At the entrance of the hall, Feng Gang stood there, standing straight, clearly waiting for someone.

Seeing Baili Xia and Mu Xiaoyao return together, his eyes flickered, but he said nothing more.

He simply told the two, “The old master asks you to wait in the hall.”

Baili Xia and Mu Xiaoyao exchanged glances, said nothing, walked to the hall’s sofa and sat down, quietly waiting.

They did not know what Grandfather wanted to say, but it was clearly something very important.

A maid brought over a pot of fragrant tea, and as Mu Xiaoyao poured tea for Baili Xia, he asked, “How have you been these past few days?

Still feeling unwell?”

“Much better.” Baili Xia was still somewhat uneasy, wondering what Grandfather really wanted to discuss with them.

The atmosphere was so tense, as if they had done something wrong and were now waiting for the old man to punish them.

Normally when they returned home, they would usually be allowed to go to their rooms to bathe and rest before coming down.

But this time, Feng Gang had directly said to wait in the hall.

Baili Xia felt inexplicably more nervous.

She wasn’t afraid of much now, but what she feared the most was Grandfather finding out about her and Uncle’s affair and having a heart attack.

Mu Xiaoyao wasn’t much of a talker to begin with, so with Baili Xia staying silent, he also remained quiet.

Anyhow, he did not know what to say to comfort her.

The two remained silent, and the entire hall was very quiet, even the housemaids were not active in this area today.

Inside the hall, the air pressure was low and heavy.

They did not know how much time had passed when suddenly the sound of a car engine was heard outside.

It sounded like the car had stopped right at the front door.

Soon, Feng Gang’s voice came through, “Young Master, you’re back.”

Uncle!

Baili Xia suddenly stood up, intending to go out to meet him.

Mu Xiaoyao however, grabbed her arm and pulled her back to the sofa.

Only then did Baili Xia calm down, raising her head to give him a shy smile.

Hearing Uncle’s return had immediately excited her, making it hard to conceal.

She just…

really hadn’t seen Uncle for a long time.

Although they had only been apart for less than four days, she had been unconscious for several days before, and was still groggy the day she woke up, only feeling Uncle’s presence beside her.

By the time she was fully awake, Uncle had already left.

All added up, it really felt like a long time since she had seen him or heard his voice.

Finally, that tall and straight figure appeared at the entrance of the hall.

Baili Xia could not hold back anymore; as Mu Xiaojiu walked towards them, she immediately stood up.

Looking up at him, she softly called out, “Uncle.”

Mu Xiaoyao also stood up, quietly calling, “Uncle.”

“Hmm.” Mu Xiaojiu handed his briefcase to Ye Hua.

Ye Hua immediately took the briefcase upstairs and did not come down again.

Mu Xiaojiu walked over to the sofa and sat down, taking the fragrant tea Mu Xiaoyao offered to him and leisurely began tasting it.

Baili Xia kept watching him, but he only quietly enjoyed his tea.

But this meeting, Uncle obviously looked tired.

Even his stubble was hastily shaved, and probably because it was done in such a rush, there were two small nicks on his chin.

What had Uncle been so busy with these days, to be this exhausted?

Those sharp and cold deep eyes were tinged with bloodshot, though the gaze remained fierce, the redness was heart-wrenching.

There was an irremovable tiredness between his brows, and dark circles were even visible.

The bags under his eyes were slightly swollen, clearly showing severe lack of sleep.

Baili Xia even doubted whether he had had a good night’s sleep these past few days?
