His arm was restrained, preventing Mu Xuri from wielding his cane any further, so he had no choice but to lower his arm.

Looking at Wen Yu, his facial expression changed slightly, but he didn’t speak.

Seeing Mu Xuri stop his actions of hitting Mu Xiaojiu, Wen Yu hurriedly stood up.

Like a child who has made a mistake, she stepped back a few steps, standing far behind Mu Xuri.

Mu Xuri ignored her, lowering his gaze to look at Mu Xiaojiu kneeling in front of him.

Mu Xiaojiu was as ever, showing no sign of compromise.

The determination in his eyes did not falter; rather, it grew stronger.

“If you continue this way, I will definitely kill Baili Xia.”

The cold voice of Mu Xuri sounded, in that moment, he couldn’t tolerate Mu Xiaojiu’s attitude.

He had changed, he had become less obedient and started to question himself.

Hearing Mu Xuri’s threat, Mu Xiaojiu’s fists clenched unconsciously, his gaze meeting Mu Xuri’s threatening eyes.

If it were anyone else who dared to threaten him using Baili Xia, he wouldn’t hesitate for a second, and would definitely end them himself!

But this was his brother, the brother he had respected immensely since childhood.

No matter what his brother asked him to do, he would never rebut.

Many thoughts ran through his mind.

Suddenly, Mu Xiaojiu said, “What if, Baili Xia isn’t Baili Yang’s granddaughter?”

Mu Xuri was slightly stunned, falling into a brief contemplation.

Quickly gathering his thoughts, he looked at Mu Xiaojiu and firmly said, “Even if she isn’t Baili Yang’s daughter, I will not let her become your weakness.”

Brother was right, and Mu Xiaojiu was always very clear about it.

Once there are attachments, they become targets for others to attack.

Having weaknesses makes one easily controlled, easily defeated.

But can emotions really be controlled so easily, to be discarded just by saying it?

“Sigh…”

A sigh brought Mu Xiaojiu back to reality as he looked at Mu Xuri.

Suddenly, his brother became that gentle again.

Mu Xuri glanced at the blood trace on Mu Xiaojiu’s lips and then looked back, signaling Wen Yu to come over.

“Take him to clean up first, then take him to eat.”

After he finished speaking, he placed his hands on either side of the wheelchair, steering the wheelchair away.

“Brother…”

Mu Xiaojiu looked in the direction Mu Xuri was leaving.

He had many things to say but didn’t know how to start.

He understood all the reasons, but he didn’t want to compromise just like that.

Facing his most respected brother, thinking of his beloved girl, what is the right thing to do?

Wen Yu watched Mu Xuri walk away then hurried forward, extending her hand to help Mu Xiaojiu up.

Mu Xiaojiu didn’t wait for her to get close and stood up on his own.

Having knelt for so long, his body indeed had become a lot stiffer.

After standing, Mu Xiaojiu moved his hands and feet a bit and then said, “Let’s go.”

Wen Yu didn’t move, observing the blood trace hanging from the corner of Mu Xiaojiu’s lips.

She took out a packet of tissues from her pocket, slowly pulled out one, and unfold it, attempting to wipe Mu Xiaojiu’s lip corner.

Her hand hadn’t touched Mu Xiaojiu when he stopped her.

Mu Xiaojiu took the tissue himself, wiped his mouth a few times, then threw the tissue into the trash.

“Let’s go,” he said again.

Even though his face was pale and his legs were slightly trembling, he still stood very straight, not even frowning.

Filled with an iron resolve, yet bound to endure more hardship, because even Wen Yu could see, in this matter, Jiu…

will never compromise.
