When Baili Xia entered the house, Mu Xiaoyao leapt in lightly as well.

His movements were crisp and clean; his agility was absolutely astounding!

He didn’t even touch the windowsill—effortlessly, he vaulted straight into the hall.

Baili Xia glanced back and, by the faint moonlight, confirmed that there wasn’t a single trace left on the windowsill.

She breathed a sigh of relief, feeling the urge to say “Impressive” to her brother, but the scene before her dampened her spirits.

This was Bei Qingyou’s residence, her living room…

The hall was decorated in a retro style; even though it hadn’t been inhabited for over a decade, it still felt as though someone lived there every day.

Spotlessly clean, so much so that even the moonlight reflecting off the floor emitted a pristine glow.

Baili Xia walked a circle around the hall before immediately heading upstairs.

On the second floor, there was a room.

The door was locked.

Judging by its placement and the ornamental style of the door, it was clearly Bei Qingyou’s bedroom.

“Brother…” Baili Xia couldn’t help but gently tug at Mu Xiaoyao’s sleeve.

She couldn’t unlock the door.

She wondered if her brother had any way to open it.

“I’m not a thief.” Breaking locks was not something he specialized in.

Kicking the door down would be easy.

Baili Xia felt a bit disappointed.

Kicking down the door wasn’t an option, but getting inside without damaging the lock was truly difficult.

“Maybe we can check out the backyard,” Mu Xiaoyao suddenly suggested.

“Check for what?” She tilted her head, looking at him with incomprehension.

“Look in the backyard.

See if there’s a way to climb up.”

Baili Xia’s eyes lit up instantly, the excitement in her gaze unmistakable: “Alright.”

This was just the second floor.

Climbing up would be no problem at all for her brother.

Uncle especially enjoyed doing such things—climbing windows had essentially turned into an art for him.

Having followed by his side all these years, her brother must have long mastered the essence of it.

The two of them exited the hall, making their way around the edges of the mansion and heading toward the backyard.

Truthfully, what Baili Xia wanted to see even more was Bei Qingyou’s tomb.

She wanted to figure out exactly where that grave was, at the very least, to offer her respects.

Even if the evidence remained insufficient, she had already decided in her heart that Bei Qingyou…

Rounding into the backyard, there were still no signs of any security presence.

Baili Xia looked up, searching for the location of the bedroom she had seen earlier.

Meanwhile, Mu Xiaoyao’s thick eyebrows stayed faintly furrowed, his thoughts seemingly elsewhere.

There was an odd, unsettling aura hanging over the backyard…

“Brother, it should definitely be this one.” Baili Xia craned her neck, finally confirming the room’s position.

She lightly tugged at Mu Xiaoyao’s sleeve: “Brother…”

“Stay here. Don’t move,” Mu Xiaoyao instructed, his voice barely falling before he dashed off ahead.

Baili Xia’s heart tightened.

She spun around quickly—for a fleeting moment, she saw a shadow of pale white flash deep within the backyard.

Flash… Damn it!

Moving so fast, trying to scare someone to death?

Thankfully, her sight wasn’t bad.

She managed to catch a clear glimpse—it was a person, not… not something else.

Still, come to think of it, if it really were Bei Qingyou’s spirit returning, shouldn’t she feel more gratitude?

She truly wanted to meet her…

Even though Mu Xiaoyao told her to stand still, Baili Xia couldn’t resist taking a few steps toward the backyard.

That person, like them, was certainly sneaking in clandestinely.

Otherwise, he wouldn’t have fled so quickly upon seeing them.

But they moved too fast—Baili Xia couldn’t keep up.

Before she knew it, she had already followed them into the depths of the backyard.
