Apocalypse: the Most Ruthless Person

Chapter 799 Can't Outrun, Can't Win, Can't Kill

  • Next Chapter

Boom!

The bomb made by Yu Qing was reliable and successfully detonated, standing up to the test of combat without any unexpected mishaps at the critical moment!

To the people in the car, it sounded like one explosion, but it was actually one bomb triggering another. However, the time difference was so minimal that by the time the sound reached their ears, they couldn’t tell the sequence.

“Success, success, it exploded, it must have worked, it will definitely kill that monster!”

While seriously driving, Yuan Huotu was muttering, believing in avoidance of bad omens and the law of attraction, so he always spoke positively.

The area of the explosion created a very interesting scene. Inside the purple light sphere, it was clean with nothing left, and through the light membrane, one could clearly see inside—a deep pit about the depth of a person remained, with a diameter of roughly three meters.

Outside the purple light membrane, dust and debris were flying, stones were bouncing around…

At the same time, a shockwave spread from the point of explosion. Following the wave, the figure of 004 pierced through the gray fog, rolling to the ground seven or eight meters away, with stones striking its body without any reaction.

“Did it work?”

Duan Wuhu turned his head excitedly to ask Wu Lue.

“It’s not moving for now, not a twitch, haha, lying on its side without moving, maybe it’s truly dead!”

Wu Lue had a stand and screen next to him, with real-time footage from the drone being transmitted back. 004’s long legs were curled up, its arms spread wide, and its entire body lay on its side, not showing its face.

“Really? Make sure!”

Duan Wuhu turned his head to try and view the screen but couldn’t see anything because of his angle.

“Well… Teacher Duan, it’s not human, no breath, no heartbeat, lying still doesn’t confirm it, but it’s been that way up to now, probably dead! Seventy percent sure…”

Wu Lue judged based on intuition.

Duan Wuhu nodded and transmitted the message to everyone via walkie-talkie.

The convoy didn’t stop, continuing west along the main road of the Mountain and Sea District, and upon hearing that 004 was likely dead, everyone breathed a sigh of relief, with the people from Dragon Head Camp marveling at the powerful explosion extract.

Just two small explosives made such an astounding impact…

Shen Linrui felt bitter inside. The Cyan Dragon Corps didn’t have the massive scale of Dragon Head Camp, but they knew to research and modify zombies. Dragon Head Camp wasn’t without relevant scientific personnel, but unfortunately, their leader, Dragon Head, only believed in force!

They focused on agricultural development to ensure they didn’t starve, and then cultivated combat abilities, with almost no effort on technology. The only consolation was their well-organized medical teams.

As it turns out, technology is an irreplaceable force. Human combat abilities have limits, but technological power is unpredictable, exemplified by Celestial Horse Island!

The researchers on Celestial Horse Island extracted explosive materials from mutated zombies, using them to fend off tens of thousands of zombies, establishing the camp’s foundation, while Dragon Head Camp encountered the same mutants and was decimated…

Originally, Dragon Head Camp could have wielded such a dominant weapon!

“Old Wu, don’t we still have another bomb? Let’s use it!”

In this group, only Lu Yubo called Wu Lue ‘Old Wu’. Just as everyone was relaxing, he felt uneasy.

“Is it necessary? All right!”

Wu Lue could tell Lu Yubo was serious; he only called him ‘Old Wu’ in crucial moments…

Since they were going to give a final blow, the convoy halted among the ruins, and people began to get off the vehicles.

Wu Lue recalled the drone, took the bomb from Duan Wuhu, and said with a frown, “The remote control range for this bomb is only about a hundred meters. Someone will need to drive close to detonate it. Who will do it?”

“Me.”

“Sure, I’ll do it!”

Lu Yubo and Hong the Fourth spoke at the same time.

“Master, I’m more familiar with bombs. Let me do it.” Lu Yubo knew Hong the Fourth wanted to help, but feared he’d mess it up with good intentions.

“Let me do it, Brother Xiaolu, you drive!”

Zhao Dezhu took the remote from Wu Lue.

The others didn’t argue—not necessarily from fear of danger, but other considerations…

The drone, carrying the bomb, took off as Lu Yubo drove towards 004.

“Holy crap, Brother Xiaolu, it’s our first time seeing 004 this close, right? Doesn’t it feel even more imposing than 003?”

Retracing their path was quick. Zhao Dezhu leaned out from the passenger seat, marveling at the giant zombie lying still dozens of meters away.

“It’s not moving, so what’s there to feel oppressive about… Let me turn around for a quick getaway later.”

Lu Yubo retorted and then maneuvered the car to face away from 004, pulling out a walkie-talkie and saying, “Zhuzi and I are in position, ready to drop the bomb!”

“Nice, making progress, keeping an escape route, haha.”

“Hanging out with Brother Su every day, gotta learn some skills, right?”

Lu Yubo felt quite happy at his friend’s praise, hearing Wu Lue’s voice over the walkie-talkie.

“Prepare yourself, three, two… Oh crap, run quickly!”

Duan Wuhu held the walkie-talkie to Wu Lue’s mouth, reducing the drone’s altitude and preparing to drop the bomb, when, to everyone’s shock, 004 suddenly sprang to life, picking up a basketball-sized brick with its long arms, winding up as if it were a catapult, and hurled it at the drone!

It’s hard to imagine the strength needed to toss a twenty to thirty-pound stone several stories high, yet 004 achieved it!

Fortunately, Wu Lue was focused enough, maneuvering the drone with a sharp pull to dodge the attack.

While bantering, Lu Yubo did not relax his vigilance for a second. The moment 004 sprung up, he floored the gas pedal, cranking the engine up past five thousand RPMs, the front tires kicking up a cloud of dust…

This wasn’t the fastest takeoff, as the tires lost traction and spun, but he didn’t have the luxury to optimize; his smile froze as he reflexively slammed the pedal!

“I’ll use the drone to stall it. Hurry back!”

Wu Lue shouted urgently, cold sweat trickling down his forehead, as if already envisioning 004 catching up to Zhao Dezhu and Lu Yubo, crushing the car, then smacking them dead with one blow.

In reality, 004 was annoyed by the drone, hopping left and right, continuously picking up debris to attack it, while gradually moving towards the group.

Lu Yubo could faintly see 004 in the rearview mirror, cursing through gritted teeth, “I told you this damn thing isn’t that easy to kill, damn it!”

“Wow, watch the road, don’t worry about it for now!”

Zhao Dezhu, without a seatbelt, nearly got thrown out as the car swayed.

Quickly, people saw Lu Yubo’s car rush back, and as Wu Lue and the others got off, he said, “We can be sure it’s interested in us but doesn’t dare approach. It’s wary of our strength, see? When it gets close enough, it stops advancing!”

Wu Lue pointed at the screen; the drone had lifted to several hundred meters, hovering for surveillance.

“That creature suffered heavily in a previous battle, surviving was already a miracle, it definitely left a psychological shadow!”

Zhao Dezhu sighed, returning the detonation remote to Duan Wuhu.

Duan Wuhu took the remote, saying worriedly, “Call it a zombie, but it clearly retains some level of intelligence and awareness, damn it, it doesn’t fall for traps and is as agile as a monkey, way too hard to kill!”

Facing such an enemy, everyone felt helpless, a sense of powerlessness.

“Uh, let me say something.”

Shen Linrui stroked his chin, “It didn’t go berserk despite several provocations, why not… just leave it?”

“Just leave it? Not deal with it?”

Zhao Dezhu exaggeratedly pointed in 004’s direction.

Shen Linrui nodded and said, “We don’t really know what it intends to do, but at least it hasn’t done anything against us, and most importantly… we can’t kill it.”

The last point was crucial, as aside from Hong the Fourth’s earlier suggestion of directly approaching 004, there seemed to be no other way!

It’s frustrating, but that’s reality—can’t outrun it, can’t defeat it, can’t kill it…
