The Old Master seemed to be feeling unwell tonight, so it was the Old Madam who came out to entertain the guests.

When Mu Xiaojiu went to meet the Old Madam, Baili Xia was by his side.

Of course, Mu Xiaoyao and Bei Tianyou were accompanying him as well.

Baili Xia seemed a little out of it, at times thinking about sneaking away to check out Youyang Pavilion in the backyard.

Yet at other times, she seemed slightly reluctant to leave immediately…

All in all, she appeared absent-minded during that brief half-hour.

It wasn’t until someone led her to sit in a corner and placed a cup of ice cream in front of her that she finally snapped back to reality.

She looked up toward the center of the hall, where Mu Xiaojiu and the Old Madam were still talking about something.

She sighed; every time that guy showed up, her brain just seemed to short-circuit.

She resolved to never voluntarily look at him again…

that is, if she could actually manage to do so.

“Brother, I’m not feeling well.” She emphasized as she glanced at Mu Xiaoyao, who was sitting across from her.

“Hmm.” Mu Xiaoyao nodded but didn’t say anything further.

“Brother!” This guy clearly knew they had other matters to attend to tonight, but now she couldn’t communicate with him at all.

What did he mean by this?

Had tonight’s plan been called off?

Mu Xiaoyao gave her a look but couldn’t resist glancing again at the figure in the center of the hall.

“What’s the deal? Do I have to get his permission even if I want to leave because I’m feeling uncomfortable?” Baili Xia retorted angrily.

“Hmm.” Mu Xiaoyao responded indifferently again, leaving it unclear whether he had heard what she said.

Baili Xia wished she could grab the ice cream in front of her and smash it onto his head.

But…

ice cream?

She focused her eyes again and, sure enough, a vibrantly colored ice cream cup was sitting right in front of her.

Her jewel-like eyes widened dramatically, and she couldn’t help but lick her lips.

“Is this…

for me?”

Mu Xiaoyao wanted to say “Of course,” but as he turned his head, he caught sight of her licking her lips.

His gaze froze, and his eyes became fixated on those two delicate lips.

When her soft pink tongue emerged to lick her lower lip, that little tongue…

looked so cute, almost…

delicious.

A sudden dryness assaulted his throat, and his Adam’s apple bobbed.

He abruptly felt an overwhelming urge to bite that tiny pink tongue.

When her lips became coated with the ice cream’s sheen, they appeared strikingly alluring.

For a moment, he strongly desired to take a bite of her lips.

To see if they really tasted as good as they looked…

Baili Xia was momentarily stunned.

After taking just two bites, she could already feel the searing gaze of the man sitting across from her.

She looked up and saw him staring at her intently without blinking.

Confused, she asked, “What? Do you want some too?”

Brother doesn’t like sweet things, does he?

Then why, when watching her eat sweet treats, did he look like he was practically starving?

There’s plenty in the food section—if he wanted some, shouldn’t he go and grab his own?

Mu Xiaoyao was instantly flustered by her puzzled gaze.

He quickly averted his eyes, cleared his throat, and eyed her ice cream with disdain.

“No, I don’t eat that.”

Feeling somewhat uneasy, his gaze drifted away and returned to the center of the hall once more.

This time, he seemed to notice something, for he immediately turned back to look at Baili Xia.

“You’re really not feeling well? Let me take you back to rest now.”

Baili Xia was taken aback.

Just moments ago, wasn’t he completely ignoring her?

Why was he suddenly being so proactive now?
