Back to the 70s: My Childhood Sweetheart Spoils Me Rotten
Chapter 1465 - 1467
Gong Ruini hurriedly went to the kitchen to prepare juice, and then took out the frozen foods from the fridge.
"Isn’t it a bit informal?" Even though there was a lot to eat, they were all frozen foods.
Gong Ruini felt anxious just looking at it, even though Zhao Xuran and the others hadn’t said why Zhan Jing came to the United States.
But traveling to the US for such a long time at this busy year-end, could there be another reason besides her connection?
Gong Ruini was truly embarrassed for all sorts of reasons, given her situation was good, though she was a bit worried, she would strive to adjust.
There really was no need to trouble Zhan Jing with this visit, was there?
Gong Ruini suddenly recalled the previous health check-up, when the doctor had an odd expression at one moment.
Plus, she had always been told she was expecting one child, but how did it end up becoming two?
Before, Gong Ruini was caught up in the joy of completing two tasks at once and really didn’t think much of it.
But for Zhan Jing to fly here in such a short time, could it be related to the last check-up or knowing they’re twins?
Expecting one child versus two presents different circumstances, but Zhan Jing, having also delivered twins, could simply share her experiences over the phone with Gong Ruini.
Thinking about it, Gong Ruini suddenly realized she hadn’t heard Zhan Jing share those experiences with her.
Zhao Xuran had just taught Zhao Guangran a lesson for his antics and turned to find his wife busy in the kitchen, quite startled.
"Why are you in the kitchen? I’ve told you not to go in there."
Though his wife wasn’t a careless person and wouldn’t slip in the kitchen, Zhao Xuran was just not comfortable.
Especially now as the baby showed signs of movement, with the bustle akin to a chaotic performance.
Zhao Xuran really didn’t dare to leave his wife busy in the kitchen, fearing if she got an unexpected movement from their son while wielding a knife.
Looking at Zhao Xuran bursting in, forbidding her from doing work, Gong Ruini felt truly helpless.
"I’m really not that weak," Gong Ruini reiterated.
"I know, I know," Zhao Xuran said unconvincingly, "You go sit down; I’ll handle this."
The wife must not work, she really isn’t in an easy situation now.
"But you’re alone?" Gong Ruini felt unwilling for her husband.
Going to the airport to pick someone up early in the morning, then coming home to various duties, surely exhausting?
Alone? How could he possibly be alone? Zhao Xuran dared not leave Zhao Guangran in a room with Gong Ruini, especially not knowing what foolish thing he’d do.
Not trusting, Zhao Xuran would unceremoniously ask, "Guangran, come help with the work."
What, let him do the work? Who is he, the new financial prodigy from Wall Street? In Japan, where he had made a killing, how could he be doing chores?
Zhao Guangran is full of disdain and unwillingness to work.
Clearly, there is Gong Jiaming and Gong Ruzhi at home, why not let them do the work?
"Quickly."
"Or I’ll tell Mom," Zhao Xuran threatened unceremoniously.
Ahhhh, not like this, Zhao Guangran felt that rage inside, "Brother, what’s this? Isn’t it like being a kid?"
Gifting him a mocking glance, "What’s the difference between you and a three-year-old?"
Mocking him? Zhao Xuran pretended not to hear his insinuations, "If you’re bad, why wouldn’t I say it?"
"No matter how old we are, in the eyes of our parents, we’re just children."
"And surely you want the younger brothers to do the work?" Zhao Xuran poked his head out of the kitchen, staring at Zhao Guangran.
Zhao Guangran chickened out, not daring not to work, "Lucky you, being the younger brother-in-law is happiness."
"Why don’t I have a sister?" Humph, they all say having a brother brings happiness, but having a sister is even better.
At least, with a brother-in-law, one should be ready to flatter him.
Gong Jiaming and others initially felt quite embarrassed hearing Zhao Guangran complain, but now, truly calm, they kept doing their own things.
Oh dear, the younger brothers learned the mischievous ways, but before if he complained a bit, they really felt all sorts of embarrassed.
Now looking at them, really all sorts of straightforward and unapologetic.
Zhao Xuran directly ignored Zhao Guangran’s continued nagging as he entered the kitchen.
The more attention he gives, the more Zhao Guangran will go wild.
Without any response, Zhao Guangran could only concentrate on working.
Zhan Jing soaked in a bath for a bit, feeling her whole body relax, then got dressed and went upstairs to find Gong Ruini.
"Mom." Gong Ruini, knowing of Zhan Jing’s arrival, waited by the door, unwilling to go to the airport, but determined to greet her at the door.
Upon seeing Zhan Jing’s figure, Gong Ruini quickly called out.
Zhan Jing, seeing Gong Ruini’s belly, despite knowing beforehand she was expecting twins, was quite startled.
If it were two normal-sized children, though the belly was bigger, ensuring nutrition for it being larger is normal, but one child being big and the other small, this made the belly seem a bit too large.
Zhan Jing didn’t dare let her daughter-in-law stand at the door too long, gently pulling Gong Ruini toward the living room.
Zhan Jing had too many questions but didn’t know how to ask them.
"Mom, I’m in good shape." Just because Zhan Jing didn’t ask didn’t mean she was unconcerned.
Traveling this far on a plane, she had to know these things.
Zhan Jing patiently listened on the side, occasionally asking a few questions. She was quite tense earlier, worrying a lot about Ni Zi’s mood.
Finding out her mood was great, she immediately felt relieved. The situation hadn’t reached the worst point, at least morale was good.
Zhan Jing went over all the questions but couldn’t bring herself to ask if she could feel her pulse.
Seems there are issues, the questions Zhan Jing asked sounded normal, yet her expression remained slightly peculiar.
To have concerns probably meant worrying about her health, fearing she is being kept in the dark?
Gong Ruini didn’t feel there were significant issues, just wanting to know about her physical condition.
"Mom, help me feel my pulse." Compared to Western medicine, Gong Ruini had confidence in someone she’d grown up with handling her health issues.
Even though Zhan Jing might keep some things from her, at least she would carefully consider treatment plans.
It wasn’t that the current obstetrician skills were lacking, but she felt they weren’t as attentive, perhaps a subjective thinking of Gong Ruini herself.
"No problem." Zhan Jing stood up calmly, intending to support Gong Ruini to the bedroom.
Only in the privacy of a bedroom could they talk openly.
Gong Ruini wouldn’t dare let Zhan Jing assist her, feeling she hadn’t reached the point of needing help.
"I’m fine," Gong Ruini avoided Zhan Jing’s support.
Previously, Zhan Jing wouldn’t see it as a problem, but given the current situation, attention was needed.
Unaware her evasion of Zhan Jing’s help would lead to so much consideration.
Standing up, Gong Ruini shifted to hooking her arm around Zhan Jing toward the bedroom, showing intimacy and relieving Zhan Jing’s earlier concerns.
