Ascension Of The Blood Supreme
Chapter 221.Professor Vhorn.
The doors of the lecture hall swung open.
All eyes traced towards the entrance.
For a moment, the fourth-year students held their breath.
Then, someone entered.
He looked extremely normal. Brown hair, black eyes. Sneakers. Jeans. T-shirt. Hands in pockets.
If anyone met him on the streets, he’d look like your friendly neighbor.
But fortunately for the students in the combat practicum Lecture Hall, they had just seen his picture and feats on their phones thanks to Armstrong Lee’s announcement about him.
Aiden Vhorn. The Crimson Reaper.
Also known as the Lodgekeeper, a myth that had kicked up a storm in the Kahra Desert.
A madman whose feats in the southern continent had traveled throughout the four continents of Endra by now.
Although he looked just like he did in the videos and pictures, he looked strangely unfamiliar.
The videos of him performing large-scale massacres contrasted heavily with his casual appearance.
"It’s him!" The class monitor, one of the students who had encountered him on the ship, couldn’t help but be extremely shocked.
"To think he was a terrifying madman harboring another identity. And at the same time, he would turn out to be the disciple of Excellency Armstrong Lee," one of the gentlemen who badmouthed him on the ship said.
Aiden’s eyes turned crimson. Blobs of blood turned into crimson wings and appeared on his back.
He flew towards the podium in the center of the lecture hall under the gazes of the students.
When he stepped on the podium, the crimson wings turned into blobs of blood and disappeared into him.
His crimson eyes resumed their brown color.
"It’s really him," someone whispered after seeing the crimson wings.
"Quick, if we don’t stand up and greet him, he may kill us all in a fit of anger!"
Everyone stood up.
"Good morning, Professor!"
Aiden’s eyes scanned the hundreds of students.
"Good morning. There’s no need for such pleasantries," Aiden said. "Take your seats."
"Thank you, Professor."
The students sat down.
The place was silent.
None of the students dared to speak.
They looked at their new professor with looks of astonishment and shock.
Some of them were even older than him.
But all thoughts of prejudice had completely disappeared from their minds.
The man before them was the most terrifying young man of the younger generation on Endra at the moment.
"My name is Aiden Vhorn," Aiden said. "I will be your combat instructor for a while. When I’m on campus, I will have a lecture with you once a month. My lectures will be simple. Each time we have a lecture, you will demonstrate your techniques, and I will correct your flaws. Also, each of you will take on at least one high-level difficulty student mission every month."
The students listened to Professor Vhorn with rapt attention. At the mention of the high-level mission, they gasped.
Student and professorship missions were graded as normal, medium, high, and hell difficulty.
The higher the difficulty of the mission, the higher the contribution points attached to it, and the higher the fatality rate.
Was this professor asking them to go and die?
They were supposed to take at least one high-level difficulty student mission every month?
However, no one dared to voice out their concerns.
They were not stupid.
The man before them may look polite and ordinary. But he was not someone whose authority they could challenge.
"The reason for the high-level difficulty mission arrangement is simple. You are fourth-year students. Most of you are at least advanced Rank 2 warriors. It means that you will be graduating very soon, and you will enroll in the military. If you don’t familiarize yourself with life-and-death situations, you won’t even last a day in the military. Naturally, I personally don’t care about your safety. But as a professor, I need to at least be professional and do my job to the best of my ability," Professor Vhorn said with polite indifference, ignoring the dumbfounded expressions on the faces of the students. "If anyone thinks they are not willing to take this course, they should leave before we begin. Of course, leaving means you won’t return for the next class. How that will affect your graduation has nothing to do with me. Also, for my course, your contribution points at the end of the semester will be converted into scores to grade you. I won’t waste time on examinations or midterms. Any questions?"
The lecture hall was silent.
Each student was quiet. They were all trying to process the weight of his words.
This...
This professor was so unconventional.
This was not how their previous combat instructor, who had died during a beast tide in the city last semester, handled the combat course at all.
There were midterms and end-of-semester assessments.
Professor Vhorn’s methods were weirdly abnormal.
Also, he mentioned something about lecturing only once a month?
Who does that?
This man, was he not being too lazy to teach?
But on second thought, he was known to be a monstrous combatant and tactician; perhaps his methods would be effective?
Aiden naturally didn’t care about what the students were thinking. To him, they were fourth-year students who had had their fair share of combat instructors since year one.
What they needed now was practical lessons, lessons they would only learn on their own through high-difficulty missions.
Also... his main goal was to take on university missions and use the missions as opportunities to grow stronger. He didn’t see the need to waste his time on students.
Suddenly, a guy in glasses with a smug smile, an expert Rank 2 warrior, raised his hand.
It seemed he wanted to ask a question.
"Is Alfonse crazy?"
"What the hell?"
"Why is he trying to ask a question?"
"Is he not scared?"
"Just because he’s number one on the genius rankings doesn’t mean he should throw his weight around."
"This guy is very strong, but he’s very arrogant. He doesn’t read the room at all."
"I hope he’s taught a lesson soon."
"The only reason why he’s so powerful is because of his family’s resources. Tsk."
Whispers spread across the place.
"Yes... ask your question," Professor Vhorn gestured to him, his voice amplified through the lapel microphone.
Alfonse used his hand to adjust his glasses as he stood up.
He had heard some rumors about something that happened during the time the professor was on the ship with the students who went to the exchange event in the Drax Empire of the Southern Continent.
Apparently, some of the ladies hit on him and he rejected them.
His fiancée, Calerina, the student council president, was one of them. She even went to the point of hooking up with some of his friends!
Alfonse wanted to use this opportunity to humiliate her for disrespecting their relationship.
If he reminded the professor of what happened, he would definitely get angry and teach his fiancée a lesson.
"Professor, is it true that some female students hit on you some time back?"
The whole place was silent.
Everyone looked at Alfonse. Was this guy normal at all?
Everyone stared at Calerina.
She bit her lip. A glint of anger flashed through her eyes. She looked at her friends and the group she was on the ship with.
"Shit. These guys couldn’t keep their mouths shut. Now, this bastard wants to instigate the professor against me," she thought. "If the professor remembers what happened and thinks I acted disrespectfully at the time, won’t he fail me for this course?"
The other ladies who hit on the professor on the ship had similar thoughts.
As for the rest of the class, they figured out what was happening. Alfonse wanted to instigate the professor to get mad at Calerina.
If the professor remembered what happened and got angry, Calerina would definitely be blacklisted by Professor Vhorn.
Aiden looked at Alfonse calmly.
It seemed wherever one went, there would always be people who couldn’t read the room.
What happened next was something the students would never forget.
