Armed Train in the Apocalypse

Chapter 962: Doomsday Death Knell

  • Next Chapter

Deep within the Eternal Night.

The sky seemed to have split open a crack, with a shade of red imposed on the black, and the ground appeared a mix of dull yellow hues. In the middle lay a line of brightness, like a horizon with the sun yet to rise.

Mystical black flames mingled with the Eternal Night, silently surrounding the brightness as if painted onto it.

Occasionally, fierce beasts, ghostly apparitions, evil anomalies, and disarrayed entities dropped from that reversed crevice, unable to comprehend this world before being engulfed by flames, silently turning to ashes before they could emit any cries of dread.

Even the evil anomalies were worn down by the Destruction Rule within the flames.

In the center of the dark flames, a man in a green trench coat sat upon the ground, his black shirt long burned to tatters, exposing a half-bare chest marked with a fierce hand-shaped scar.

The black [Destruction] rule markings centered on the scar, like ferocious dragons, viciously biting the golden-red aura atop it. Yet that aura steadfastly clumped within the wound to resist the erosion of the [Destruction] rule.

Every clash caused blood to seep from the wound.

Suddenly, a prolonged horn sounded from the light, and the relentless beat of war drums approached from afar.

The killing intent of the military formation seemed almost tangible, piercing through the crevice, crashing straight against the man.

Auras no weaker than his arose on the opposing side.

Lin Jin lifted his eyelids, the black flames no longer enveloping the ground, instead clinging to his body like wildfires driven by wind, forming an unstable armor.

“A million soldiers, five Tier Four warriors, and one ready to break through to Tier Five; you can’t hold them off this time, you better prepare to retreat.”

The silhouette of Yu Yao appeared beside him, his expression solemn.

“They’re getting through?”

“They originally couldn’t…”

At this thought, Yu Yao’s expression darkened.

The spatial fissure should’ve lasted for decades, enduring their waves of depletion, yet Tier Four and Five, those who command rules, couldn’t get through.

But then that bastard Su Huan showed up and cracked it open in no time; Yu Yao diligently patched it for three years still couldn’t hold the breach.

Moreover, the opposing Tier Five wouldn’t give him the chance.

In this lifetime, it’s probably over once more.

Witnessing the injured Lin Jin standing up towards the fissure, Yu Yao hesitated, “What are you doing?”

“Obviously buying time.”

Yu Yao sighed, “But that’s an entire world; can you stall it, and what’s the point of stalling…”

“Just wait for the conductor to return.”

Lin Jin replied matter-of-factly.

“He…”

“He’ll come; at the most crucial moment, he’ll naturally arrive.”

Flames ascended, turning white from red, then black from extreme white, akin to divine fire connecting heaven and earth.

Lin Jin’s eyes burned bright, reflecting not the army of a million nor the giant hand crossing worlds, but rather the man standing atop the off-road vehicle, holding a sniper rifle, mouth slightly curved.

Yu Yao stared stunned at Lin Jin’s relentless figure, sighing with complexity.

“He has fooled you so many times already…”

Otherworldly experts were intercepted by Lin Jin, the mighty cavalry marched south.

Following the previously carved path of blood, they charged through wind and snow, breaking six defensive lines in twelve hours, aiming straight for the last command center of the military.

…

One hundred kilometers from the command center.

Thunderous sounds transmitted across the horizon to every trench, every fortification.

This place briming with metal and gunpowder, like a semi-subterranean city forged for war, enough to become a grinder noted in history amid any modern conflict.

Yet the warriors felt no joy, for this was their final battlefield.

Seeing the first cavalry coming meant the frontline had fallen, and they had become the lone army amid Eternal Night.

None despaired either; five years of prolonged night had devoured all—its glory, dignity, even themselves.

Battling had long become their instinct and sole purpose, akin to living.

Life or death no longer posed choices, nor were they fearsome decisions; they had no choice but to endlessly fight onward, unending, unresting.

They were no longer humans, but cogs in an enormous machine.

Devoid of their own thoughts and emotions.

The pride of being born human was devoured by this endless night and war.

Qin Mian could already see the cavalry standing before the formation clearly. Each warhorse armored in dark Zha Armor, with only blood-red nostrils exhaling white mist exposed. Dark blood oozed like muddy water dripping down, its fierce stench overwhelming even from kilometers away!

The riders upon the horses, like living iron statues, after three years of battle, Qin Mian almost never saw them exhibit normal human emotions.

The slaughter between both sides had little to do with hatred, merely necessity, hence the slaughter.

The Black Armored Cavalry stood at the edge of Donghuang’s effective range, with terrifying military formation aura condensing mid-air into a fierce beast with winged ribs, hovering uncertainly, occasionally roaring toward Donghuang’s position.

The intangible aura shrouded the entire battlefield, weighing down heavily on hearts.

This looming threat made Qin Mian furrow his brow.

He was no longer the rookie of the past and wasn’t intimidated by nervous tension, though the enemy’s cavalry numbers were indeed quite overwhelming.

“Commander, Battalion Commander Gang has sent someone to ask if we’re attacking?”

A messenger hurried over, lying beside him and whispering.

‘Goddamn Battalion Commander Gang!’
