Baili Xia bit her lip, her gaze fixed on him and tinged with grievance: “Then tell me, make me understand.”

What did he mean by saying she didn’t understand?

He didn’t say a word.

She wasn’t a mind reader, how was she supposed to understand anything?

Wasn’t his logic laughably absurd?

Mu Xiaojiu stared at her face full of grievance, his thin lips slightly moved.

For a moment, he truly wanted to pull her into his arms and tell her all his plans.

But he wasn’t used to it, not used to letting anyone share the burden on his shoulders.

So in the end, he simply pulled out a cigarette and lit it with a snap.

“I have nothing to say.

But if you dare run away, no matter where you go, I’ll hunt you down.”

“Then go ahead and try!” Baili Xia glared at him fiercely, then turned and started to leave.

Mu Xiaojiu didn’t chase after her, he just leisurely smoked his cigarette.

It was only when she was about to walk out of the stone forest that he suddenly said, in a calm tone: “He Xinjie and Lu An are in Yu City.”

Baili Xia’s steps halted, but she didn’t turn around.

Her fingers were clenched so tightly her knuckles turned white.

Here it was again!

He was once again using other people to torment her, to threaten her!

“He Xinjie doesn’t care about me at all. Do you really think I would still be controlled by you because of her?” She sneered coldly.

“Tomorrow,” Mu Xiaojiu began walking towards her slowly, each step seemingly weighed down.

“I’ll have Ye Hua return something of hers to you. What do you want?”

Baili Xia stood frozen, her legs felt like lead, unable to move even half a step.

The man had already walked behind her, his voice sounding directly above her head.

“An ear?

An eye?

Or perhaps a nose?

To make it simpler, how about a pair of hands?”

“Mu Xiaojiu!”

“I heard you still have a grandmother back in your hometown, He Xinjie’s mother.

Although not blood-related, she was especially kind to you when you were a child…”

With a loud slap, the clarity of the sound shattered Mu Xiaojiu’s words entirely.

He slightly turned his head—he could’ve dodged it if he wanted to, but this time, he didn’t.

He took the slap head-on, without flinching.

On his strikingly handsome cheek, five faint crimson fingerprints began to appear, an indication of how much force had been in that slap.

Baili Xia clenched the fingers of her right hand tightly, glaring at him fiercely: “You’re forcing me to the brink.”

“No, I’m giving you a way out.” Mu Xiaojiu didn’t look at her, indifferently continuing to smoke.

He remained just as aloof, just as proud, except now, his face bore five marks that were entirely out of place with his cold demeanor.

“I’ve said before, Xiaoyao is good.

By his side, you’ll live well.”

“Yes, Brother is good.

Everything about him is good.

What complaint would I possibly have following him?”

Baili Xia laughed wildly, yet coldly.

Realizing that she was still draped in his coat, she took it off and threw it back at him.

“I don’t want any noses, eyes, or mouths. I want Brother. Is that acceptable?”

Mu Xiaojiu caught the coat without saying a word and continued smoking.

“There’s nothing wrong with marrying Brother. Forget the engagement, let’s just get married. After all, in Jin City, there’s nothing Mu Xiaojiu can’t accomplish. Why not go ahead and arrange the wedding for us?”

As her gaze moved toward the distant figure walking over, something seemed to click within her, and she turned back to look at Mu Xiaojiu.

The chill from the wind made her lips slightly curve, a smile full of ambiguity that he couldn’t decipher.

“Uncle, I’ll be obedient and stay with Brother. But, can you promise me this: now that I’ve complied, don’t threaten me with irrelevant people again in the future?”
