Apocalyptic Reincarnation: Start with a 30-million Bonus
Chapter 1893: Armed Helicopter Squadron, Formed! (Part 2)
“Great!” Second Uncle laughed after hearing Third Uncle’s accurate response.
“When will you guys be back?” Second Uncle asked.
Third Uncle pointed to Old Bi and the others outside who were transporting fuel, and answered Second Uncle:
“Second Brother, we definitely won’t be back tonight; it’ll probably be tomorrow. The main issue is the fuel. I estimate after this trip, we’ll have to come back once more to load more fuel so we can return.”
“Hmm, this trip has been quite smooth.” Second Uncle commented.
Third Uncle stretched lazily and said, “Indeed.”
As they were chatting, the fuel outside was almost fully loaded.
Third Uncle stood up and said to Second Uncle, “Second Brother, I’ll head out now.”
“Alright.”
The two of them walked out of the small lounge together.
Third Uncle got on the helicopter and checked the fuel behind the cabin. These fuels were tied securely with ropes to prevent them from rolling during flight and causing unforeseen disasters.
Each of these barrels weighs hundreds of pounds, and if they started rolling with inertia, it wouldn’t be a joke.
After tugging on the tied ropes and confirming there were no issues, Third Uncle then sat in the co-pilot seat and said to Old Qin in the pilot seat, “Let’s go.”
“Okay.” Old Qin picked up the walkie-talkie to contact Jackals and Ants in the other helicopter.
He inquired if they were ready.
After learning they were ready too, he controlled the helicopter to take off.
Sunset evening.
The solar radiation wasn’t as intense, but compared to ordinary sunlight, it was still extremely scorching.
They flew south along the coordinates on the electronic beacon.
An hour later.
The sky turned black.
Night descended.
Old Qin took off his helmet entirely and placed it beside him.
His forehead was soaked with sweat, and his hair was drenched.
During the day, the solar radiation was too strong, and they had to wear helmets, feeling suffocated.
Third Uncle opened the window slightly, letting the outside air flow in.
The high-altitude wind was strong, blowing the sweat on their heads dry quickly.
After just a few minutes, Third Uncle closed the window again.
Looking at Old Qin, he said, “The weather is getting crazier now, with zombies at night and intense solar radiation during the day. I would guess scattered survivors are having a really hard time.”
Old Qin replied, “Yeah, who knows when this solar radiation will pass. It’s supposed to be winter months, but it’s even hotter than a scorching summer.”
Third Uncle looked at the crescent moon in the sky, leaning back and quietly gazing at the serene night sky.
The two helicopters maintained a certain distance between them. It was hard to see ahead at night, so they kept a safe distance to avoid collision.
Another forty minutes passed.
They finally reached Dayong Town.
“Xiao Yu, Xiao Yu, we’re almost there!” Third Uncle contacted Li Yu.
Upon hearing the voice from the walkie-talkie, Li Yu quickly told the people sitting in the few wrecked helicopters, “They’re here, turn on the lights fast!”
They immediately ran out from the rooftop of the scrapped helicopters and brought out big lights to illuminate the rooftop.
From a few kilometers away, Third Uncle and Old Qin saw their lights.
Soon.
The helicopter arrived above the building.
Third Uncle looked down at the ground, seeing the building surrounded by glowing zombies, estimating over a hundred.
On closer inspection, he found not only these nuclear-radiated zombies but also hundreds of regular zombies.
But upon seeing Li Yu and others standing safely on the rooftop, he was relieved.
Fortunately, today they flew all of the building’s helicopters to the rooftop.
They all retreated to the rooftop, making it so zombies could only climb up one way.
That was through the iron stairwell door.
But when evening fell, and it became dark, Li Yu saw Luo and others disassembling the usable equipment from the cement-ground helicopters.
He promptly let them use an electric saw to cut off the steel stairs.
Which left the zombies below unable to climb up.
To be safe, Li Yu led the group to push a water tank against the iron door, completely blocking the zombies’ access.
As for resting, there was indeed room.
With the four usable helicopters on the rooftop and the scrapped ones, they could rest inside.
They didn’t want to keep wearing helmets nonstop. Wearing them all day had been suffocating enough. If they wore them when resting, they probably wouldn’t get a good night’s sleep.
Thereupon.
They used cloth strips and various other things to seal the helicopter windows; even if the sun came out in the morning, they wouldn’t have to worry about being exposed to the solar radiation on their skin while they slept.
Buzzing——
The helicopter descended slowly, and Old Qin, following Yang Tianlong’s instructions from the ground, parked at the designated spot.
With both helicopters landing, only the howls of zombies surrounding the buildings remained audible.
Fortunately, it wouldn’t rain these days, so zombies couldn’t stack on top of each other, nor climb up buildings over ten meters tall.
Thus, their stay here wasn’t too dangerous.
Li Yu sat inside the helicopter, using a small kerosene stove to cook food.
After a busy day, sitting down to eat a bit was some kind of comfort.
The night breeze softly blew, carrying a hint of a burnt smell in the air.
