Wen Yu pushed the man, bringing the wheelchair to a halt slightly ahead and to the side of Mu Xiaojiu.

Although seated in a wheelchair, the man’s charm was still unmistakable.

The contours of his face bore some resemblance to Mu Xiaojiu, equally remarkable and distinguished.

However, possibly due to the long periods spent in the wheelchair, his complexion appeared slightly pale, as if lacking in exercise.

Mu Xuri watched Mu Xiaojiu, who remained kneeling on the ground, something fleeting in his gaze.

“Do you understand your mistake now?”

Mu Xiaojiu did not speak, her eyes still fixed on the spirit tablet set up in front of her.

Seeing her like this, anger surged in Mu Xuri’s heart.

He hadn’t expected that even after kneeling for two days and nights, there would be not the slightest awakening.

His voice unconsciously rose as Mu Xuri sharply rebuked.

“Do you even remember how Baili Yang caused your father’s death? And now, you’ve actually fallen for his granddaughter!”

Mu Xiaojiu turned to look at the increasingly agitated Mu Xuri, swallowing with some effort to moisten her throat.

After a few seconds, she slowly said, “That’s all in the past, whatever Baili Yang did, it has nothing to do with Xiaxia.”

“Nonsense!” Mu Xuri slammed his hand on the armrest of the wheelchair.

If he weren’t confined to the wheelchair, he would surely walk over and give Mu Xiaojiu a hard slap to wake up this unworthy descendant of the Mu family.

“How majestic your father was back then, commanding respect.

If not for Baili Yang, he would be living well now!”

“Even your mother wouldn’t have died; all of this is thanks to Baili Yang, and you’ve forgotten it all!”

“I haven’t forgotten!” Mu Xiaojiu suddenly interrupted Mu Xuri’s words loudly.

This hatred would not be forgotten; it was precisely this intense desire for revenge that made her silently bear everything.

It was just not the right time yet, the plan for revenge was not yet complete.

After a brief pause, Mu Xiaojiu challenged, “This has nothing to do with Xiaxia, why target her?”

Confronted with Mu Xiaojiu’s question, it clearly touched a nerve in Mu Xuri.

He excitedly picked up the cane fixed to the side of the wheelchair and swung it hard at Mu Xiaojiu.

The cane made of fine steel struck Mu Xiaojiu’s arms and back with a heavy, muffled sound.

“Xuri…” Wen Yu wanted to step forward to stop it, but she could not and dared not.

So all she could do was stand by and watch, as Mu Xuri struck Mu Xiaojiu with the cane, blow after blow.

Wen Yu’s heart felt as though it would split open with pain, she knew the extent of it well.

Yet that man remained kneeling there, motionless even as the forceful cane repeatedly hit him.

This was because he knew that if he moved, the man in the wheelchair would only get angrier.

Mu Xuri hit him thirty or forty times, tearing the clothes on Mu Xiaojiu’s arms and back to shreds.

Through the torn fabric, one could see the fresh red marks on the skin, and a crimson trickle of blood seeped from the corners of his mouth.

Suddenly, Mu Xiaojiu coughed lightly, spitting out a mouthful of fresh blood.

Finally, Wen Yu could not stand it anymore.

She briskly walked over to Mu Xuri’s side, crouching down, gripping the arm that held the cane tightly with her hand.

“Xuri, stop hitting him, stop! If you continue, Jiu will be severely injured, you’ll kill him!”

No matter how angry, one couldn’t keep hammering away so recklessly.

Jiu was tough, but no matter how tough, he was still flesh and blood.

He could get hurt, and he could also be severely injured to the point of death!
