Be Gentle, My Master
Chapter 1018
“Brother,” all of a sudden, Baili Xia stopped and turned her head to look at Mu Xiaoyao, her gaze indescribably serious.
Mu Xiaoyao was somewhat unsettled by her look, an indescribable unease.
He didn’t know where this unease came from, as if he feared she would speak, as if her words would put him in a difficult position.
But, Baili Xia eventually did speak, “I need to go back with Jin.
I will stay at the Dongfang Family’s house first.”
Seeing his brows furrow slightly, she immediately pleaded, “Brother, I beg you, don’t stop me.
Pretend you never saw me today.”
“Uncle he…”
“Whatever happens to Uncle, can we talk about it later?” Baili Xia stared intently at his stern face, her own full of pleading.
“You know Uncle doesn’t like the child in my belly, you know that going back with you is a dead end for me.”
“Can you guarantee that he will definitely keep my child? Can you?”
Mu Xiaoyao’s large palms, inserted in his pockets, tightened slightly, his gaze fixed on her face, yet he couldn’t utter a word.
Could he guarantee it?
No!
He couldn’t guarantee.
If the child truly wasn’t Uncle’s, perhaps Uncle might really…
Suddenly, he averted his gaze and looked up at the sky, his expression indescribably complex, his heart filled with mixed emotions.
He didn’t want to think of Uncle as such a heartless person, but his actions had always been so, iron-fisted and resolute, never engaging in things that were to his disadvantage.
Perhaps Baili Xia was an accident, but, just an accident.
With Uncle’s way of doing things, how could he possibly keep the child in her belly?
“Brother, you know very well, even if he wanted to keep me, he would never keep my child.”
Baili Xia walked over to him, grasped his sleeve, and gently bit her lower lip.
“Although I’m not a true member of the Mu family, we at least lived under the same roof for a while, we’re friends, right?”
Mu Xiaoyao said nothing, still looking at the sky, he knew that once she spoke, he would be in a difficult position.
But his difficulty, wasn’t it because he cared about her as a member of the Mu family?
“Brother, I implore you, spare me this once, pretend you didn’t see me today.”
“Jin will come to pick me up shortly, I have to go back with him, I don’t want my child to die at Uncle’s hands.”
This was giving herself a chance, and Uncle a chance too.
If Uncle really harmed her child, she would never forgive him in this life, the next life, forever and ever.
Maybe, in her subconscious, she still harbored a bit of hope for Uncle, not wanting to be eternal enemies with him.
If Uncle really harmed the child, would there be any room to turn things around in the future?
“Brother.” The fingers clutching his sleeve were turning white at the knuckles, her complexion growing increasingly pale.
Her pleading eyes remained locked on his face.
“Where… is he meeting you? I’ll take you there,” Mu Xiaoyao finally spoke.
His indifferent words, as if devoid of any emotion, made Baili Xia instantly breathe a sigh of relief.
She took a deep breath, let go of his sleeve, looked at him, and smiled.
“There’s no need for you to drop me off.
There won’t be any problems at the school, and besides, I’ve had some training, ordinary people can’t hurt me.”
Mu Xiaoyao remained silent, and Baili Xia continued to smile, “I don’t want to drag you into this mess.
Just pretend you don’t know about it, pretend that today at school, you didn’t find me, okay?”
Mu Xiaoyao looked at her, wanting to say something yet stopped himself.
But Baili Xia still took the lead, “Okay? Please!”
