Because Baili Xia had helped Tang Jixin out of a situation earlier, Tao had a particularly good impression of her.

Although their first interaction wasn’t exactly pleasant,

their second meeting left Tao with a much better impression of Baili Xia.

After all, in this kind of family, there were very few who would stand up for others.

“Miss Xiaxia, aren’t you resting at noon?”

“I don’t have the habit of taking naps. Tao, are you still working at noon? Why not go take care of the lady?”

Baili Xia took a few steps closer with a somewhat casual stride.

“The lady is resting at noon, and I have nothing to do.

Since I’m free anyway, I thought I’d tidy up these flowerpots.”

“Miss Xiaxia, are you looking for the lady?” Tao looked at Baili Xia, slightly puzzled.

Baili Xia waved her hand nonchalantly.

“No, I’ve been at the Bei Family for several days now.

This place is so big, I haven’t had a proper look at the scenery yet, so I decided to wander around aimlessly.”

As if suddenly remembering something, she added, “Oh, Tao, are you free?

Could you show me around and introduce me to the scenery of the Bei Residence?

Would that be okay?”

“Well…” Tao hesitated visibly.

She needed to be back to wait on the lady when she woke up.

Noticing Tao’s discomfort, Baili Xia acted as if it was nothing: “If it’s inconvenient, just forget it. I’ll continue wandering around by myself.”

Tao immediately felt a bit embarrassed.

Considering that Baili Xia had previously gone out of her way to help the lady, yet now Tao was hesitating, it felt rather inappropriate.

The lady usually woke up at 3:30 in the afternoon, and it wasn’t even one o’clock yet.

Time should work out just fine.

After thinking it through, Tao said, “Miss Xiaxia, you’ve misunderstood. I’m free, I was just worried I wouldn’t have enough time to get back. As long as I return by 3:30, it should be fine.”

She set down the gardening tools she was holding and walked over to the faucet to wash her hands.

“Let’s go.

We’ll head to the backyard, and I’ll take the sightseeing cart to show you around the Bei Residence.”

“Alright, thank you.” Baili Xia stepped forward and took Tao’s hand, walking with her toward the backyard.

Tao couldn’t help but sneak a few more glances at Baili Xia.

At this moment, she felt even more impressed by Baili Xia’s character.

After all, despite their differing statuses, Baili Xia willingly held hands and walked side by side with a servant.

If it were any other young lady from a wealthy family, who would do such a thing?

Not a hint of arrogance—how refreshing.

…

Driving through the backyard in the sightseeing cart, Tao continuously introduced the architecture in each location to Baili Xia.

But Baili Xia quickly noticed there was one courtyard that Tao hadn’t mentioned at all.

Hidden behind clusters of flowers and plants, the courtyard’s door was almost entirely concealed.

The plaque, covered with winding vines—if Baili Xia hadn’t already known what the characters said, she wouldn’t have been able to make out the words.

“Youyang Pavilion”—this was where Bei Qingyou had lived during her lifetime.

Even though the plaque and the door were consumed by vegetation, it was still discernible that someone inside had been regularly cleaning the place.

Tao had completely ignored the pavilion, clearly not intending to introduce it to her.

No wonder both her brother and her master had said that the name “Bei Qingyou” was taboo in the Bei Family.

It seemed they were right.

Baili Xia merely glanced at Youyang Pavilion a few extra times before quickly withdrawing her gaze, ensuring not to arouse any suspicion from Tao.

Driving past Youyang Pavilion, they continued onward, and soon, another tower-like courtyard appeared in Baili Xia’s field of vision.

She had glanced at this place in passing before but hadn’t had the chance to ask anyone about it properly.
