This method focuses entirely on the raw strength of each group—there’s no chance to get a position through connections.

“So, who’s the current head of the Security Department?” Baili Xia suddenly asked.

Bei Tianyou glanced at her lightly.

“Coincidentally, this term, it’s me.”

Baili Xia hadn’t expected Bei Tianyou to be the current head of the Security Department and was momentarily stunned, her mouth agape.

“Brother You, I didn’t know you were so impressive.”

Did this mean that the entire defense camp of Bei Miao was under his control now?

“Well, it’s not guaranteed. For all we know, it might not be me next term.”

Baili Xia was slightly taken aback.

“Why?

Is the competition for this role very intense?”

Bei Tianyou nodded and said, “Yes, there are many factions in the Miao Domain.

Quite a few, just like the Bei Family.”

Baili Xia fell into contemplation.

She hadn’t imagined that there were so many factions in Bei Miao.

The situation here might even give Jin City a run for its money.

She didn’t ask Bei Tianyou any more questions.

After all, he was a member of the Bei Family, with a unique status.

When it came to family matters, it wasn’t appropriate to share too much with outsiders.

Still, she had just bombarded Bei Tianyou with a round of questions, and it was rare for him not to mind and even explain so much to her willingly.

Mu Xiaoyao stood to the side, silent this whole time.

Watching Baili Xia, who appeared lost in thought, he noticed the fatigue still evident on her face.

After some deliberation, he walked over to her.

“Go get some rest. You didn’t sleep well last night.”

Baili Xia snapped out of her daze and was about to decline, but when she looked up, she accidentally caught sight of Mu Xiaoyao’s unwavering gaze.

She couldn’t help but pout, feeling a faint sense of grievance.

That domineering look made her unable to refuse at all.

This demeanor—how was it so similar to Uncle?!

Whenever Uncle fixed her with that kind of gaze, she would instinctively surrender, almost out of habit.

Now, with Uncle gone, here came Second Brother.

Was she doomed to be completely subdued by the men of the Mu family for life?

“Fine, fine, I’ll go sleep now.” Complaints aside, she still obeyed Second Brother’s words.

Bei Tianyou called Fan Yi over and instructed him to take the three of them to the rooms for rest.

Fan Yi agreed and brought the three of them onto a sightseeing vehicle, heading toward the rooms prepared for them.

A few minutes later, the four of them stopped at an independent courtyard.

In truth, they had seen many similar sights along the way and weren’t surprised anymore.

In the vast Bei Residence, there were many such courtyards.

Fan Yi explained that each courtyard housed a branch of the Bei Family.

Once a family member started their own household, they would select a courtyard, whether or not they planned to live in it—it had to be chosen first.

Take Bei Tianyou, for instance.

Though he sometimes stayed in the main residence, he spent most of his time in his own courtyard.

Bei Tianyou had arranged for Fan Yi to bring them to rest here, with their rooms already prepared in Bei Tianyou’s courtyard.

As the group paused at the courtyard gate, they noticed the plaque above it read “Bi Luo Pavilion.”

“This is the Young Master’s courtyard,” Fan Yi explained.

The group nodded and stepped inside.

The courtyard was spotless, with various plants meticulously arranged and trimmed to perfection.

“Brother You’s courtyard is so beautiful,” Baili Xia remarked in awe, unable to take her eyes off the scene.

Fan Yi only smiled without saying anything.

Soon, they arrived at the guest rooms prepared for them.

Fan Yi pointed to three rooms and said, “These three rooms are prepared for the three of you. Feel free to decide how you want to arrange yourselves.”
