Be Gentle, My Master
Chapter 1270
The worst person in the world is Uncle…
As soon as Baili Xia finished saying this, Wu Ming suddenly shot to his feet and turned to leave.
Behind him, a palpable wave of displeasure remained.
Baili Xia froze for a moment, then immediately leapt up and tried to chase after him.
But, within just a blink of an eye, that guy had disappeared.
She sighed softly and stood still, no longer pursuing him.
Yet another die-hard fan of Uncle!
That guy, Uncle, he’s practically running a Cult.
Why is everyone so loyal to him, so stubbornly fixated?
Forget it.
Anyway, Wu Ming has a bad temper too—just as lousy as Uncle’s.
But, at least he has one redeeming trait: he gets over his anger quickly, and once it passes, everything is fine again.
Standing there for a moment in the wind, she suddenly remembered that she was still wearing Wu Ming’s jacket.
She didn’t know when she’d see him again, or what to do with this jacket.
She would be leaving tomorrow…
After thinking it over, she decided to keep it for now and find a chance to return it to him once she came back.
After all, with the Mu family’s generosity, Wu Ming shouldn’t be lacking a winter jacket just because this one is missing…
She raised her head and glanced at the sky, pressing her lips together, finally stepping slowly toward the sightseeing cart.
Cold and hungry, she figured she should head back for a good meal and sleep early.
Tomorrow, she’d depart for Bei Miao…
…
Baili Xia lay on the bed and quickly drifted off to sleep.
Perhaps it was due to recent exhaustion and the overwhelming thoughts occupying her mind, but her sleep was particularly restless.
All night long, one nightmare after another plagued her.
In her dreams, Uncle was standing with a cold, unyielding back turned toward her.
She desperately tried to get closer, to see his face clearly, but she couldn’t, no matter how hard she tried.
An equally icy voice came from Mu Xiaojiu: “Leave. Don’t follow me anymore.”
Perhaps it was the vulnerability of being in a dream—her entire self felt fragile.
As Mu Xiaojiu began to walk away, her eyes burned with heat, and she timidly ran after him.
“Don’t, Uncle, don’t leave me.”
Baili Xia lunged forward with all her might, finally managing to grab onto Mu Xiaojiu’s leg.
Sitting on the ground, tears began to drip down as she clung desperately to him.
“I beg you, Uncle, don’t leave me. I’ll be good.”
Her voice trembled with sobs as she shook her head frantically, pleading incessantly.
When she raised her head, she found that Mu Xiaojiu’s cold face was so blurry.
Mu Xiaojiu didn’t feel any pity for her.
He didn’t lower his gaze even once, merely extending his arms to grab Baili Xia’s hands firmly, one in each hand.
Then, with a single toss backward, Baili Xia was flung several meters away.
“Ah, Uncle…”
Baili Xia let out a piercing scream, but Mu Xiaojiu was already walking away.
She wanted to chase after him, but her legs wouldn’t muster any strength, leaving her helplessly watching as Mu Xiaojiu drifted further and further away.
Baili Xia’s heart ached, a pain so sharp and overwhelming that it left her unable to catch her breath.
She tried her best to breathe, but it was as if an invisible hand was strangling her neck, making breathing agonizingly difficult.
“Thump, thump… thump, thump…”
Finally, the sound of urgent knocking on the door jolted Baili Xia awake.
She shot upright in bed, realizing only then that she was completely drenched.
Her face was soaking wet as well—it was hard to tell whether it was tears or sweat.
If not for the knocking, she might have suffocated in her dream.
She glanced at the clock hanging on the wall: 3:40 a.m.
Who the hell comes knocking at three or four in the morning?
Isn’t this just insane?
Aren’t they afraid of disturbing someone’s sleep!
