Be Gentle, My Master
Chapter 1406
If I have to write a paper next semester, Baili Xia thinks, she’ll definitely write an essay about men.
As for the title, it’ll be: How Rogues Are Made!
Having a wolfish companion like this by her side, such an essay would likely be a breeze to write, wouldn’t it?
…
In the evening they ate baked sweet potatoes, stir-fried sweet potato leaves, and candied sweet potatoes.
Mrs.
Hong sent over half a chicken, and Baili Xia made braised chicken.
Mu Xiaojiu, starved or something, cleaned his plate down to the sauce with plain rice.
After dinner, Mrs.
Hong brought over clothes again.
The two of them bathed in warm water, and Mrs.
Hong took the clothes back.
Apparently, after washing, she could dry them over the fire, and they’d be ready by tomorrow morning.
Mu Xiaojiu had no objections; in such a desolate place, he hadn’t even thought about clothes or bathing.
Who could care about such things in the rush?
Baili Xia handed the clothes to Mrs.
Hong and watched her leave.
When she returned, Mu Xiaojiu was carrying the sheets and blankets, walking out of the room.
Baili Xia, worried about Uncle asking for a gift tonight, was startled by his action and forgot everything.
“What are you doing?” Taking so many things, is he planning to run away?
“Taking you somewhere,” Mu Xiaojiu strode out.
By the faint moonlight, he walked toward Hongxia Mountain.
This is the foot of the mountain, and from here, there’s only one way to Hongxia Mountain.
Is he headed for the mountain top?
Baili Xia’s heart skipped a beat; she couldn’t care about anything else and immediately chased after him.
“Uncle, the mountain top will be really cold at night. Why are you going up there so late?”
Even with moonlight, it’s so dim; you can’t really see anything, not even a sea of flowers.
He’s carrying blankets and sheets, does that mean…
“With me hugging you, what’s there to fear about the cold?” Mu Xiaojiu didn’t even look back; his pace never stopped.
“If you’re afraid of the cold, I’ll strip and hold you tight tonight to keep you warm.”
“…” He clearly has ill intentions.
Taking her up the mountain late at night just for…
that sort of thing?
Baili Xia was filled with rage and promptly stopped walking.
“If you stop here, would it bother you if villagers saw us?”
Ahead, his calm voice drifted over, without a trace of embarrassment.
That bastard!
“I’m not going!” she said firmly.
Even knowing he’s taking her to the mountain with bad intentions, one would be a fool to go.
Mu Xiaojiu halted, turning to gaze at her.
His piercing look, under the moonlight, emitted a wolfish gleam.
“Are you sure you want to stay here?” His face, his eyes, when not gentle, seemed almost angry.
Is his power that prevails without anger what they describe?
Baili Xia hesitated to step back, but his voice resonated as she lifted her leg.
“If you can outrun me, just try escaping.”
His dark eyes narrowed, filled with danger.
“If I catch you, I’ll enforce justice on the spot; you can try.”
“…!”
She could give it a try, knowing she wasn’t slow, but…
she just didn’t dare!
His eyes were too serious, serious enough not to allow doubt.
If she tried to escape and he caught her, he’d definitely pin her to the ground.
The problem is, if she ran, he’d be sure to catch her!
So what’s the point in running?
