Be Gentle, My Master
Chapter 1274
“Brother…”
Looking at Mu Xiaoyao’s deliberately stern face, Baili Xia was utterly incredulous: “You… you’re really coming with me? Then… then going back afterward?”
But this round trip would take eight or nine hours—was Brother really that magnanimous?
Or perhaps…
he was just teasing her all along?
Maybe it was always the plan for him to go with her, wasn’t it?
“Uncle asked me to tag along and protect you… and Mr. Nangong,” Mu Xiaoyao said flatly, clearing up her doubts.
Baili Xia glanced at him, then at Nangong Xu sitting in the front seat.
“Master…
actually, I can protect Master just fine.”
“Ahem…” Someone coughed lightly.
Baili Xia pouted and glared at Mu Xiaoyao: “You don’t believe in my abilities?”
For heaven’s sake, she had trained in martial arts.
Protecting Master…
shouldn’t be too much trouble, right?
At worst, if she couldn’t win, she could just run away.
Besides, Master was heading to treat Mr.
Bei, not to fight anyone.
Mu Xiaoyao, however, glanced at Nangong Xu’s profile and said indifferently, “This girl wants to protect you.
Shouldn’t you thank her?”
“…” Nangong Xu rubbed his temples, speechless.
Did he…
really look like someone who needed protection?
Baili Xia watched the interaction between the two, feeling a little puzzled.
These two guys seemed to have some sort of underlying message in their words.
Had she misunderstood something?
Could it be that Master also trained in martial arts?
But he was a doctor, after all.
Besides, he was so stunning…
“What are you thinking about? Focus, the helicopter’s about to take off,” Mu Xiaoyao suddenly said beside her.
“Ah!” Baili Xia was startled but turned to see him sitting next to her, which unexpectedly calmed her nerves quite a bit.
Still, she felt it was a bit surreal.
Brother was really coming along with them?
How come he hadn’t mentioned this before?
Suddenly surprising her like this—she was a little overwhelmed.
Fixing her gaze on Mu Xiaoyao’s eyes, Baili Xia asked, “Aren’t you really busy?
How do you have time to come along?”
“With a laptop, I can stay busy wherever I go,” he replied.
Baili Xia thought about it and agreed.
For someone like her tech-savvy Brother, a laptop could solve everything.
But was it really just as simple as accompanying her?
“You’re headed to Bei Miao for another mission, aren’t you? Protecting me and Master—does it even require someone as skilled as you? What a waste of talent!”
Mu Xiaoyao said nothing, his expression suddenly growing much more serious.
He turned his face toward the window, seemingly lost in thought.
This abrupt shift didn’t escape Baili Xia’s notice.
Evidently, Brother did have a mission, or else why would he suddenly join her trip to Bei Miao?
And now he claimed he was protecting her and Master?
For a moment there, she’d almost genuinely been touched.
That lousy Brother!
As they spoke, the pilot had already started up the helicopter, preparing for takeoff.
Mu Xiaoyao leaned over to help Baili Xia check her seatbelt.
The rotor blades spun rapidly, and Baili Xia felt the booming noise far too close to her, the pressure in her ears suddenly becoming intense.
After a while, the helicopter began to shake violently.
Baili Xia knew it was just taking off—the shaking was always worst at this moment.
Even though she understood, she couldn’t overcome the fear in her heart.
This level of turbulence—what if they lost control…
She clenched her eyes shut, her back pressed rigidly against the seat, her hands gripping the armrests tightly.
She was gripping so hard that her hands had turned slightly pale.
Just as she was trembling with anxiety, a large hand suddenly clasped her left hand and gave it a firm squeeze.
“Afraid of even riding a helicopter? With courage this small, what are you going to do in the future?”
