Chapter 1887 - 1008: Clear Out the Surrounding Zombies! (Part 2)

Flames scattered in all directions.

Li Yu engaged the safety, picked up the sniper rifle, and returned it to the helicopter.

Together with Third Uncle, he approached Luo, who was inspecting the three helicopters.

Third Uncle recognized the helicopters; they were the same model as the one they were currently flying.

As they got closer, Third Uncle noticed that the condition of the helicopters was quite poor.

The rotors were fine, but the fuselage was dented and uneven.

"How’s it looking, Luo? Can we still use them?" Third Uncle asked as he walked over.

Luo stepped out of the helicopter upon hearing Third Uncle’s voice.

His expression was somewhat grim. He said to Li Yu and Third Uncle:

"The wings are mostly fine, but..."

"Follow me."

Third Uncle and Li Yu followed Luo curiously.

"Look here, there’s a hole in the fuselage side. I guess it might have been caused by the previous typhoon that blew the helicopter over, and stones might have hit the side."

Third Uncle examined the moderately sized hole and thought for a moment, then said, "It should be fine; we can weld it shut."

"It’s not just that." Luo frowned deeply and led Third Uncle and Li Yu inside the helicopter.

Once inside, Li Yu noticed a musty stench.

"The acid rain has corroded the engine, and most of the core circuits are ruined. I’ve checked the instruments inside; they’re basically useless.

If we want to repair it, it’s going to be very difficult. Time is one factor, but the engine issue and some instruments need replacement parts.

Moreover, the other two helicopters have the same problem," Luo explained.

Li Yu quickly asked, "Didn’t we have some spare parts before? Also, there are several helicopters here. Can’t we assemble one functioning helicopter?"

"Hard to say." Luo pondered for a few seconds before responding.

The atmosphere suddenly felt tense.

None of them wanted their trip here to be in vain.

Third Uncle pointed below, to the two helicopters parked on the concrete ground and said:

"Don’t worry; there are more below, and I think this type of flight base helicopter wouldn’t only be parked outdoors—this building has a height of ten meters, there might be more helicopters inside."

Hearing Third Uncle’s suggestion, Li Yu nodded and said to Luo, "No rush, Third Uncle’s right; let’s go down and take a look."

Luo felt somewhat melancholic, faced with severely damaged helicopters he couldn’t repair.

Li Yu saw his mood and patted him on the shoulder, saying, "Let’s first dismantle whatever still works from these helicopters. Even if there’s nothing below, it won’t be a wasted trip."

Hearing Li Yu, Luo nodded and said, "Alright."

Third Uncle approached Li Yu and said, "Are there zombies inside the building?"

He heard the sound of crashing from the iron door side, plus there were two people watching over there.

Li Yu nodded and said, "Yes, I guess the zombies inside are not nuclear-radiated zombies, just regular ones. Otherwise, with such commotion, these zombies would have come out, surely because the solar radiation outside is too strong."

Third Uncle contemplated for a moment then said, "Use the drone; fly down and check if there are helicopters inside. If there are, we must eliminate the zombies inside the building."

"Okay."

So Third Uncle asked Old Qin to take the drone from the helicopter and fly it down.

The drone hovered to the side of the building.

The windows on the building’s side were broken, and sunlight spilled to the edge.

Lighting up the interior of the building.

Through the drone’s video feed, they could see four helicopters parked on the ground floor.

"Fantastic!" Li Yu exclaimed excitedly at this scene.

Third Uncle also broke into a smile and said to Luo and Li Yu:

"Judging by the footage, these helicopters should all be intact; just unclear what’s inside."

"Right now, we need to figure out how to kill the zombies inside the building."

Li Yu nodded and said:

"We can, but with all the noise we made just now, zombies within a few kilometers might be attracted here. We need some people on the roof for lookout to prevent nuclear-radiation zombies from approaching."

Third Uncle also thought this was crucial, he said:

"Then, you’ll stay on the roof with Tianlong and the others for lookout. I’ll take Old Qin and others down to kill the zombies, then let Luo and the others come down to check these helicopters underneath."

Hearing Third Uncle take on the most dangerous task, Li Yu quickly said, "I’ll take people down instead; you guys are better shots, stay up for lookout."

Third Uncle chuckled at Li Yu’s eagerness and said, "No worries, the building is just a hundred meters from the woods, not much difference. I’ll take people down. That’s settled; besides, going down with too many people is inconvenient, just the old folks will suffice."

After finishing, Third Uncle shouted to Old Qin and the others:

"Old Qin, Ant, Jackals, prepare for battle; go down soon to deal with zombies."

Upon hearing Third Uncle, the few immediately responded, "Roger."

The three quickly straightened themselves up, forming a team.

They’re no longer young; even the youngest was already forty-two.

Yet standing in line, they exuded a spirit of hundreds.

Sharpness, indomitability, persistence.
