“You wouldn’t dare!” Mu Xiaojiu’s face darkened.

This girl dared to go out with those men?

Let’s see if he wouldn’t properly deal with her.

“Why not?” Baili Xia feigned ignorance, blinking her eyes innocently.

“I don’t really have any friends in Bei Miao.

Brother You is very nice to me, but he’s so busy—he doesn’t have time to accompany me.”

“I want to go out and have fun too.

Bei Miao has so many beautiful places to see, and I’d love to explore around.”

“Them…” Was this girl really this naive, or was she pretending?

Those men inviting her out—did she really think it was to go sight-seeing?

Oh, they’d look, alright.

But the scenery they wanted to admire was on her body!

Foolish woman!

Still, her words caused a slight softening in his heart.

After all, she was just an eighteen-year-old girl.

Being playful was only natural.

Mu Xiaojiu paused, his tone easing slightly.

“If you really want to go out, Xiaoyao can accompany you.”

“Brother isn’t fun at all,” Baili Xia immediately retorted.

“Why isn’t he fun?”

“He’s too old.

He’s so much older than me, there’s a generation gap.”

“…” Mu Xiaojiu felt an almost uncontrollable urge to smack her firmly on the backside.

Even Xiaoyao, who was just twenty-five, she thought was old.

So if it was him…

He was twenty-eight, a full decade older than her.

In her eyes, did that mean he was already one foot in the grave?

This little creature—did she have a death wish?

Baili Xia suddenly realized, calling Brother old made it seem like someone else was even older…

Her heart gave a faint shudder, fearing someone might unexpectedly explode.

But when she thought about it, she felt indignantly defiant.

Why should she always yield to him, always fear his anger?

“Uncle, you come around yourself without playing with us younger ones. What else am I supposed to do for fun? I’m wrong, huh?”

She brazenly spoke, unafraid of death.

Because with her back turned to him, Mu Xiaojiu didn’t see the cunning smile in her eyes.

His anger flared, his large hand tightening slightly, his voice growing raspier.

“I… never said I wouldn’t accompany you.”

“But you… You’re even older than Brother.

You wouldn’t be any fun to hang out with.”

“!” In a flash, he scooped her up, his large hand sliding under her arms to grip her firmly.

Baili Xia’s brows furrowed deeply, but she still bit her teeth, refusing to yield.

She knew provoking this man wasn’t wise, but tonight, she just couldn’t hold back.

She wouldn’t let herself be bullied by him forever, wouldn’t let him always lead her by the nose.

“Uncle, what are you doing?

I’m not even allowed to be honest with you now?

What, from now on, I have to lie all the time in front of you?”

“You wouldn’t dare.”

“You’re the one who doesn’t let people speak the truth!” she exclaimed.

What did it matter if she dared or not?

She’d already said it.

Mu Xiaojiu nearly felt the urge to choke her.

Was she dead set on going against him tonight?

But he didn’t have much time to spare here.

The people at the banquet were still waiting for him.

Even stepping outside to smoke shouldn’t take a whole hour.

Naughty girl.

She knew full well he couldn’t linger.

He’d rushed here just to spend some private time with her, and yet she didn’t appreciate it.

“Uncle, could you take your hand off me first?” Baili Xia glanced down at her chest, her delicate brows furrowing even tighter.

Mu Xiaojiu didn’t let go.

Instead, he tightened his grip.

“Mm! Uncle!” She gave his hand a strong push.

“The way you’re acting, I’m starting to think you never wanted me to be with Brother. Are you reluctant to let me go?”

Mu Xiaojiu froze, his large hands gripping her body instantly releasing.

He took two steps back, distancing himself from her.
