Be Gentle, My Master
Chapter 1244
Uncle didn’t come to see her all of last night, and now seeing him here, Baili Xia’s heart soured again upon seeing that tall figure.
Mu Xiaoyao wrapped his arm around her waist, and Baili Xia finally snapped back to reality.
The two walked into the side hall, where Mu Xiaoyao pulled out a chair for her to sit down.
Baili Xia turned her head to greet Sir Mu, whom she hadn’t seen for many days: “Sir Mu, how are you?”
“Heard you hurt your foot, is it better now?”
Sir Mu deliberately kept a stern face, not wanting to show closeness to her.
Yet, knowing that she had injured her foot, he had felt uneasy all along and had always wanted to go see her.
But in the end, he held back.
Instead of going himself, he sent Feng Gang to check on her and see if she needed anything.
Seeing her come downstairs today, although she still looked a bit pale, she seemed to be alright.
Sir Mu was still unaware of what exactly happened yesterday.
According to the younger ones, she merely twisted her ankle while walking.
“Not completely healed, but the doctor said I’ll be able to walk on my own in a couple of days,” Baili Xia said with a smile.
Although Sir Mu had maintained a serious demeanor, she could tell that his words were sincere when he asked about her condition.
After all, there was a time when she called him ‘Grandpa’; his concern was sufficient.
However, hearing her address him as ‘Sir Mu’ made his expression worsen, feeling somewhat uncomfortable inside.
But, not knowing how to express it, he could only turn his head and urge Ning Anran to eat more.
“Understood, Grandpa,” Ning Anran nodded, then suddenly turned to offer a piece of cake to Mu Xiaojiu: “Mr. Xiaojiu, you should eat more, too.”
It was only then that Baili Xia noticed that today Ning Anran was not sitting next to Sir Mu but next to Uncle.
Was it her initiative to move there, or did Uncle ask her to?
The distance between the two made her feel slightly uncomfortable.
Looking at the piece of cake that Ning Anran offered to Uncle, she couldn’t help but wonder, would Uncle refuse it?
But this time, Mu Xiaojiu disappointed Baili Xia.
He not only didn’t refuse but also took it and casually tossed it into his mouth.
He accepted the food she offered!
Ning Anran’s eyes lit up with joy, her eyebrows and eyes sparkling.
“Is it tasty? Mr. Xiaojiu, let me get you some more,” she insisted.
“Mhm,” Mu Xiaojiu responded indifferently, his face still showing little emotion.
Ning Anran, as if she had received an imperial decree, immediately picked another two pieces for him.
Seeing him eat them, she seemed as excited as if she were glowing.
That joy was so evident, everyone in the side hall, including the servants standing by, could clearly see it.
Sir Mu seemed a bit dissatisfied, coughing lightly and speaking to her seriously: “Anran, like them, you should call him Uncle.”
“Grandpa,” Ning Anran bit her lip, her eyes full of pleading as she looked at him.
Sir Mu sighed softly, feeling helpless, he decided to ignore the matter.
Baili Xia clenched her chopsticks, eyes fixated on the food before her, yet she kept an eye on Mu Xiaojiu who was sitting across her from the corner of her eye.
From the moment she arrived, he hadn’t looked at her directly.
Today he didn’t even greet her, and deep down she harbored resentment and had no intention of paying him any attention.
But no matter whether she was angry or not, Uncle simply didn’t care.
In doing this, she felt somewhat redundant.
If he didn’t care, he truly didn’t care.
No matter what she did, how could it affect him?
