Mu Xiaoyao watched Baili Xia for a while before nodding, “Yes.”

Everyone had their doubts about Sima Liuyue’s incident, although the Sima Family claimed it was just an accident.

However, with Sima Liuyue’s skills, how could she be trapped by a fire in a little wooden house?

But, this was the private affair of the Sima Family, and there was no necessity; they would not probe into it either.

He was just worried that this girl would believe the idle gossip outside.

“A person like Sima Liuyue would never commit suicide just because she couldn’t accept defeat, understand?” In the end, he added a few more sentences.

Baili Xia was stunned for half a second before she suddenly realized, Brother…

he was comforting her.

Although he really wasn’t good at comforting people, he was firmly conveying that message to her.

Sima Liuyue’s death had nothing to do with her; there was no need to think too much.

Baili Xia looked at him for a moment, then her thin lips curved up, and she smiled faintly.

After smiling, even the somber mood seemed to improve inexplicably.

In fact, Brother was really good to her, and she still remembered how yesterday, when Uncle flew into a rage, he was the first to stand up and say the child was his.

When Uncle furiously smashed things, he was also the first to stand in front of her, shielding her with his body.

Jin was good to her because Jin and she once had a history together.

No matter what Jin felt about her now, at least they had been good to each other in the past.

What about Brother?

Why was Brother good to her?

He didn’t like her, and they had not shared that so-called past.

Was he good to her just because she was from the Mu family?

“Why are you looking at me like that?”

Mu Xiaoyao felt somewhat uncomfortable under her gaze, because her eyes were so strange, it always gave him the feeling of being completely exposed.

“Nothing.” Baili Xia withdrew her gaze and then raised her eyes to look at the sky, “It seems to be getting late.”

Mu Xiaoyao checked his wristwatch, 11:40, lunchtime.

He looked at Baili Xia, “Let’s go eat first.”

The two went to the dining hall without speaking much along the way.

With Mu Xiaoyao walking by her side, no matter where they went, these two figures were always the center of attention for others.

The focus was always on them, impossible to shake off, unless she got rid of Brother.

After getting some food from the cafeteria, Mu Xiaoyao asked Baili Xia to sit down.

During the meal, even he didn’t know why, but he fussily picked countless dishes for her.

By the time Baili Xia protested and Mu Xiaoyao realized what he was doing, her bowl was already piled up like a small mountain.

“How can I eat like this?” Baili Xia glanced at him.

Mu Xiaoyao was slightly startled, his gaze unconsciously drifting towards her stomach.

She was sitting beside him, with the table blocking her belly, completely obscuring his view.

Yet, even if he could see it, given her pregnancy of only about a month, it wouldn’t really show anything.

But his look made Baili Xia understand, he was worried she wouldn’t eat well, and even the baby in her belly would go hungry.

Brother was concerned about the baby in her stomach; she unconsciously placed her hand on her belly, feeling an indescribable mixture of emotions.

Sour, yet with a touch of warmth.

“If one day, Uncle insists on me getting rid of it, and I would rather die than comply, what would Brother do?”

She picked up her chopsticks and looked at the dishes in front of her, wondering why she would say it without thinking.

Mu Xiaoyao’s hand holding his chopsticks suddenly tensed up.

Looking at her, his attractive thin lips moved, but he said nothing.
