The desolate village was incredibly lively. After hearing the sound of the rooster crowing, the zombies fell silent for a brief moment, then erupted into a frenzied howl. The sound became loud and dense, and the zombies were rioting!

“Damn.”

Through the screen, everyone could see the bloodthirsty nature of the zombies. Some even tried to jump up and grab the drone, completely different from the zombies of the past.

“Could this damn be not far from using tools…?”

“Alright, stop talking about that!”

In a few months, the changes in zombies were apparent to the survivors. In this race of becoming stronger, humanity was always lagging behind in terms of physicality…

Luckily, technology could still be relied on. As proven, the drone flew away slowly in the opposite direction without any pressure, and the zombies on the ground hopped and skipped along, looking somewhat comical.

Zombies, without self-awareness, are ultimately doomed to be toyed with.

“Well done!”

Everyone breathed a sigh of relief. Duan Wuhu wanted to pat Wu Lue on the shoulder in encouragement, but considering he was seriously controlling the drone, his hand hovered in mid-air, just about to land on the other’s shoulder, while the other still let out an exclamation.

“Huh?”

Wu Lue, while controlling the drone to hover, said, “Something seems wrong… Look, look, did you see someone hiding next to the collapsed courtyard wall!”

“Someone?”

“Could there be someone? Really, look, there’s a flashlight on their head!”

“Damn!”

Everyone heard this and gathered closer to the screen. Just as they got a clear look at a glowing-headed figure, Wu Lue cursed, and suddenly the screen’s image shot sideways.

“That bastard is throwing stones at my drone!”

Wu Lue’s voice was sharply broken. The drone was now dear to his heart, a treasure a thousand times more precious than those seemingly tender teachers!

“At a height of fifty meters, can he hit it?”

Pu Chanyong saw the screen display the drone’s flight altitude of fifty-two meters and was astonished.

Fifty-two meters was about the height of the seventeenth or eighteenth floor of an average residential building. Never mind the accuracy, even throwing something that high is tough for the average person.

“Just strong, not surprising!” PE teacher Duan Wuhu wasn’t surprised, and then said, “Pull back to a safe distance and see what he’s up to!”

The oh-oh-oh sound gradually rose, climbing to a position of a hundred meters. The camera adjusted its focus, and a figure appeared on the screen. Due to the zoom, the image was blurry, not very clear, but the influence of the flashlight was reduced.

On the screen, a person was climbing over the dilapidated wall, moving agilely with nimble posture. They wore a headlamp and carried a long-handled weapon that looked like a steel spear. Their body was not fat, but they wore a lot, appearing rounded.

“Someone’s really there… Where the hell did this guy come from!”

“Could they be a survivor from the village…”

“Damn, damn, damn, look at what he’s doing!”

Pu Chanyong pointed at the screen and spewed some flowery language.

In the blink of an eye, the person wielding the long-handled weapon charged at the small cluster of zombie groups and actually began attacking the zombies!

Because the drone was playing a ringtone and hovering in the air, the zombie group had always been gathering towards the center. Over a hundred zombies were tightly packed together. In such a chaotic situation, the zombies on the outer ring got attacked, but those inside had no reaction at all.

“That’s not right! It seems like… He’s not trying to kill zombies, is he crazy?”

Someone immediately noticed the issue.

The mysterious person rushed to the edge of the zombie group, initially having a great chance to kill the outer zombies without being noticed. Not saying too much, he could easily take down seven or eight zombies quickly enough!

But he only knocked the zombies down with the steel spear in his hand, sweeping across their legs, one, two, five, ten…

Soon, a small patch had fallen!

“This person is quick and skilled! But why waste the effort to trip zombies…”

Fan Donglu, the combat backbone of the Dragon Head Camp, raised this question. He thought the person was tripping zombies for more precise kills, but after tripping them, he just left them!

“I don’t get it… Oh no, the zombies noticed him!”

The zombie group finally realized there was blood prey harassing nearby, so they gave up the drone in the air and one by one turned back to attack the blood prey served to them by the mysterious person.

At this point, the zombies previously tripped by the mysterious person served as a buffer. Only a few zombies could cross the obstacles immediately, and the mysterious person retreated while continuing to attack the lower parts of the zombies with the long-handled weapon.

He didn’t kill the zombies, but kept controlling them…

From the drone camera’s view to the ground, a group of zombies kept getting up, chasing, and falling over, continually and relentlessly, with an indescribable weirdness.

“This guy… he’s damn interesting!”

“No kidding, his method is pretty ingenious. These zombies run so fast, but with his way, one person can easily lead away over a hundred zombies without drones or vehicles. That’s pretty impressive!”

“Even if there were vehicles, they wouldn’t work. Look at the road conditions now; cars can’t move. But… is he planning to celebrate the New Year with this horde of zombies?”

The nine people in the yard saw this way of dealing with zombies for the first time and couldn’t help but marvel, feeling that they had learned something!

But they can’t just keep leading the zombie horde indefinitely, can they? Until the end of time, exhausting the zombies’ energy?

In terms of stamina, even ten people in relay can’t outlast the zombies. The generators powered by oxen and horses on Celestial Horse Island had already proven that.

“Should we take the initiative? It’s just over a hundred zombies, no big ones. That guy is attracting them from the front; we can attack from behind. It’s not dangerous!”

Zhao Dezhu suggested. If Zhang Su had been there, he would certainly have kept his mouth shut…

“I feel like he wants to trap the zombie horde. Let’s not disturb them for now. Xiaowu, can you keep the phone quiet, and go follow them to see?”

Duan Wuhu pointed at the gradually receding zombie horde and the mysterious person.

Wu Lue scratched his head, somewhat deflated, “This… there’s no way to control it remotely!”

The sound wasn’t coming from a drone, but from a phone inside a net bag.

“Can’t you drop it like a bomb? Just ditch it!”

Duan Wuhu said. He remembered they used a drone to place a “grape” before.

Wu Lue chuckled awkwardly, “The, the net bag is my own addition. It’s, it’s very stable… can’t remove it, but I can fly it higher. The noise won’t bother the zombies much.”

Saying this, Wu Lue raised the drone again. The noise was indeed faint, but the image became increasingly blurry. Luckily, they only needed a rough overview.

“Is this… it should be the village hall, right? Looks like he wants to trap the zombies!”

Zhou Haiquan, familiar with rural architecture functions, could identify it from the blurry image.

“That old house doesn’t look very promising, can it work?”

Zhao Dezhu squinted. Though the image was fuzzy, he could see that the hall’s roof had a corner blown off, with considerable damage from shockwaves.

“It would be great if it works. We can stay here for the night, avoiding unnecessary trouble. Hopefully, he succeeds.”

Duan Wuhu nodded slightly. On the screen, the hall’s gate resembled a demon’s mouth, continuously swallowing the zombies lining up to enter.

“Hmm? The alarm seems to have stopped…”

Lu Yubo listened carefully and noticed the sound had disappeared.

“It only rings for ten minutes; the time’s up.” Wu Lue sighed in relief and started lowering the drone.

As the drone descended, the image became clearer. Over half the hundred-plus zombies had squeezed into the hall. Just then, the mysterious person leaped out from a window of the hall.

The zombies at the front entrance were oblivious to the escape, still surging into the hall!

“Using that junk to block the door? Nonsense!”

On the screen, the mysterious person sidled along the wall to the front entrance, pushed some random debris to the doorway, then quickly turned and ran.

“Uh, is he coming to find us?”

“Seems like it… Luezi, how long can the drone hold up?”

“Just hovering like this, an hour’s no problem. Monitor the zombie horde?”

“Exactly, keep an eye. I want to see what that person is up to! Everyone, stay alert.”

Duan Wuhu gave a look to the others.

Fully armed, the nine people weren’t afraid of a lone person. They leisurely awaited him.

Meanwhile, on the mountain of Cloud Dragon Valley, a peculiar zombie crawled out of a cave. Its condition was poor, looking sluggish, as if it hadn’t been exposed to sunlight or gained energy replenishment for a long, long time, nearly on the brink of collapse.

Awooo, awooo…

The long-headed zombie crawled out from the cave, groveling on the ground, and let out low howls.

Ordinary zombie howls sound alike, emotionless. People tend to ascribe imagined feelings based on the zombies’ circumstances. For example, yelling upon finding humans seems like excitement; after being attacked, it seems like expressing anger.

But this zombie’s howling was different, distinctly filled with pain!

Struggling to its feet, a tall figure stood at the cave entrance, over two people in height, nearly four meters, taller than an average single-story building!

Unlike the big ones, this tall zombie looked not bulky at all but rather slender…

It took heavy steps to the edge of a cliff, its long arms naturally hanging past its knees. Its vertically elongated eyes earnestly stared in the direction of the desolate village.
