Back to the 1980s: Becoming the Villain's Lucky Wife
Chapter 757: The Hard Work is Worth It
“Go on, Brother Ji.”
“Well, what kind of man does Xiao Yue like?”
Qin Jiao blinked, noticing the tips of Ji Changxing’s ears turning slightly red. He seemed a little uncomfortable, his hands tightening on the steering wheel.
It dawned on Qin Jiao. “Brother Ji, you like Xiao Yue?”
“I am quite a bit older than her. After all, I’m in my mid-thirties. Over the past few years, people have tried to set me up, but no one ever caught my eye. It’s just… I think Xiao Yue is a great girl.”
Ji Changxing was indeed on the older side. When Qin Jiao and Shen Yi went to learn martial arts from him, he was already approaching thirty.
Now he was over thirty, which made him six or seven years older than Jiang Xiaoyue.
However, both Shen Yi and Qin Jiao agreed that Ji Changxing was a man of excellent character; otherwise, they wouldn’t have entrusted their security matters to him with such confidence.
Qin Jiao smiled and said, “I’ll help you feel her out later and see what her type is.”
“Hey, just don’t be direct about it. I’m afraid she might not be happy, and then we couldn’t even be friends anymore.”
At the mention of Jiang Xiaoyue, the usually gruff man suddenly became shy. Qin Jiao couldn’t help but chuckle.
‘Ah, love… it really is a magical thing.’
Ji Changxing drove Qin Jiao home safely before leaving. When Qin Jiao got home, she suddenly remembered something. Aunt Jiang was dating her third uncle, Qin Jiqun. He was only thirty-nine, just four or five years older than Ji Changxing.
‘Sigh… but then again, maybe Jiang Xiaoyue just isn’t into his type,’ she thought. ‘I remember her saying she has no plans to date for the next five years.’
In the end, Qin Jiao sighed. ‘Looks like everyone’s growing up and starting to settle down.’
Back home, Qin Jiao watched as Little Zijin came over to get her slippers for her. She reached out and stroked her son’s hair.
“Thank you, Zijin. Where are Xiao You and the others?”
“Xiao You and Guduo are still next door at Grandma’s. I saw that Great-Grandpa was too tired, so after dinner, I came back early with him. He’s probably already asleep now.”
When people get older, they tend to sleep early.
It was only a little past eight, but Mr. Du had already gone to rest.
Qin Jiao called her mother, and a short while later, Su Yun and Qin Zhonghui brought the two children back.
Xiao You was already so sleepy she had fallen asleep. Su Yun, worried she would get cold, had bundled her up tightly.
Little Gu Duo was doing better; she even knew to help Xiao You change into her pajamas.
Qin Jiao said apologetically, “Mom, Dad, we’ve had to trouble you so much lately. We’ve all been so busy.”
“Silly girl, what are you saying? I can’t help you with much else, so being able to watch the children for you already makes me very happy. But you and Xiao Yi, don’t work yourselves too hard. You’re still young, but your health is more important than anything.”
“Mm-hmm.”
Listening to her mother’s earnest advice, Qin Jiao felt a warmth spread through her heart.
‘Isn’t this why I’ve worked so hard all this time? To give my family a good life?’
‘And to create a good environment for my children to grow up in.’
‘It’s exhausting, truly.’
‘But it’s also worth it.’
**
After getting off the plane, Qin Xiaolan saw a man wearing a sporty down jacket.
The man was very tall and had slightly dark skin, but his eyes were bright, and his smile was infectious.
“My name is Xu Zhi, Gu Xu’s buddy. You must be Qin Xiaolan.”
Although he was a stranger, and a burly one at that, his smile was infectious. He grinned, revealing a set of bright white teeth.
Even though Qin Xiaolan was in low spirits, seeing him like this cheered her up a little.
She said, “Hello, I’m Qin Xiaolan. I’m sorry to trouble you.”
“No trouble, no trouble at all. Gu Xu and I are great friends.”
