Webb transmitted a collection of files and a video across the private channel as he spoke. Kael opened the media with an expression of profound indifference.

The footage displayed a row of individuals facing a firing squad, followed by clinical interrogation transcripts.

Whether those executions were genuine or merely theatrical pageantry held zero weight for him either way.

Confessions extracted under pressure, bodies produced on a convenient timeline: scapegoats were easily manufactured when the goal was simply making a problem go away.

The true architect behind the leak could easily still be breathing somewhere, filed under a different name entirely.

What actually commanded his attention was the gesture itself, and the timing attached to it.

Why now? Why not an hour ago, before any of tonight happened?

The answer wasn’t hard to work out. He had just used Ebonreach to single-handedly stall a hundred-thousand-strong official army, then calmly wiped out the four specialist cells built at considerable expense specifically to bring him down, dismantled with about as much resistance as clearing out vermin.

That clinical demonstration of power communicated what vague threats and insinuation never quite managed.

No amount of money or training could produce a second version of what he had just shown them.

Furthermore, a guild headquarters capable of vanishing into a cloaked, untraceable floating fortress meant that every normal avenue of leverage, whether surveillance, pressure, or quiet elimination, had already failed completely before it started.

Push him further, and the fallout fell entirely on their side of the ledger. Measured purely in resources and reach inside this game, he had out-leveraged them.

A god they couldn’t afford to provoke, whether they liked the arrangement or not.

None of this surprised him. He had expected exactly this outcome from the moment the night’s fighting started.

Real stability only ever comes from strength you’ve already proven. Everything built on someone else’s goodwill dissolves the moment that goodwill runs out.

As for the handful inside their structure who genuinely wished him harm, they understood only one language: consequences severe enough to make the next attempt feel like a mistake before it even started.

Whatever came of tonight, he expected real quiet for a good while afterward.

A full return to open cooperation, however, was off the table. These particular people had not learned a lesson about being wrong, only that continuing the fight cost more than it was worth right now.

Given a safer opening later, nothing stopped the same instincts from resurfacing.

Burn me once, and I don’t hand you the chance to do it twice.

A lifetime already lived had taught him exactly how far trust could rot once it cracked. You didn’t raise the same tiger back to strength after it had already shown its teeth.

He shook his head, his tone flat, final, and absolute.

"Spilled water doesn’t go back in the cup. Executing the people behind it settles the matter. I won’t push further."

"But don’t mistake that for renewed cooperation. I prefer working alone. Easier that way than risking stepping on the wrong toes again down the line."

Webb and Doyle’s expressions fell in unison, hardening into matching masks of frustration.

Before either could get a word out to argue the point, Kael turned his back on them and strode off alongside Alexis, leaving the two of them standing there in the churned mud, exchanging a helpless glance.

"Unbelievable," Doyle muttered, kicking a loose stone hard enough to send it skittering into the dark. "What exactly goes through the heads of the people running this show?"

"Bored enough to provoke him for no reason, and now they want to smooth it over like nothing happened.

Absolute morons. Do they think the whole operation revolves around their comfort?"

"If I were him, I’d have cut ties permanently."

"Casey!" Webb hissed, his head snapping around to scan the area on reflex.

Before he could finish the warning, a deep horn bellowed from behind the distant hills, and a heavy rumble of hooves rolled in close behind it. War drums followed from Northvale’s own rear lines a moment later, hundreds of thousands of soldiers surging forward on the beat, battle cries rolling across the open plain like a tidal wave.

A regional announcement rang out overhead.

Regional Announcement: Attention all participants in the Silverflow Campaign the final phase has begun.

Every confirmed kill earns event points. Rewards will be tallied once the event concludes.

Kael’s focus snapped instantly to the alert, his business with Alexis cut short without ceremony. He drew his blade and charged into the open field, chasing points without a second thought.

Both sides had committed roughly matching total forces: hundreds of thousands of NPC legion troops, backed by millions of participating players each.

The real gap sat elsewhere. Northvale held the northern frontier against the Hollow Legion’s constant pressure, its army tempered by genuine, repeated war.

Westfall’s forces, by contrast, carried none of that seasoning. For plenty of their soldiers, tonight marked the first real battle they had ever stood in.

Player numbers carried their own imbalance. Kael’s roster alone, backed by Ebonreach’s standing garrison, outweighed what most player armies could field by a wide margin.

Through the night, he carved a solitary, unstoppable path through Westfall’s player ranks without pause, cutting down anyone unlucky enough to see the name Unrivaled attached to the blade coming for them.

The fighting ran until dawn before finally breaking. Hundreds of thousands of Westfall soldiers lay scattered and routed, the entire campaign ending in a clean, decisive victory for Northvale.

As the first light crested the ruined battlefield the next morning, a final announcement rolled out across the sky.

[City-Wide Announcement: After a night of fierce fighting, the Silverflow Campaign has ended in victory for the Kingdom of Northvale. All Northvale participants receive +20% event rewards; all Westfall participants receive -20%.]

[City-Wide Announcement: Congratulations to player Unrivaled for an outstanding performance this event 630,000 event points earned, MVP title awarded. Rewards: Luck +3, Reputation +2000, and the Galewalker Boots (Legendary).]
