Be Gentle, My Master
Chapter 1279
“The keys are here. Feel free to use them.”
Fan Yi took out the keys and handed them to Mu Xiaoyao.
“If you need anything, you can find the servants or come to me.”
Mu Xiaoyao nodded to show he understood.
“Then please take a rest for now. I won’t bother you. Mr. Bei’s room is on the east side of the courtyard. Usually, he’s in the Bi Luo Pavilion, unless the Old Madam invites him to the main house.”
With nods from the three of them, Fan Yi turned and headed toward the main door.
Mu Xiaoyao held the keys and walked to the middle room of the three, testing them one by one.
Finding the right one, he opened the door and tossed the key to Baili Xia: “You’ll sleep in this room.”
Without waiting for Baili Xia to respond, Mu Xiaoyao moved to the adjacent room and tested another key.
He kept one for himself and tossed the other to Nangong Xu.
“Get some rest.” With that, he entered his room.
Seeing Mu Xiaoyao return to his room first, Baili Xia glanced back at Nangong Xu, nodded, and entered her own room.
No wonder her master had said before that the Bei Family traditions were truly ancient.
This place was practically like a grand old mansion from centuries ago.
Even as they came in earlier, the servants had ceremoniously bowed to greet them.
One could imagine how strict Old Master and the Old Madam were with their servants.
Just as she was about to close her door, Nangong Xu approached.
“Master?” Baili Xia looked at him with confusion.
Nangong Xu didn’t respond; instead, he turned and closed the door.
Only then did he look at Baili Xia and softly say, “I’ll go check on the Old Madam first.”
Seeing Baili Xia’s face full of doubt, he added, “I need to retrieve something from the Old Madam to run a verification.”
Baili Xia finally understood and whispered, “Then be careful.”
Nangong Xu nodded, turned, opened the door, and stepped out.
Watching Nangong Xu leave, Baili Xia felt wide awake.
Could it be that she was truly a member of the Bei Family?
Perhaps soon, the truth would be revealed…
…
Three days passed quietly at the Bei Family mansion.
Ever since Nangong Xu had mentioned finding an opportunity to run the verification, no one brought up the matter again.
Baili Xia didn’t dare say anything either.
According to Nangong Xu, they had come to treat Mr.
Bei and, incidentally, to perform acupuncture and massage for the Old Madam.
This was a matter being closely watched by countless eyes.
After all, curing Bei Tianyou’s illness might not necessarily be good news for certain individuals.
Thus, every move they made was inevitably under surveillance, especially Nangong Xu.
Don’t think a simple paternity test is all it is.
If Nangong Xu personally went to the hospital for testing, within half a day, the results would undoubtedly spread across the entire Bei Family, becoming common knowledge.
He was waiting for the right timing, waiting for the person Mu Xiaoyao had arranged to be ready.
Baili Xia was waiting too.
Finally, three days later, it seemed the moment had arrived.
Yesterday Mu Xiaoyao arranged for the samples to be sent out, and today Nangong Xu accompanied Bei Tianyou out.
If all went smoothly, the report would arrive today.
To better coordinate with Nangong Xu, Mu Xiaoyao also left the mansion, leaving Baili Xia alone for the time being.
Still, staying within the Bei Family grounds meant there wasn’t much chance of unexpected situations.
She was simply anxious, spending the entire morning restless.
A little past eleven, approaching lunch time, she couldn’t hold back any longer and left Bei Tianyou’s Bi Luo Pavilion.
Wandering aimlessly through the courtyard, she eventually found herself near the main house.
The main house seemed lively, as though someone important had arrived.
