Ascension Of The Blood Supreme

Chapter 222. Professor Vhorn doesn’t tolerate nonsense.

A blob of blood appeared before Aiden and transformed into a crimson blade.

The crimson blade shot towards Alfonse.

It appeared near his neck.

The students didn’t even see the trajectory of the attack. It was so fast that it looked as if Professor Vhorn’s attack had blinked out of existence and suddenly reappeared near his neck.

Everyone felt extreme fear wash over them. Professor Vhorn was indeed terrifying. His name preceded him.

Alfonse was sweating.

A feeling of extreme dread washed over him as he stared at Professor Vhorn, calmly standing on the podium with crimson eyes.

"What have you learnt from what just happened, Mr. Alfonse?" Professor Vhorn spoke politely.

For some reason, his polite words sounded very terrifying, not just to Alfonse, but to everyone in the lecture hall.

"Shit, shit, shit! Things didn’t go as planned. Why did I let my feelings for Calerina get the better of me? My arrogance will really be my downfall. The professor has realized I am trying to use him to punish her." Alfonse’s heart beat wildly in fear as a chill crawled up his spine. "If he wanted me dead, I’d be dead by now."

He looked at Professor Vhorn with fear and reverence.

"I should never overestimate my abilities, sir," Alfonse said. His voice was full of fear.

Professor Vhorn looked at him politely and nodded.

"That’s true. But that’s not what I was aiming at. Always read the room before you act. Understanding your environment is the first step towards survival on the battlefield. This is a place for a combat course. It is not a place to solve your relationship issues. Understand?"

Alfonse nodded weakly; his legs were trembling.

"Thank you for the lesson, sir. Thank you for showing mercy," he replied as he performed a waist-length bow several times.

"Stop it... that’s cringe," Professor Vhorn replied.

The crimson blade near Alfonse’s neck returned to him, turned into a blob of blood, and returned into him.

His eyes returned to their black color.

"Yes, Professor," Alfonse replied.

"You can have your seat," Professor Vhorn said.

Alfonse sat down like a lamb, still sweating buckets.

The students looked at Alfonse with expressions of shock and gratification on their faces.

This guy always got special treatment from most of the professors because he was the top-ranked student on campus. However, he had received a reality check today.

Professor Vhorn didn’t give a crap about things like that. If you misbehaved in his class, he’d put you in check.

He didn’t tolerate nonsense.

As for Calerina, she sighed in relief. Fortunately, Professor Vhorn was not even bothered to be concerned with them. He was on another level.

He didn’t care about what happened between students, or the fact that she and her friends hit on him on the ship. He didn’t deem it worth his time to be bothered about such nonsense.

He had also seen through Alfonse’s attempt to use him to punish her, but he was too unbothered by petty squabbles like that to care about what Alfonse did. Instead, what he did was use Alfonse to teach a lesson about combat—situational and environmental awareness.

Everyone else in the class had come to similar realizations.

They made mental notes of the lesson the professor had just given them. Also, they made mental notes to never cause a ruckus in his class.

"Alright. Let’s start with the class. Come down and divide yourselves into groups, and start practicing. Don’t equip your battlesuits and don’t use your affinities. Just use your weapons."

The moment he spoke, the students came down from the bleachers.

They divided themselves into different groups and started fighting each other, demonstrating their movement techniques and combat skills.

Different weapons ranging from daggers, swords, rapiers, lances, hammers, and staffs, among others, clashed into each other.

Aiden observed everything happening.

He left the podium and started walking through them, correcting movements and flaws in techniques.

"You, kindly adjust your posture."

"Yes, sir."

"You, kindly pay attention to your center of gravity."

"Noted, sir."

"You hesitate too much. On the battlefield, a second of hesitation can get you killed."

"Duly noted, Professor."

"You, what affinity do you use?"

"Wind, sir."

"How about you try to learn how to use daggers in addition to the sword? Your current movement technique is elusive. It lets you move like a shadow. Using a sword alone is limiting your potential. Either you change your movement technique into one that fits your current weapon style, or you learn how to use daggers in addition to the sword."

"Yes, sir."

"The lady over there, your concentration and battlefield instincts are dull. Your skills are superb, but your reaction to attacks and counterattacks are lacking. Apart from missions, spend more time in the virtual reality tower and the danger zone to hone your combat instincts and experience."

"Thank you, sir."

"Don’t swing the hammer like that. Adjust the angle of your hand."

"Noted, Professor."

"That guy over there, don’t attempt to use a rapier because it makes your attacks cool and flashy. Your attacks seem flashy, but ineffective. What affinity do you have?"

"Fire affinity, sir."

"I see. I suggest you try to use a staff. Try and learn staff techniques and start practicing with a staff from now on. Your build does not support the use of a rapier."

"Thank you, sir."

"You are panting after just two minutes of a combat drill? You need to work on your stamina. In case you are on the battlefield and you are out of a worldly energy recovery elixir, what will you do? Spend more time performing endurance exercises."

"Yes, sir."

As Professor Vhorn moved through them, noticed their flaws, corrected them, and made suggestions that could help them become better in combat, the students could not help but be awed at his level of combat experience and prowess.

This man was really built differently. Was the term genius even enough to describe him?

Was he really 20 years old?

He was spotting and correcting flaws even their previous combat instructors, who had been veteran warriors for a long time, had failed to notice.

For those who could start making adjustments to their combat methods right there and then, they realized that certain aspects of their combat ability, which they previously felt were lacking, started to improve!

Professor Vhorn was a monster.
